Hilton Hotel -NOT- offering Kcon rates?
« on: January 02, 2010, 11:21:42 pm »
Okay, so I went to go reserve a hotel room and was rather floored by the answer I got from the actual Hilton hotel staff. They are NOT offering Kumoricon rates anymore? WHY is this?? I don't understand why they're NOT granting it when it's so far away, and only a few months passed when the last one ended. I mean, it's January SECOND for crying out loud, why are they capping the Kumoricon price so early? Can someone explain this to me?

I can honestly say that I'm not very happy at this moment :/

Did you use the KUM code? Otherwise, please contact hotel@kumoricon.org with detailed information about your situation so it can be resolved.

We are offering convention rates and they are not sold out yet.

This has happened tome for a couple years now. It never showed the discount rate until around June. And in last years case it didn't even show me the staff discount until the con itself.

The KUM code doesn't actually work when trying to book online.

Thank you to everyone who has brought this to my attention!

I apologize for not getting to this sooner! I have just sent an e-mail to the convention's
hotel contact regarding the issue. It was made known to me that our reservation rate and
code would carry over, but I imagine that due to the new year, the computer systems at
the Hilton may have hiccuped in transfering our rate, and the Front Desk or Web Staff may
not be fully aware of the issue. I will update you as soon as I get a confirmation that this
issue has been remedied. As always, feel free to contact me by Hotel@kumoricon.org if you
ever see a problem or have a question!

Double Post Because I Am Me.

YAYERS! THE CODE IS BACK UP!!

Continue to let me know if there are problems but as of RIGHT NOW
The code is functional again, "KUM" is what you put in for the rate code,
or call and tell the front desk agent I want the Kumoricon rate! ^_^

If there are any more glitches, let me know! Also, in about a week I should
have a link which automatically puts the code into the website for you... but
corporate has to set that up and it will take a wee bit!

Hey no problem! Always appreciate the encouragement but really, it's all about making the con
awesome! I'm just so excited people are already raring and jumping to get rooms! We wanna
make the con as awesome and fun as possible, and it looks like people are excited for this year,
despite what naysayers may have rained on our parade (not to mention the rain we had in 09! ^_^)

It's gonna be AWESOME!

KUM
That is what you type in when the Hilton website asks for a "Group/Convention Code"

Information on the discount is here;

Is there another problem with this or is the KUM code actually capped now??!!!!  :'( :'( :'(
My sister just tried to make our room reservation yesterday and she said it wouldn't accept it, or it was full, something along those lines.

As Far as I know nothing is wrong, just double checked with our connection at the
hilton and everything is working... I am still waiting on the link for the automatic
code imput (so you don't have to mess around with it).

Have you tried calling the hotel? Make sure you have the correct dates and
explicitly state that you are wanting the KUM code for Kumoricons roomblock.

Also, be aware that if you are trying to book at the Executive Tower, it wont
work at all, we've moved the entire block to the Main Tower for continuity of group
and ease of access.

Our room block was split into two sections, one section at the Exec Tower
one at the Main Tower. Our guests made up a significant portion of both
towers but did not fill the entirety of either. The remaining rooms (at Main)
went to;

5 Different Wedding Parties
3-4 Business Groups
Several Individual Hotel Guests

This year, there will be LESS of that (I say less because we wont have the whole
hotel completely to ourselves) and more of us and our awesomeness. This means
the majority of Main Tower staff time will be focused on US and our needs in a
friendly "You are the only people we need to worry about so we aren't neglecting
anyone else and we are HAPPY to help you" kind of way!

Thats what I am excited about! YAY!

Who said that? Did I say that?

If I did; Sorry that was a misinformation on my part. More appropriately it's
a generalization. For the greater of the hotel we will have it too ourselves.
There is the chance of a few rooms of individuals not of the convention whom
may get mixed in with us. But there will be no other large groups, medium groups
or small groups besides are own. I can't account for the handful of rooms that
may have a couple or a family in them here of there at different parts of the
weekend, but rest assured they will not take up any sembalance of a majority
of the hotel or it's time. We are the big fish, and we will be catered to! YAY!

If I didn't; Do not listen to the false prophets! I, Ally, Facilities Liaison am the only
one with a direct audience with the great hotel people on the mount. I hear there
words and I plead for our desires... hear me! and know my words are true!

*cough*

sorry... got into my power hungry voice there.... lol

Basically, the portion of our room block that was in the Executive Tower is being moved to the main tower. (Approximately--I don't know if the amounts are precisely the same.)

We may have a few individuals... no other groups...

Sorry, I made it sound like we wouldn't have the hotel to ourselves... I just didn't
want to make a blanket statement, and have that come back and bite me in the
but when someone gets a room next to a non-con attendee who is staring at their
Goku cosplay with confusion and mild fear. I don't want to give absolutes... because
you never know.

What I DO know is... NO Weddings! No Weddings! Or Ally will cry.

And trust me... you don't want Ally to cry.
