Have you seen The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie yet?  You definitely want to see the series first, or you won't understand most of what is going on.  It is also a massive spoiler, so don't watch it if you haven't seen the series first.

I just finished watching a bunch of older anime I have on my drives.  Shows I couldn't remember, or lost interest in.

Ray the Animation - This one is a spin off of BlackJack, about a female doctor with x-ray eyes.
Wagaya no Oinari-sama - A show about a fox spirit living with a Japanese family and protecting the youngest boy.  I enjoyed it.  If you like the InuYasha episodes where InuYasha is in the future with Kagome, then you have an idea of what this show is like.
Shion no Ou - An anime about shougi mixed in with a murder mystery.  A little far fetched, but enjoyable.
Ranma_-_Akumu Shunminko - This one slipped through my radar somehow.  I just love the opening scene!  Ranma, Akane, InuYasha, Kagome, Lum, and Ataru, all together and meeting for the first time.  I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.   ;D

I also watched the first episode of Rio Rainbow Gate.  This is another pantsu boing anime that is just silly.  It will be fun to watch, but not something I would miss.
I also saw the first couple episodes of Starry Sky - It is interesting, but not really gripping.  I'm not really all that impressed.  :-\

Yeah, that one is great!

Recently, I got to meet the English voices of Ranma and Shampoo.  I told them about this OVA, as well as provided a copy for Cathy Weseluck.  It might come over, mwahahahahaHA!

I am in the process of watching Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo!.  I am on episode 17.  Even I don't know why I didn't watch this series before.  :P

I also watched the first episode of Dragon Crisis! This show is a definite winner!  It may be surpassed though. I think that Kore wa Zombie desu ka may be even better.  Needless to say both are definite wins for this season.
I also watched the first episode of Level E.  It is good, but not on the level of the other two.
Beelzebub also looks like it will be a winner.  For some reason I kept thinking of Bleach while watching it.  Definite style similarities.
Wolverine also shows some promise.  I'll have to see a few more episodes to really decide.  Japan has an interesting way of handling Marvel comic heroes.
I am looking forward to continuing Kimi ni Todoke for another season.
I also watched the first episode of Infinite Stratos.  It has potential, but feels sort of forced.
Freezing Is a graphic, gore, pantsu, boing, fest.  It also is cropped weird for some reason.  The first episode has the OP and ED in HD and everything else in standard, but it looks like they took the HD and cut the sides off.  WTF  ???
Gosick looks like it will be fun.  We all need more goth lolli detectives.
Yumekui Merry and Puella Magi Madoka Magica just messed with my head.  These shows are going to make my head hurt.
Overall, it has been a good few days.
I'll be having a First Episode Theater during my next Anime Friday.  If you want to see all of these shows, just drop by.

Rating on the Wuntvor scale:
01. Kore wa Zombie desu ka
02. Beelzebub
03. Dragon Crisis!
04. Kimi ni Todoke S2
05. Gosick
06. Infinite Stratos
07. Wolverine
08. Freezing
09. Yumekui Merry
10. Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Who would of thought it?  Wuntvor rating a zombie flick as #1 and a Magical Girl show as #10.  :o

I've recently given Hetalia another chance.  Maybe it's because I'm starting from the beginning this time, or maybe because it's in English, but I'm enjoying it.  I still think it's getting more love than it deserves, but it's still a good series (thus far).

Just finished Macademi Wasshoi!  Now that show is one crazy messed up ride.  I want to go again!  :o  If you like the wacky shows, like Excel Saga or FLCL, then give it a try.  I am going to try finishing up Kemeko Deluxe next.  I just hope my brain doesn't explode.   ;D

I got around to start watching Inu Yasha. It's a lot better than I thought. I wish I had it subbed. I have to have the sound up too loud to hear the talking over the mood music, so I can't really watch it after work. boo hoo Watch it before work! Watch Genshiken 2 after work!

I wonder if it would help to have everyone put Inu Yasha in their Netflix queue. They are missing most of the discs, and if of a sudden tons of people put it on their list, maybe they would get those holes filled. Yeah, right, as if anything ever gets filled in the Netflix black hole of doom.

Hey Jay,

I have the 167 episodes of InuYasha in dual audio.  I will get the 26 episodes of The Final Chapter in dual audio when available.   ;D

I am currently watching Zone of Enders.  I'm liking it so far. it has sort of a Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star feel to it.  Dolores, makes this show!

Zone of Enders? Was this written by Orson Scott Card? lol Sounds good.

Clockwork Fighters-Hiwou's War, is what I started on last night, after burning through a disc of Genshiken 2. I'm surprised I was able to make myself stop. I really like this series. It is creative, and full of energy. And the main character is a jr. mad scientist mischevious (sic) imp.

In between all the stuff I'm watching this season, I'm taking the time to finish off the latter two seasons of Hidamari Sketch and Serial Experiments Lain.

Usually in back-to-back episodes.

It's been a weird couple of weeks.

Well, it has yet to be licensed, so there wouldn't be any legal issues (for now).  I'd have to present it to the Dir. of Prog., but I doubt she'd go for it,... maybe... ;D

Technically, there would be legal issues anyway. Most fansubbers and fans consider it ethical to stop distribution once an anime is licensed, but copyright applies whether it's licensed or not.

(Whether it should is another matter.)

I'm looking at it from the perspective of college laws.  In our case, we can show things that aren't licensed by an American/Canadian company, unless we've gotten consent from said companies.  We have four, with a fifth saying they want to know about every time we show one of their shows.  I could care less about the ethics of fansubbers.

Technically (again), colleges don't have laws. They have policies.

(I know I'm being picky, but confusion of policies with laws seems to be getting quite common, and it disturbs me more than a little.)

Then let's throw in regulations to the mix.

When it comes down to it, we have so many rules, regulations, laws, ordinances, blah, blah de blahs, that it makes you wonder how we can call ourselves a "free people".

Anyway, I'm liking Hiwou's War aka Clockwork Fighters. It's just a bit too much of a stretch of my imagination, but for its target audience, I think it would do wonders. Make kids interested in physics, and science, but without trying kind of thing. I think that's due to showing the applied physics, rather than demonstrating the math of it all.

I also like the OP song/music. It's a rockin' little number. But then the music is interesting to me for all the little bits and pieces for the mood. Mandolins and other instruments I can't think the name of off the top of my head, and more than one musical catch phrase are used throughout the show.

This would be a good show for American kids, but I wonder if it can't be brought to TV here, because of the killing taking place in the late Tokugawa shogunate era. Or if they think that it is too nerdy, or what...

Do you have a link for when these laws that apply only to colleges were passed and what they state?

If so, please PM it to me - this is pretty much a tangent now, but I'd be curious to see. I can't recall hearing about anything other than token relaxations of copyright law for quite a long time.

I have no idea where it'd be listed on the net.  This is in some books available at the college, as well as club handbooks on what we can and can't do, both according to college rules and state/federal laws.  If it were up to the college, we could show whatever we wanted, excluding hentai.  The best that I could do is remember to bring one of these books to a future meeting.

Dennou Coil - it's good to see an anime that could be for kids in terms of characters, theme, and lacking fanservice, but doesn't make you feel dumber for watching it.

@randompvg - Have you been watching Fractale?  The whole dopple thing made me think of Dennou Coil while I was watching it.  It got pretty dark in the last episode.  I am still trying to figure out where they are going with the story. :-\  Dennou Coil got sort of dark as well, now that I think about it.   :)

Jay, I stated watching this after reading your post.  I just finished episode five.  This is one wacky show!  They tend to cut away from things, and then progress the story, without letting you know how the characters handled the situation.  I think the worst example so far was when they first activate the human form for Homura to get out of the swamp. They show Homura falling down while running away from the Wind Gang, then they cut to Homura in festival cart form being pulled by horses (which they later get to keep and never seem to care for) along with the important personage and his samurai guards.  Huh?  Then the kids leave their escort and go off on their own, and the adults let them!  In fact , I will assume they gave them the two horses.  Hello?  I don't think so!  Then they stay with a poor country couple whose two children died and decide to leave the youngest two kids with them.  Then the one kid leaves with the baby to find the others and the lady who was watching them doesn't notice?  What was she doing that she left the baby unattended long enough for the young kid to grab it and run far enough away that she never caught up to him?  An adult chasing a 5 or 6 year old carrying a baby.  I won't even go into the clockwork machines themselves.  I would have expected a big explosion when the super heated boiler in the large battle wolf hit the river.  I also question the actions of the one samurai who takes Machi off to get revenge.  OK boy why don't the two of us charge the enemy group head on?  He thought that was a good idea?

It is a fun show, just don't try to understand it.

I think I like Hunter x Hunter better.  A similar style of story, but it flows better.

I may, later... right now I'm just cheesed on principle about the stunt the producers pulled on Funimation - "We're not going to sue the people here who are providing the RAWs for fansubs, but if you don't sue the people who are downloading it, we're pulling the license." If they'd made provision for the English-speaking people who can't watch the Funimation sub (by the terms of the license) because they're in the wrong region, that'd be one thing. Or if they'd had the courage to do it themselves, that'd be another. But to strongarm Funimation into being their proxy left a sour taste n my mouth.

It's fair enough to think that everyone suing each other is the American way, as I've heard joked about in different anime and manga. But that doesn't make it right for the producers to demand something they're unwilling to do themselves.

Currently re-watching and loving: Shakugan no Shana. It gets a little bogged down in romance and loses its dark edge as the show goes on, but it's still a favorite.

I think the target audience for Clockwork Fighters is 10-12 years old. I guess. Never let a fact get in the way of a good story! Also, remember that here in Oregon the average age for a woman getting married was 12, and the men's average was 50. Do you think many people bothered to look after someone else's problem aka kids back then? They might have to feed them ya know!

Some of these impossible things, well I just take them as impossible things, and try to not let the elasticity of my willing suspension of disbelief to snap.

Wait until the last few episodes if you're worried about flow. But hey, it's got better continuity than Gundam. lol does anything have worse continuity than Gundam?

It wasn't the fact that they were kids.  I would assume they felt the oldest two kids were old enough to care for the others, no, it was the fact that they gave them two horses, that appear to be thoroughbreds, probably Arabian. They aren't plow horses that is for sure.  Want to guess the value of two horses in the mid 1800's?  "Yeah, we will just give them to you, you need something to pull that thing with right?  Oh and they murdered the entire village you say, gee that is too bad, well have a nice trip, we gotta head on to the next village down the road, we don't have time to go hunting mass murdering arsonists right now."   ::)  I'm sorry, I had a hard time swallowing that whole episode.  Do they ever feed and water those horses?  Were do they stable them?  They give the elephant a name, but they never name the horses.  I also am annoyed with the whole "let's not show how they got out of the predicament" bit.  They do it quite a bit in this show.  The story writer is a firm believer in deus ex machina.   Well I just finished episode 20.  I'll watch the last six when I get up.  Good night.

The different Gundam series have pretty good continuity. You have to remember most of the series aren't set in the same universe.

I started on this season's anime. So far there isn't one that I have seen that I hate. Except I didn't enjoy Beelzebub as much as many of you. Perhaps it's too stupid to me. Just like most of what we get domestically.

As I got so far behind watching InuYasha, I started watching what I have alphabetically. Dragon Crisis, is so moe/kawaii as far as I'm concerned. I really want to follow this one.

Freezing is a guilty pleasure. If you don't have a problem with paper clothes, I think it has value. And for having women as the characters, I'd say it was a fairly manly anime. It has good military leadership lessons.

Gosick, I was 1/2 thinking I was not going to like it very much. And it did take a few more episodes to become involved with the storyline, than some others this season. However, I like this anime. Victorique (pronounced Viktorika), is not as annoying as I had originally feared. The hero guy is a bit cardboard, but seems to serve as Victorique's foil well enough.

Kimi Ni Todoke didn't start off well. I feel like, almost, they were retelling the story from square one. Whew, they weren't, not exactly. But we lost a lot of ground, and are having to re-do much of what we thought we had grown. But... I found I was out of episodes really quickly. I <3 Sawako!

Level E is nuts. But in a good way. Feels kind of like Durarara meets Men in Black, but with more left field insanity.

Oh Yeah, let's not forget Blade Break aka Broken Blade. Still lovin' that.

My Netflix stuff has been abysmal.

I recently purchased El-Hazard: The Wanderers since I've only seen up to ep. 9 or so.  Great series; I'm watching it all the way through again.

Just finished Avenger yesterday. It was a decent anime, certainly not the best. Visually it was somewhat basic compared to the other things I've been seeing lately (Origin: Spirits of the Past, Basilisk), but not distractingly so. The story was interesting, too, but again, not exemplary or anything.
