Ritsuka Aoyagi Cosplay Help
« on: November 18, 2009, 07:08:03 pm »
I'm really interested in adding Ritsuka to my cosplay set this next year. I have a friend who would go as Seimei with me since she has an outfit made already. The problem is, I want to do an outfit that shows later in the manga and I'm not sure what colors to do...My friend just guessed on the colors, going with what Seimei usually wore.

Here is the image of the outfit.

Any suggestions for colors? I'm thinking black pants and shoes and black for the fuzzy on the coat, but not sure for the actually color of the coat and the shirt under it. ^^

Any help is appreciated!

I am confused at the costume you are speaking of, Ristuka never wears anything that is fuzzy, His coat is a
light blue zip up with a white boarder, possibly wind breaker style but I might go ahead and opt for a fleece
one if you like the smoothe look in the picture (is that the fuzzy you are refering to?) As for pants, it is a
great idea to go with a black skinny dickie's (in your size please!) and some simple vans or skate shoes, possible
these if you are willing to splurge!:

For the jacket, here's basically what you are looking for, keep in mind you will need to probably create
the trim yourself or find a good match, here is a base starting point:

If you haven't already noticed, Im cos'n as Ritsu-kun myself, with a Soubi instead of a Seimei. So it'll
be fun to see how our costumes work out!

Sorry! My fault for the confusion! I didn't post the link to the correct outfit. ><

This is the real outfit.

I'll fix it up in my first post. As for the outfit you are suggesting, if this one doesn't pull through then I'm going to be going as Ritsuka in that outfit. ^^ My friend wants me to try this one because it matches the Seimei outfit she picked out.

Also, if anyone has an idea of what kind of coat that it would be, please let me know. ^^ I'm at a loss for what kind of coat it would be.

Ah, I see, well... still on the same line....

You will most certainly want black dickies for the pants and ritsuka's standard
black school shoes (think school uniform in the winter time?) the coat is covering
another shirt he wears earlier, and I'm pretty sure it's a similar color to Soubi's
deep periwinkle one.

Clearly to get the specific style you will need to sew on the black fur, I recomend
fake fur as it is easier to sew through a fake hide (trust me) and also cheaper in
the long run (real furs loose bits much more often, needing replacement and they
also start to smell funny if worn too long)

Does that help?

Totally. ^^ Thanks for all the help! I was either think of a purple(periwinkle) color or a dark blue. The fake fur suggestion is also helpful, since I've never done this before. Any idea as to what kind of coat it would be?

To get that same flowing style you need to make a cape coat/poncho coat
like the one I linked from alpaca yarn place.

The actual pattern if you are making one should be relatively easy to
find and make, it'll be the specific color of fabric that'll get you going crazy.

I personally like these patterns:

I like the billow-ness of that pattern

This one is a bit different style but might give you a better look..
