Hey, I'm debating choreographing a dance to some Japanese songs, and maybe performing them at the con if there'll be a space to just start or something.
Just an idea I have.  I need to work on my choreography, but I'd want to have a group do it, so it's not just me up there...

Anyone interested?

Depends. What kind of dances do you have in mind?

I wouldn't mind trying out some dancing, especially to Japanese music.

What are the details of this though? Such as how the group could get together to practice?

Although, a solo dance sounds like a lot of fun :)

What I mean is like choreographing a techno song with techno like moves, or rock, with rock like moves.  But it would be Japanese music.  I haven't played Para Para, so I don't know what you mean, dreamcastsi.

Where we would meet would depend on how many of us there are...I have a little bit left of school, but any ideas for songs from the people interested in doing this?  I'll work on finding a space.

I think that they accept musical numbers for the karaoke and lip sync dance numbers for the cosplay.

Last year's Sailor Moon cosplay troupe had an awesome musical number.

Although I got more laughs out of the live action transformation sequence at the slumber party.

<thought>

I like the idea of the Japanese Fan Dance.

However, after a bit of research, I came up with no infos.  It is hard to make moves to a song if you can't find the traditional moves in the first place.  ^_^  Does anybody out there know of anything, any place that'd have more infos?  Nix at Powells, or at Barnes and Noble, already checked....*sigh*  Webpages, perhaps?

I think it would be a lot of fun to take and find a traditional song, and do some traditional stuff, then mix it slightly so that it morphs into a newer feeling song that we can do some more...well...catchy moves to.  ^_^

Think the Diva Dance from Fifth Element *those of you out there who watch Ami stuff*.  For those who don't know what I'm talking about, this chickie sings the most beautiful aria, and then it goes like....ass kick techno.

Maybe Techno is not the route to go, but it is super popular in Asia....heck, it's pretty popular just about everywhere but here.  ^_^  What does you think?

Dunno if this is outside my jurisdiction, but hey.  T'was just a thought.

As I am not familiar with Portland as well as some of you other peeplies, I can't really think of a place to practice.

As for costumes, I had a quickquick chat with Aya-chan and she suggested cosplaying the scene.  Loved the idea.  But...because of time constraints I thought it'd be groovy to have some cheap over-kimonos to throw on top of whatever else.  They'd be easy to make in comparison to a swankyswanky costume.  Plus, prolly not as warm.  ^_^  Comments, Suggestions?

Hey Aya, how many people are actually going to be in the troupe?

g'mornin.... >_<  *stumbles to class*
