Do you guys have any rules on glow toys (Poi, glow hoops, etc)? I'm just checking because this Sakuracon I had to fight to get my hoop in and it's not dangerous at all unless your being stupid with it. But besides that i'd love to bring it and dance with it. ^-^

It should be fine as long as it's "peace bonded", isn't used as a weapon and common sense applies.  Be aware of your surroundings and ensure enough space around you that your not whacking someone with poi.  We've had poi and other glow toys used at the Kumoricon dances in the past this shouldn't be any different rules wise.

I would kind of like a little more info on the dress code.  What's acceptable / what isn't?  Seems really vague.  Would a button up shirt with an undershirt + jeans + tennis shoes be considered OK or..?

no flip flops, T-shirts, or ripped jeans [/qoute]

So, yes, sneakers and jeans are okay.  We do not allow ripped jeans.  Flip flops are disallowed because you can't dance in them.  Well, you can, but, it likely wouldn't go well for you after about 20 minutes.

Hi! Despite having read through the thread I'm still confused on this dresscode.

So far I have gathered that you can't wear RIPPED jeans (whole are fine) or flip flops... and tee shirts (as said by Jamiche in OP)? But Nikkiolie's faux ripped tee shirt was okay'd (by Rathany)?

Are we allowed to wear tee shirts? It'd be awful to show up and be denied entry 'cause of dress code.

And from what I can tell from the communication in this thread the dress code rules have gone through somewhat of an evolutionary process, haha, I understand how that goes. ;D

Thank you for your further clarification. =)

The shirt pictured earlier is technically a T-shirt, but is still a nice shirt.  It's nicer than your run of the mill T shirt.  The best thing to do is to email Kumoricat@ to get your outfit okay'd.

The dress code has evolved from dressy-ish to more casual, to appeal to more people.

Regarding the t-shirt that was asked about - it's the style of the shirt.  So, while there may be "rips" in it, it's deliberate and not the end result of a bad run in with a pair of scissors.

What we don't want to see is someone showing up in some ratty old t-shirt, ripped jeans because they didn't care enough to clean up a bit.  You are going out to a social event.. try a little.

That being said... I am a big fan of nice jeans and a nice shirt (and that can be a t-shirt).  If it looks like you tried, odds are you are fine.  But if it looks like you just came from the gym.. probably not.

But, like Rathany said, if you have concerns, you can always email kumoricat@ and we will try and answer your questions.

So are you saying if its nice New jeans with rips in it on purpose then its allowed? Also is it allowed to wear tube tops, short goth skirts, shirts that have rips in them on purpose? trying to make my outfit.

Lets make it simple as crayola here:

NO TO WEAR:
Ripped jeans (be they store bought or otherwise, cause how can we tell the difference?)
Ratty/Old T-shirts; screen tees, printed tees, tuxedo tees
NOTE: this does not include shirts similar instyle to the babydoll designer shirt shown in a previous post.
flipflops/thong style sandals (safety and dress code issue)

ALLOWED TO WEAR:

Nice attire as you would wear out to a club or school dance. Please dress appropriately for an event with minors in attendance (as in; lets keep those booties covered please!) and wear shoes you can wear the
entire night.

As a note; we are not trying to be hard or condemning on clothing choices. If it looks like you tried, we wont turn you away. Please try and dress up for this event as we'd like it to be a classy "Cat Ball" You'd wear your best dance attire to that wouldn't you?

If it helps; pretend you are going on a date with a cute guy/girl or your boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife but before you leave you have to pass approval by Stacy and Clinton for a night on the town... how would you dress to impress?

Do I need to make a list of items okay or does that solve the problems?

My sister and I aren't going as Seto and Joey anymore, but we're still going and dressing up! (I'm going to go out and buy me some cat ears, since my dog ears don't go with my dress.)

I also have to buy some new heels because I didn't bring any with me for this weekend....

Note:  We will be able to continue to check the Kumoricat@ email address even once set-up has started.  Yay for smartphones!  I mention this because sometimes people have assumed that they can't ask us last-minute questions.  You can!

So, everyone, please remember IDs, parental permissions if needed aaaannndd.... whatever else you might need.

Now, I must sleep.  Busy day tomorrow.  (... I still haven't made the cat ears for my outfit ...)

There will be anime and video game music.  Pretty heavy early in the night and sprinkled throughout the rest of the sets later on.  Although there will be lots of 4/4 on the floor and some game remixes as well.

I recognized a couple forum peoples but I didn't say anything either xD
I mainly just stuck to my group of friends I brought with me since for most of them it was their first experience with a dance like that or anything related to Kumoricon at all, but now I got the ones who haven't been to Kcon before wanting to go, and one of them actually pre-reged now! Woot.

Me and my friend had such an awesome time! Feels nice to just let loose with fellow Otaku's, since I feel really self conscious at my school dances ;_;

I was the one in the Vampire Knight cosplay :P

I saw you!!

I had fun (first pre-con dance)!  And location-wise, well...half a mile from my house, couldn't ask for much better, heh.

Also eager to see pictures, seemed like the photographer was keeping plenty busy!  ;D
I doubt, therefore I might be.

Haa, I'd love to hang out with you guys at con.

@Reppy, last Kumo I huged you and remembered something about fake boobs and crossplay, and I'm sure it was you who told me I'd be the one to mistake you for a girl, I think I did actaully >>

Ohh I'm a nerd, should see me at school
