I love our weather... its quite weird... Like that snow storm 2 years ago...
*flashes back to the Christmas of 2008*
4 ft of snow EVERYWHERE! and heaven forbid that the corporate office of
Regal would let the Division St. Theater CLOSE when NO ONE could get there...
I walked 40 blocks up division from my apartment on 121st & Division to the
theater, helping poor shmucks who got stuck trying to make the jump from
side streets to the main road and getting stuck in the heaping piles of snow that
had gathered from the plows as I went. Took me forever and when I finally
got to work, the corporate office made us stay open till 6:00 pm, but wouldn't
approve a plow truck (not until the 3rd day of snow did they relent!)
So we manned the freezing theater (several of the heating units had completely
iced up and no one was brave enough to scale the theater and screw around with
the rooftop units) And played all of about 4 movies (some of the projectors too,
were having trouble starting in the cold, which meant moving prints when movies
sold tickets).
It was all very.... low tech and quaint, and if you remember a girl in a Regal Uniform
helping you out of a giant snow drift in big canvas snow boots or making a igloo in
front of the theater, then you saw me, trying to make the best of my 4 double shifts
the week of Christmas 2008.
Like I said, weather in Oregon can be weird! But adventure is fun!
