Yay, I'm glad it made sense! Also I just found my tape measure earlier (yay cleaning!) and measured the swords for you. The blade is 18.5", and the handle is 7" total, because I added a little decorative wood piece to the end. I found them in the wood crafts section -- they were supposed to be miniature flower pots, I think, but they ended up being the perfect size to glue to the end of the handle and look really nifty as end pieces.

I'm preeeetty sure mine was 1/8 inch too. Either way, that's definitely thick enough! And I don't mind the questionspamming at all, honestly XD I'm happy to help! <3

They actually had a thicker one but it looked too thick... it was probably 1/4 inch.

Yeah, since you're doubling them up, you don't want them to be too thick. The wood glue is already going to make them a little bit thicker than they would be on their own, and add an extra layer of stability to the finished product! I think you made the right call.

Yeah. I don't know if I actually want to carry them around on Halloween though, since I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to have weapons on campus, even fake ones. (Normally I wouldn't be too worried but they're really strict on Halloween because... it's Ashland.)

Last year they had door guards to get back into the dorms... but that might have been because Halloween fell on a weekend last year, and people tend to be crazier when they don't have to go to class the next day. It doesn't help that they're very obviously swords and would be rather difficult to hide. (BUT I'M GOING TO MAKE THEM ANYWAY BECAUSE STUFF THAT ISN'T SEWING.)
