I hope your skirt's better than mine in terms of on/off...

I can get my skirt on over my head fine~ Not off easily... So I seam ripped the waistband off, to do another one later, and will install a short zipper on the side >>

Well, mine's kind of a wrap skirt attached to a wrap shirt (technically she wears a dress but for the sake of my sanity and so that I don't have to deal with such LARGE AMOUNTS OF FABRIC I'm making it in two pieces and sewing them together. Her belts will hide the seam.) So for now it's pretty adjustable. I was considering using a zipper down the back but decided against it because my con plans for this year had to go through a drastic reshuffle and my time/budget for this one shrank by quite a bit.

It's something I already had and am altering it. I might need to make a brand new one from scratch :/

I also need to find out how to make neck and wrist ruffs.

:o They have patterns for a Doublet at Joanns I SAW IT ONCE!
and if you do you'll at least be able to make it on your own terms and adjust it easier then a bought one.

:o I just get a long sleeved button down and seam rip the cuffs off for a pattern for cuffs. :D That's not as lazy as what some people do though. XD

I don't have a sewing machine though. So I'd worry about the sturdy-ness of the doublet if I did it by hand. Oh well, just got to brush up on my sewing skills I guess.
Oh, I was talking about ruffs like these:
http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/c/0/0/9d/e/AAAADKlwzV4AAAAAAJ3p2w.jpg?v=1261001670000
I suppose it won't be too difficult. Looks fairly simplistic in this example.

I'VE MADE THOSE!

Mine is slightly different, here's a pic.

If this is what you're looking to do, I can make a quick tutorial if you want.

:O OH! 8D That's pretty easy, you just take a long stripe of fabric and sew very large stitches into it, then you scrunch it up at the end.

XD tutorials are awesome. 8DDDD

Hmm, ok, I think I got the general concept. Those ruffs are slightly different but it's the same general idea. Thanks :]

Actually I tried multiple things for my ruff and that didn't quite work- the fabric doesn't stay up.

What I did is I took one super long strip and sewed it to a collar I made, going up and down. It's hard to explain, but I can post a pic if you want.

Well I posted a pic on the last page, but let me go get my ruff and take a close-up pic.

It's fairly easy, it just took forever to make. Like 6+ hours of handsewing |:

Okay, here's a side view of the ruff:

Can you see what I did?

I sewed the strip down, folded it, and then sewed it the opposite direction.

A bunch of them.

This is the inside of the collar part. My stitches are super messy but I did this like the week of the con haha.

I have a book that has a lot of great patterns and tutorials for period clothes from 1500-1600, including ruffs and doublets and whatnot if you'd like me to try to scan/take pictures of the pages.
Line up:
-Kageyama (Haikyuu)
-Cordelia (Fire Emblem Awakening)
-Marauder Ashe (League of Legends)
-??? Who knows what else. Probably a cosplay I can wear my glasses with.

There are 10 pictures labeled Tudor _ and you can download the full sized versions on the right side of the screen (they are VERY large). Order is: 1, 2, 3, 6 (ruffs etc), 7, 4 (women's doublet), 8, 5, 10, 9 (men's doublet).
Let me know if you need to me to scan anything else, or feel free to send/post a pic of what you're doing so I can look for more appropriate things in the book!

Ooooh pretty ruffle things~ ^^

I was bored earlier today, so I did a mock jacket for a cosplay in a matter of an hour. I see the adjustments needed >> And I need to figure out the seam thing... I sewed the arms on correctly - so the attaching seam is hidden, but the "close" the sleeve seam is out @.@

Right now I'm waiting for PayPal to do its thing with my bank account that my tax return will be going to.  It "should" be tomorrow.  Once that happens, I'll finally pick with Lina cosplay to purchase, as well as the wig.  (Hopefully I'll get this stuff in time for Sakuracon, too!).

Oh man... my first bit of cosplay progress in AGES.

Ordered my white blazer for my 'Lady Gideon' cosplay, I was really having trouble finding something that worked and was a decent price, but I think I finally figured it out! Found this on Etsy for $17 after shipping as opposed to the $50 I kept finding for similar jackets everywhere else.

It's a little big, but I'm planning on just altering it to my size, I'm really hoping this jacket works out because It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for.... Pic below is for reference. =]

Finished the main part of Luki's coat, and 3/4ths of the way done sewing the fur on the bottom before I put it on and realized it was too long. Now I need to take off the fur, cut it shorter, and resew it on, which involves hand sewing. At least it's not too short haha.

The holes in my Umbreon skirt ended up being too big so now I need to make a new skirt. I think I'm going to make the circles first this time. I was just too eager when I first made the skirt and that's always when mistakes are made.

I might also be starting on a Maid Yoko soon.

Got some work done on my released Haineko for Matsumoto. Now that I think about it, I need to make a 10th Division badge too... Also order my wig. And find a push-up cleavage bra that gives me at least another two cup sizes. I'm Orihime-sized, but Matsumoto is at least a G.

ffffffffs, never though there would be a day that I would need bigger boobs.

Tomorrow I'll see about making the Vice-Captain badge and Saturday I'll make a run to Walmart and get the stuff for her necklace and bias tape to stand in for Tsuka-ito on Haineko.

Also, oh my god my hakama look like hell I have no idea what I did to them but they need ironing so frigging badly D:

This will be my third year at the Kcon and it will be my first time in a real cosplay.  I can't believe I want to go as Vash the Stampede.  A short, fat girl cosplaying a tall, skinny guy.  O man what have I got myself into.
Ordering my long red coat in June and carving the .45 colt angel arm revolver out of insulating foam.  Getting my Vash Sunglasses and black cat off of amazon and ebay this month.  My little sister will cosplay Wolfwood one day as well and Im making the Cross Punisher for her.  I should go as Wolfwood at least one day so I can show off my cross punisher.
I'm also making Way of the Dawn for my sister who will cosplay riku.

gonna be a busy spring.  want these done asap.

Busy with school work this week. All I got was the fabric for the jacket and cut it.
Made a wrong trace though so there's a wrong cut in the back now >> I'll have to either attempt to mend it or get another 2yds of fabric later.

It looks even better with paint, but I have no pictures and it's only a base coat. Can't wait to paint Haineko and put the grip on it, either. I'm almost done with Matsumoto :O

S'pose that's the good thing about Bleach cosplays though. Once you've made one shihakusho you just need accessories and the occasional new haori and you're done with another costume.

Yeah, I bet.

Made the fluffy arm things for Tsubaki, and I'm almost done with her top and the first belt.

This... is the weirdest wig I've ever gotten. It's really small and the buns have funky hooks that clip on to stubbed ponytails.

It's depressing that all of my Kumoricon cosplay are almost done while I've barely started on Sakuracon stuff!

Seems that I'm working on my little sisters props more then mine.  I'm making Way to the Dawn from Kingdom Hearts 2.  Still have lots of sanding and shaping to do.  I think that next week I should be ready to put on the mod podge (paper mache).  Got to love insulating foam but you can't paint it directly or it will melt.  I bought a dremel and I have to tell you that it is a life saver.  I guess that these pics are not the most recent.  I worked on this nemesis more after i took the pictures.....sorry ;)

Matsumoto's badge is finished! Just have to finish Haineko now, get my wig in and find a decent bra. Oh, and make her necklace. Can't forget the necklace.

EDIT:

Haineko is almost done :D just have to tie off the tsuka-ito and it's finished. No blade, obviously, because it's released and therefore turned to ash. I'm totally not using that as an excuse to not make an entire sword. Really.

Wish I was working on my cross punisher and .45 colt angel arms factory revolvers from trigun.  I have the revolvers drawn out on the foam board but that darn way of the dawn takes all my time these days.   :'(
