How many costumes is too many?

I started with 1, then went to 2, and have now extrapolated since then, but I feel like at a certain point, you have to change so frequently its not worth making some of the costumes! What is your opinion on the optimal number of costumes!?

One costume for each day of the con plus a costumes for dances is my preference. So about three or four. I get antsy when I only have one cosplay to wear

I wouldn't go above one per day. If I put time and effort into making them, I want to be able to wear them for a decent amount of time. I also don't have infinite time for costume-making, and I'd rather have one really great costume than several mediocre ones.

I also don't stay at the hotel, which would make changing midway through the day difficult unless a friend has a room I can leave my things in.

For a three-day convention I bring a minimum of 6 costumes. Maximum is 12, because anything more than that means you're spending too much time in the hotel room dressing and undressing.

Like most of the people here, I do 3. I was going to do 4 this next year, 1/day then 1 for the Masquerade, but the Masquerade outfit is also going to be my Monday outfit since my original couple cosplay for Monday isn't going to happen this year.

But yeah.....4-6 would be the most, and that would only be if you're participating in the cosplay contests with different outfits from your regular con outfits.

I try very hard for one a day. But my mood may change and the shoot may end and I may feel like changing into another one. I've had up to 3 in one day. It was fun, except for the fact that i was on the 8th floor...and took the stairs every time.

I am still working on completing my first set of cosplays since I have so little time...but 1 per day would be ideal for me.

1 per day. like you use your super good cosplays on the two full days and your not so good but still cool cosplay on the last day. or you could go out with a bang and use your best one on the last day, whatever works.

i say 3 or 4... one for each day and one for maskurade. but thats just how i am now because i can only go to one con per year right now. eventualy i want to have a total of 2 i take, wear them both at least one whole day and then decied which one i like better for the 3rd day

One per day is usually the best.
Otherwise, you have to go through the process of rushing the change so that you can get back to con activities.
If you rent a room, you could pull off quite a few, but it still probably wouldn't be too pleasant.

It depends how hard your cospay is to put on. Maybe you need make up or something. Camo o0n my face for Naked Snake maybe?

I could do 2 on one day and the rest of the days are one cosplay.

I usually go for one per day + masquerade/formal. Sometimes I'll wear one for only part of a day but I can't see myself doing that now.

my normal is 4, 3 per day and masquerade. But that's usually because It's all I had. For sakura-con/kumoricon '10, I'll have more that 4 different cosplays (6 or so to be exact) so it'll be hard which ones to choose

1 per day with your most relaxed comfy one for the last day, and a formal outfit or cosplay if you attend the ball!

I have around 30 or so planed cosplays, but the majority of them are for photoshoots and what not. and most of them are spread out through the next 3 or so years.

I try to go for one per day, plus the rave/masqurade cosplays
