Seth is rather awesome himself XD
AND Mr. Clearwater!
His kungfoo is strong!
We totally thought he was Billy, somehow out of the wheelchair. XD

xDDD Ya know what's funny? Is I asked my sister that in the middle of the movie! I was like, "How'd he get out of the wheelchair?!" And she was like, "It's Harry!" And I looked at her. ...o.o... "WHUT?"

It actually made me laugh at the time. xD

lol
You guys~

I didn't remember his first name, so I just improvised ^^ (He is Harry Clearwater though, right?)
Haha, yeah. Harry Clearwater.  :P

Aw man! I wish I had someone to whisper funny crap to me! xD The only person whispering anything to me was my sister's friend who said that if we squealed or yelled at any point in time that she would punch us in the face! Dx And she was serious!

I myself will never cease to be amazed how worked up people get about Twilight, both for AND against it. I mean, sheesh, it's just a book series.

Although I am going to put in my opinion about the sparkling (since it's the only thing people ever seem to remember about the Twilight vamps) and say that even though it's kind of silly, it's at least explained. And the explanation kind of makes sense. So I'm not bothered by it.

Why do so many people hate it? It's not your type of story? They don't portray vampires like the REAL ones we see every day? They might be sparkly, but someone give me a definition of a "real vampire"; something set in stone about what you're guaranteed to see when you see a vampire. I agree, it's just a fan fiction. If you're over 15, it doesn't justify badmouthing it, either.

It portrays a very unhealthy relationship as a positive thin, and does so with poor writing. Harlequin romances are nothing new but there's no reason for this one to have gotten so popular. The mythos behind the vampires might be acceptable (maybe even the sparkling) if the prose were better or the characters not so flimsy.

The parts that make me hate the series the most have not been shown in the films yet.

Also, I can proudly say that I hated the series long before the movies came out. Years ago a friend related the entire series to me (which she had borrowed from a twitard) in about 10 minutes and nothing since that point has changed my mind about the absurdity and general badness of the story.

That's because we can go a few days without ever hearing someone mention Curious George.
And how they would like to have sex with him.

I assure you that if that happened there would be backlash then as well.

I, personally, am no Twitard, and I am no anti twilight person, but I do not understand the use of the word Just in the bolded sentence.
Although Harry Potter was originally Just a book series, it is one of the best things I say has ever existed.
Maybe certain book series' are nothing more than one, but personally, I take of fence to that statement.

So what if Twilight was the first thing written about vampires? What if all of those things about burning up in the sun, and dying by being staked in the heart and whatnot was not the first vampire legend. What if vampires sparkling in the sun was the original legend? I wonder if people would think the same way?  :P

Wow you have not really read anything in this thread have you?
Sparkling is the icon of all the other things wrong with the series.
If someone took the weird mythology of the books in question and wrote something of quality then the sparkling would be the only thing to talk about.

The problem with twilight is not that it is just another vampire story with some glitter.
The problem is that it is a horrible romance story with sparkly vampires.

while I'm at it, let me address the thing that annoys be about the writing without ever having read the series.

The word SAGA.
Dictionary.com, help me out here.

1.    a medieval Icelandic or Norse prose narrative of achievements and events in the history of a personage, family, etc.
2.    any narrative or legend of heroic exploits.
3.    Also called saga novel. a form of the novel in which the members or generations of a family or social group are chronicled in a long and leisurely narrative.

#1? No sorry, Washington may seem cold and dreary but its got NOTHING on medieval Scandinavia and Iceland.

#2? Well some of you will argue about who is a hero and I doubt you'd convince us. But perhaps one or two actions in the whole series of events may be considered "heroic". We'll let that one slide on a case by case basis, it's still not a story about those exploits. They are far too rare and any exploits seem to be misplaced.

#3? I really hope that none of you will try and cling to this one the most. If the information I have is correct none of the novels could be said to really focus on a different "generation" of characters (unless maybe Edward starts diablerizing other licks. Heh, V:tM joke). While the story may be considered long by the time you've reached the third page I'd say it's far too riven with angst to be leisurely.

And before any of you try and invoke the Holy Trilogy, I would like to remind you that despite your opinion of the over all story arc it undoubtedly qualifies for definition 2 and 3.

This post is etymology only. If you wish to argue these points please rebut with etymological analysis.
Spoilers welcome.

The problem is that it is a horrible romance story with sparkly vampires.

Those are the same things. Most vampire stories are horrible romance ones, they just added glitter. And yeah, I have been looking at this thread, I've been posting in it. Duh. But I was asking hypothetically. And I was asking if Twilight was the first thing ever written about vampires if people would think differently.

I agree. Vampires are not real. So it doesn't matter who writes about them, or even if they're sparkly or not by someone else's opinion. People are taking this way too seriously, like the Twilight writer is the authority on all vampire mytholgy. Not to mention preteen romance.

I already answered that question but since you seem confused, let me sum up.

No people would not think differently. There are plenty of horrible romance stories involving things that could be called vampires from hundreds of years ago that nobody knows about.

I'm curious what you think the first vampire story "written" made vampires out to be. As someone who has been involved in vampire related games for about 11 years I'm pretty well versed in different vampire stories. Dracula himself could go outside in the sunlight without dying and did so frequently when conducting his business in London. Still, most people would tell you though that vampires are supposed to burst into flame and die in sunlight.

As far as "people taking things too seriously", I can tell you that I have never screamed as loud as possible or wet myself or thrown anything while discussing what is wrong with this series of books, movies, and related materials.

Hey, it's all good ^^
We seem to be the ones doing the most posting about this subject, even though we're each pretty much keeping a neutral position on the issue and not defending or bashing the Twilight series either way.
