*sigh* I really need to stop relying on the internet for cosplay needs...

On the bright side, my item has been shipped out.  The dark side, there's no clear indication as to when I'll be getting my item.  This makes me a sad panda.  I still believe that I'll be getting it before the wedding, but I'm starting to think that I SHOULD be getting it on he following Monday.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

For those of you dyeing things- perhaps this would be of assistance?

Thank you! I saw on there that my "dark green" box of RIT dye had turned my fabric a "seafoam green" color >> *shaking fist at label*

EDIT
I also finally found a lost check from Roxas jacket when mom washed it. note to self: don't put roxas jacket in dryer for more then 2 minutes when the checks are just glued on.... So found the check and glued it back on ^^ no harm done to the jacket! I'm just glad we took it out of the dryer soon enough before they all came off!

Still not too sure how I'm going to get those three chopsticks onto my wig, but I'll figure something out. In the meantime, though, my wig is pretty boss.

I got it from a Taobao wig shop called Lucaille. I had to take apart the clip-on ponytail, wrap it around the foam ponytail core, wrap the purple and white fabric around it and then attach the whole thing to the wig :3

The bangs still need styling, but I can do that once I put it on to wear it with the costume.

So it is possible to take apart those clip-on pony tails.. I was afraid it wasn't possible! ><

Oh yeah, its super easy. Its slightly more difficult to re-attatch them, but it can be done. I tested it out on my Miku wig because I will need to combine 2 ponytails for another cosplay.

@Richie- That does actually, thank you.

The UO bookstore sells a dye called i-Dye that is specifically for polyester fibers that I'm thinking about using for some of the lace I'm dying. Has anyone tried it before? Since we're on the topic. lol.

It works pretty well from what I've used of it. It just smells horrendous, hahaha. Last night I stuck a white Rayon/Polyester blend sweater in a vat of blue for seriously less then a minute and it dyed it a light blue. It comes out pretty evenly, my sweater just didn't because I couldn't let it sit in the vat for long at all so I had to immediately take it out and rinse it instead of letting the color saturate everything which caused some streaking.
That's great to hear. I'll probably use that for my poly lace and then RIT for my rayon lace (since rayon is technically a natural fiber). Woo for adventures in dying! I wonder how well poly fabric dyes work on wigs...?

Regular fabric dye works on wigs. Those two I posted in my post of what I did last night were dyed with RIT dye.

@Boogie, May I ask what temp of water you used to dye those wigs with RIT dye?
I've been looking for the best way to use it, but I keep finding other stuff. :o

Well, from what I've heard from other people it's best to use heat resistant wigs so they don't melt or anything. Both of those wigs are Arda Wigs and they take the dye REALLY well, not to mention they are really good quality. I put the water on high heat until it was boiling and then I took it off and let it set for 5 minutes. Then, just stir the wig around in it for a few minutes and it's good. It is seriously going to change the way I dye wigs now, it's so simple and a lot cheaper then Sharpie or FW ink. I think I will only use FW ink for really light, but bright colored wigs now.

The only downside is if you screw up, I know of no way to strip the color out.

Good to know because I got some hair falls that are literally only a shade too light for the wig I wanted to match. I'll prolly just try that then.
Line up:
-Kageyama (Haikyuu)
-Cordelia (Fire Emblem Awakening)
-Marauder Ashe (League of Legends)
-??? Who knows what else. Probably a cosplay I can wear my glasses with.

Totally late to the convo but I was planning on using iDye since they have special poly dye.
And using hot tap water is way better to me than using boiling water since I'm a wuss about heat ;^; Also my jacket is already dark gray, pretty much anything I put on it will turn it black.

You could try RIT Color Remover on the wigs to strip the RIT dye off. Since the fibers of the wig are colored plastic, not plastic that's been colored topically, it should only strip the dye off.

Does any one know if there's a way to take spots of out dye jobs? I dyed my Kumatora fabric the other day and I just gave it a look see and there's two noticeable spots of darker color on the front (the one piece that super matters guhhh)  and one spot of noticable color on one side of the hood. I'd rather not have to strip out the color out of all 8 pieces and redye it for it to possibly have the same problems if there's a way to decrease how noticable those spots are.

You could try a gentle hand-washing on the spots to see if that'll make them fade a bit. If not, you might have to strip them and try again. I've spot-scrubbed color out of things before though, so you might want to try that first.

Stain remover might work... I'm not sure about that oO;
Spots and streaks usually come up for me if I don't let the dye powder dissolve completely before putting in the fabric. And then stirring. I usually stir it every 5 or so minutes to make sure the dye goes everywhere. Just letting it sit, in my experience, results in spots and streaks ><

Thanks for the advice guys! I will remember that for future problems. I actually ended up searching online and someone suggested using water and vinegar to get them out. I just had a spare toothbrush, got it wet with my water vinegar solution and scrubbed away. I then put them in the washer and the stains are gone. I'm super pleased.

In other news I just finished a wig commission and the guy picked it up and loved it! I unfortuently forgot to get any pictures of it finished (I had to style the bangs with it on his head) but here is it almost finished. I dyed the wig and did the spiking. It's for Natsu from Fairy Tale.

The bottom picture is more true to what color it actually is.

PHEW. I am not nearly freaked out now as I was a few hours ago. I figured out how to make my LSP purple body paint not look like crap, found a better white button up than I had before that I don't have to hem for Ritsu, found some boots for Mimiru that are nearly perfect, and I drafted out a pattern for her sword.

I have to buy a bunch of supplies this weekend and then WORK TILL I DIE.

from Hollywood contacts, they are affordable, and excellent quality with fast shipping. I just realized that I bought them to far away from the date that I needed them.
XD they only last 30 days, and I've had them for about 45.

The amount of days a contact lens lasts isn't from when you open the casing it comes in. It's how many days you wear it.

I wish I could just sit down..and get things done...
Sakuracon is only 22 days away...

Here's some progress XD picture later :D
Saturday -> Finished Len Love is war, Finished Lily Love is war skirt, got Gakupo fabric. DECIDED I WAS GONNA COSPLAY ALOIS? LOLWHUT?
Sunday -> Get all of Alois fabric 70% off!!! Finish Alois, Minus boots. (Total time to finish Alois = 8 hours straight)

And Here's where I'm getting my contacts from. They're pretty cheap but they seem popular and reliable.
I just made it in time for their 18 hour sale XD I got Super Jewel Blue for only $16. :D

www.coslenses.deviantart.com

These I.Fairy lenses are the best I've seen so far. Shh..this was a great find XD
I don't see many places selling I.Fairys for such a good price.
From my geo knowledges they last a year, and everytime you wear them that counts as a day out of 365.
Not you keep them for 365 days then throw them out.
These lenses are thicker and larger then regular contacts and they aren't made of astigmatism to keep in mind.

How so? As long as you keep them in clean saline solution they last just fine. It's how long you wear them, not how long you let them sit around in a contact lens case.
