It looks like I'll be up the weekend of October 7th to the 10th. Me and Shay were thinking that a photoshoot meetup Saturday the 9th in Esther Short Park Vancouver (right by Kumoricon's '11 hotel) would be really fun, do you think you guys would be available for that?

Oct 9th in Esther Short Park in Vancouver looks like it would work for me. I like the idea of having both a Portland day and a Vancouver day. For me, the best time to have the Portland day would probably be either Sat Oct 23 or Sun Oct 24. Time and location to be determined.

Regarding the other question about what the assistant would do . . . different photographers want different things. For me, the assistant will do a variety of things: a lot of it is holding lighting equipment, but it can also be other things too, like helping out with safety (spotting the models if they are in a situation where they might fall, or helping the model navigate in a costume that is difficult to see out of). It's also good to have someone who can deal with props and help make sure that the model's hair, make up, and costume are right.

Ahhh yeah, I will be seeing you the 9th and either the 23rd or the 24th then! When it gets a bit closer to the 9th you can pick what time would work best for you to meet. Should we have time blocks of shoots like we did at con or have everyone meet at the same time?

For the Vancouver one, I'd like that to be more like what we did at Kumoricon, focusing on 1 or 2 models at a time, with multiple time slots if necessary.

Then for Portland, we can have a large free-form meet up, with a big group, everyone there at once, more of a social thing.

Oh, you're right, that is a good point. We should probably start a new thread for the Portland shoot. This has evolved a little since we first started talking about it. Based on what people have said so far, Dana isn't coming to the Vancouver shoot and most people are saying they're coming to Portland, so Vancouver will be a smaller more private one, and mostly designed for the people I've worked with before.

Portland will be the big group thing and should have its own thread.

The Vancouver shoot is Oct 9, and it is "mostly" for people I have worked with before, but that includes you, and you can bring a friend.
