Yeah, so, this isn't really much progress, but...

I stuck the crossguard on the left blade and took some pictures. it's not attatched properly (I'm going to paint them first) but yeah.

Just make sure you attach the guards on opposite sides

Um, ebay?  There's also a wig place near the Lloyd Center Mall.  I think it's called Wig World, or Wig Land, or something like that.  They also do a 10% discount for cosplayers.  You know where the MAX line runs, just a block south of the mall?  Well, this place is North of the mall and a little bit West.  (If I remember right, there's a Safeway acrossed the street).

Waiting to see if I'm going to win the purple sweater dress I found on E-Bay for my Butterfree cosplay. Not 100% sure if it will look right or not, but it's only $10 after shipping so it's worth a shot.

Got outbid while I was at work... I'm super bummed.

Found some sweet purple wedge shoes on sale the other day too. =]

Now I just have to wait until I order my gloves/tights so that I can match my goggles to the color of teal. I think this is the earliest I've ever made progress on a cosplay. XD

So for my Makomo cosplay I decided to make a skirt, even though I could have used any skirt I wanted at a store because no one was going to see the damn thing.

So here is my skirt. I just need to add the zipper, add the other half of the top yoke, hem it, and add these cute little buttons I go for the flaps.

I was going to start work on my secret cosplay...
I started to make the top which is like a bikini top. Then I realized that my boobs are too big to be supported by just cloth. [/depression] I have to go buy a bikini top and make the alterations for the actual top from there so I don't fall out or something in the middle of con.

I'm surprised (yet not) about how popular this thread is already. I'm working on mine too. I thought that just one costume was going to be enough for me, but I wished I could be a different char every day this year. So I've got an Air Gear costume and a DNAngel costume in the works. As well as a Gakuen Heaven one (if any of you have ever watched that show).

I'm gonna buy a pattern for my vest for the con next year. I found, like, the most accurate vest pattern I could have possibly hoped for. I had to alter my cloak's hood for this year, so I was expecting to have to do something like that again, but the pattern is perfect. Just wait for a sale, and get started. 
The coat I'm a little worried about, because I just know it's gonna be hard. But I'll give it a try, and that may or may not count for something . . . .

I'm going to buy my viking outfit and wear it for Halloween, then all I will need for that cosplay is a helmet, hammer/sword (still deciding), and the wig.

As for my other cosplay I probably won't get around to it until early next summer.

Wigs are so much fun. Next year, I'm gonna have to wear a short blonde wig, and a longer blonde wig in twintails with princess curls. I have really dark hair. Like, Mediterranean hair. And I'm gonna dye it black tomorrow if my theater director gives the ok.
The bonus of dying my hair black, though, is that if I like it, then I don't need a wig for my third cosplay for next year.

I've just ordered green velvet and silver brocade. In my hands sits a pattern the size of a small paperback novel- for a frock coat and waistcoat. I'mma rock this so hard the 90's will feel it.

Also, knitting is apparently not the worst thing in the world. I'm getting quite good at it. My stitches have stopped looking like some sort of large slobbering beastie chewed on them. I've got maybe a foot and a half of scarf hanging from my needles now and it's getting a little unwieldy, but I can manage. Don't wanna think about what it'll be like once I have most of it done.

I just bought four yards of pink fleece today for Slowpoke.

They were having a sale, so I bought those four yards and then also a yard of green fleece for Man of the Public's Slowking hat, plus elastic. All for $23!

I finished my skirt a couple days ago. Don't know if I ever posted that...

I just cut out (most of) my material for my new subspace bags~ I'm going to be making two of them (one green with a red star, one blue and pink like I made before) and hopefully I'll correct all of the little problems I had with my previous one.

Tomorrow Dubaby is coming over for the day and I'm going to be teaching her how to use a pattern and sew. Yeah sewing partay~

My velvet is a little more black than green, but it's so pretty and I love it so much and I can't wait to make my coat out of it so I'm totally cutting out pattern pieces right now and I'll probably cut fabric tomorrow.

I seriously need to find a good lining fabric for this coat that doesn't look totally derp. Screw trying to match colors as screen-accurately as possible, it was FOX in the 90's. He's black and purple in one reference and brown and gray in another and three shades of green in a third and at one point he's ALL THREE because of stupid LOL90'S lighting.

If anyone has any idea what I'm doing please feel free to shout out. I will not deny, as I'm trying to have it done for Aki-con and if I can't go to that then for MEWcon.

Richie: when looking for the lining, bring along a sample of the velvet and use whatever colour of lining looks best in comparison to the fabric. Having colours that look good together is more important than having perfectly matched colours... especially when you factor in the weird lighting.
