2010 Gaming Tournaments
« on: February 09, 2010, 07:28:32 pm »
Well, my choices might not be realistic, but the thread should be started for the next con!

I've always wanted to have a FFVIII Triple Triad minigame tournament! Unfortunately, I don't think you can have multiple human players playing it. Same with Blitzball from FFX.

I would like to see a BlazBlue tournament (I would like to see that on PS3, which I can provide if necessary as I play on an arcade stick for PS3)
A DDR tournament would be cool, and if we -could- a Brawl+ tournament (seeing as normal Brawl is anything but competitive @_@)

If only the gods would love us enough to grant us this one...I might actually spend some time in the gaming tourneys then.

Just a comment on some of the suggestions;

We had a Blazblue tourney last year. (PS3) Will most likely be held again.
What is the difference between Brawl and Brawl+?
We have had DDR tourneys in years past. Not sure if its going to be held again.

Since its so far in advance we havent looked at what tourneys we will run. We have been focused on layout first.

Good thread though. The feedback/suggestions are appreciated.

Brawl+ is a patch for Brawl that basically makes it able to be held competitively competently. Some peeps rebalanced characters and froze some stages (Like Pokemon Stadium 2) and modded other stages (Example: Skyworld has invincible bottom tiles, but the others are perma-broken). They also sped up the gameplay (It's close to Melee speeds, maybe a little faster), took out tripping, and added dash-dancing (Personal fav! xD) It'd be hard to hold it as a tourney I realize, as it is homebrew and is most easily installed on a soft-modded Wii (But can be done on a non-modded Wii). The sit is brawlplus.net (If I remember correctly)

Also: Glad to hear it's on PS3, I'll bring my arcade stick and pwn some noobs with the power of communism! (Tager Main! If you can't tell from my DP lol)

Starcraft, DDR Doubles, N64 Podracing, Mario Kart Double Dash, Geometry Wars 2, pong, etc.

I know it's all totally unrealistic, but I'll be damned if I'm going to get decent enough at a popular game to do well in a tournament.

A pokemon tournament is a must. You could hold it either with the ds or on the wii with Battle Revolution ^^

Hey everyone this year's official tournaments for Console Gaming have been decided and the time slots have been locked in.
I will be posting a comprehensive list of rules, regulations, and the final schedule in a new thread sometime this next week.

EDIT: The full list will be up by midnight tomorrow night following final checks at the meeting.
