REGISTRATION IS OPEN AT THE DOOR!
« on: July 25, 2005, 08:44:05 pm »
Pre-registration is no more as of August 12 - register by then to get the discounted price of $35.  Also, bear in mind that last year we were shocked by the sheer number of attendees - a quantity that was so big that we were forced to shut down on-site registration and had to turn people away.  And every time I had to turn a person away (as I was usually the one behind the counter doing so), it made me sadder and sadder, to the point that I just wanted to crawl into a hole after I finally got a break.

Don't make PezCat cry!  I want everyone to get into the con!  Pre-register so I don't have to say no... Pleaaaaase?!  =^@.@^=

@ Kendra

In terms of pre-registration, there is no cap.  If you pre-register, you're getting in.  As for the registration cap, we don't know for sure.  Basically, registration closes when the powers that be say "we can't hold anymore people."  Last year we cleared a thousand before that happened, but I didn't know how many we had (I was too busy letting people in).  I just remember it surprising the hell outta me that we did close reg.

If you're inquiring about the hotel rooms (which is my guess), then it's 4.  And they are willing to split hotel bills for people.

How much will registration be at the door? I've found myself short of cash to register  by the 12th which is tomorrow due to Rock Fest. I understand I'm taking my chances of not making it in if you cap the registration, but I'm forced to do so.
Please help me... this is the first year I'm getting a chance to attened the whole weekend cause last year I heard about it from the Oregonian and only attened on I think it was Monday. I forget, I have a terrible memory, lol.

Weekend registration will be $40 at the door.  Day badges will be about $20 I think for Saturday & Sunday, with $15 Monday.  Basic design making it cheaper to get a weekend pass than 2 day badges.

What time will the registration booth be open to buy a badge? I'm planning on getting there before anyone really starts lining up, unlike what I did at sakuracon. I had to wait like a couple hours in line, and I don't plan on doing that again...-__-

Registration usually opens Saturday morning for people to buy badges, it's up to PezCat whether that's 8am or 9am, or somewhere in between.

The target time is going to be 8am each day.  Also, God willing, I am planning to have a night-before badge pickup (exact time still to be determined)

Only two more days to pre-register online!  Snail mail registration is closed, but if you want to solidify your spot and get in for just a little cheaper, register online by August 19 at 11:59pm, 'cause at midnite it's too late, and you'll have to pay at-the-door!

724 ONLINE pre-regs.  Compare that to last year where we got about 430 TOTAL pre-regs.  We have over 150 mail-ins, I'm not sure on the number on that PezCat could update the number more accurately for us in the next week.  But we're looking at twice as many pre-regs as last year, way to go people!

For those of us that mailed our pre-registrations, approximately when should we expect to recieve this 'confirmation e-mail' that I read about? I mailed mine last Thursday or Friday, if that effects things.

The reasons the 'confirmation e-mails' take forever is that they arrive at the address, the checks are removed and deposited when available, then the forms are handed off to Pezcat via a 3rd party sometimes (very trustworthy though), and then he inputs them into the database, and if he remembers, he sends out a confirmation e-mail.

What are the different pass options? Will there only be day and weekend passes? Are there dealer room passes this year?
And God said, "Let there be Anime." And it was good.

There will be daily passes and full weekends, but no dealer's room only unless we get over 2,500 people.

As numbers do include staff (as staff pays admission as well), but does not include guests, the numbers as they stand for hard copy (i.e. snail mail or in-person) registrations is 214.  This does NOT include what is to be considered the "last" batch of snail-mail registrations (i.e., those who mailed it off within a week of the Aug. 12 postmark deadline), but DOES include the registrations from the August 14 meeting.

These numbers bring our pre-registrations (tentatively) to 938, with a possibility of a slight increase from there.  Pre-registrations have more than doubled from last year - and last year the convention nearly tripled in size.  If our pre-regs are an indicator of how the convention is going to tally up, our con is growing at an almost unheard-of rate in just its third year.

And of course, we can't do it without each and every one of you.

THANK YOU!!!  =^~_~^=

It would need to be an in-person thing, actually, as technically even the pre-registrations will be dealt with in-person when they collect badges.  That, and badges will not be for sale Friday night.  Friday is an early-bird badge pickup for those who manage to make it early and would like to circumvent the lines in the morning, but no sales will be occurring.  Sorry.

A reminder to everyone who did not get a chance to pre-register:  Registration is still available at the door for $40 (for the entire convention), and single-day passes are available at the door for $20 on Saturday and Sunday (prices drop to $15 on Monday).

So if you didn't get to pre-register, you are NOT locked out, honest!  We don't forsee having to cap attendance, but if through some bizarre phenomenon we do clear 3000 attendees, we will have to cap attendance at that number - so be early if you want to make sure you don't miss any of the fun!
