Fanfiction Bedtime Stories 2010
« on: August 24, 2010, 10:53:08 am »
So, who's planning to read/perform what?   ;D

And how many of the fashionably shy types out there already know they want to request a reader to perform their story for them?

I'm planning on reading my adult-level one at the 18+ panel.  I won an award for it at AE.  It's a one-page story.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

Awesome. We usually have at least one shy newbie a year :) And if we don't, perhaps one of our more seasoned pros would loan you a fic....better yet, come to one of our Open Writing sessions, drabble contests, or improv games & write your own :)

I am tempted to come read a fic, though to write my own would end in a horror no person would comprehend.  That is unless it was only a page long, otherwise I would not have time to go through it 10+ times and correct myself over and over and over again.

I will be reading a short One Piece fanfiction called "Lay Your Weary Head to Rest" and subjecting the audience to my singing because there's a lullaby in it.

I'd be sorely tempted to semi-act it out, but I don't think there's any chance I could find a complete Straw Hat Crew... XD

Is it anything like "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas?

Actually no, I just yoinked a lyric for the title... XP ('Tis a great song, though.)

The lullaby is one they sing in my family, and it's to the tune of a Bohemian folk song.

Oh, I was there! At least the 18+ one. Really nice Yuffie x Vincent story. Short, sweet and to the point with a good deal of entertaining language in the process. Worth the time of going, that's for sure^^
I'm pretty sure we did the passing out little slips of paper and making pictures or writing after that, which I am still on to make a good Alice's Adventures In Wonderland fic for ^^

I'd love to hear that fic last year!
The Yuffie X Vincent was FilkAeris's own "Close Quarters", which won a prize in Creation Station's Fanfic contest this year!

badass. It was, after all, a pretty good fic ^^ I liked it ^^
I think the only fics I could count in would be Volunteers or A Love Carol, which are both Naruto ione shots with, sadly, absolutely NO citrus! But those would be better off for Mew-Con since they are christmas fics.

YAY for Mew-Con!
Wait...is there a fanfic contest there?
Is there a fanfic open mic there?
Or were you suggesting Creation Station folks try to hold either there?
Several of us, going all the way back to our Beta Station at Kumoricon 2004, will be there.

You might want to have it mentioned in the schedule that there is a 5 minute time limit to read.

I did read two of my fics.  But, unfortunately, I had a froggy voice and my nervousness and shyness caused my speech impediment issues to rear its ugly head.
 :(

Historically, the panel facilitators have varied the amount of time allocated to each reader with the length of time of the entire panel and the number of people who have signed up to read/perform. Thank you for your input, though.

I personally felt like some of the stories read needed the 5 min. limit, but a few could've used more.  (5 was almost perfect for mine, but I sort of cut out a few lines in order to make it happen).  As a whole, I think 5 is a fine limit.
