Cosplayers to Non-cosplayers ratio
« on: February 22, 2010, 03:34:22 pm »
Several people have asked how many cosplayers there are compared to non-cosplayers. I want to get a better idea.

The number on the forums will be disproportionate to those who attend Kumoricon in general.

I'd assume more forum people cosplay o3o

We went over this in a thread a while back...
And I brought up this pic from '08. I counted about 41 cosplayers and 25 not, (so about two-thirds) however, casual cosplays are hard to recognize, and some people might just be wearing weird clothes.

If you mean cosplay in general... Well, most con-goers have cosplayed, to a certain extent, at one point, so... It'd be pretty hard to really grasp. ^^'

Judging by all the signatures that mention cosplaying.. I think a lot of people cosplay. I am really excited. This is the first year i've been able to go and I'm cosplaying umbreon.

First k-con and I cannot wait!

I'd say 1 in 5 (20%) would be a good estimate.  The large number would be due to the number of parents that are there otherwise I'd say 1 in 10.

I'd guestimate (if that's even a word) that a little more than half cosplay. But that's counting a recognizable and identifiable character or person from an anime, video game, or Japanese celebrity. As far as people wearing catears, foxtails, Japanese fashion, original characters, or other unique clothing (including Renaissance dresses and/or Pirate clothes) that easily bumps the number up to 75% or 80%. I know very rarely will I see someone not wearing anything interesting.

Well, you can add me to the cosplayer list. Whether or not I'll go in costume to KumoriCon this year I don't know, or if I'll even attend at all with the Star Wars Celebration V only a month before, but I do cosplay. I just need to do it more often.

yeah I'd agree with the post above and say somewhere in the realm of 1-5 or 1-6. and most of those are adults.
It's a lot different number at a con like Kumori-con than it is at a mega-con like Sakura-con, where I'd say the number was more like 1-3. There's less to buy and fewer panels and celebs at Kumori-con, so there's more of an emphasis on personal interection, therefore...I'd say more people cosplay.

I'd also agree with everyone else and say that almost everyone who is obsessive enough to go to the forum, prolly cosplays.
I know I do  :D

Gijinka or normal pokemon?

Also on the subject, last year at Kcon, it seemed like 50% or more were cosplaying. But then again, the people who werent never stood out so I dont know. LOL

I am going to cosplay for the first time this year too.
Kumoricon 2014 Cosplay plans:

Kantai Collection Kongou Crossplay (Maybe)
