So I think I've pretty much got my kcon plan down, and then I have 1 or 2 other costumes that I want to do just because. Here's my plan:

Stocking (Casino Dress?)
-Try to make/find refs
-Do everything
-Make wig
My plan for the wig (since her hair is in this weird beehive-bun-thing) is to cut up my current navy wig and buy a used pink wig to cut up as well, and then buy a replacement navy wig for normal outfits.

Lambdadelta
-Do everything
This is for the costume contest, augh.

Charlotte (gijinka)
-Find good inspiration pic
-Figure out what to buy and make
I think this won't be too hard, and it should be cute and comfy. I also already know what wig(s) I'm buying, I just gotta purchase them.

Mugi (LISTEN!! ver)
-Make white skirt
-Buy captain hat
-Buy white heels
-Buy/make jacket thing?
I already have the wig and the shirt and everything else is fairly simple.

And then another costume I'm making way in advance is Raven from Teen Titans with my friends Sahara and Shannon and Starfire and Terra. We're going to make them during the summer so we can get pics together, and then we'll be wearing them for Sakuracon or something.
-OATZ AND SQUATZ
-Buy zentai suit
-Buy body paint
-Modify shoes
-Figure out dat wig oh god
Current Kcon Plans:
-Ringo Oginome
-Anarchy Stocking
-Roxy Richter

Mailanoo is really good also make sure if you do cotume size give alittle extra space for yourself sometimes they make things alittle smaller then they should. kay

Chan_Highwind agrees with that logic, even though she's never had that problem before herself.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba

Hey Shay, Shannon told me a while ago that there's a good zentai suit place on eBay that she's bought from. I'll get the link for you.

FINALLY heard back from my commissioner today, which has definitely put my mind at ease. Now I just need to take photos of the problem areas in the jacket and pants, take some new measurements, and then ship out the pieces to be altered. Everything should be done by the end of June. So Hit-Girl for Kumoricon is still a go! Very excited.

Got my pants for Taras/Gavrill, and while they fit great, I definitely will not be able to pass for a guy in them. Not unless guys have bedonkadonk butts.

They will, however, be great for Gavrill.

So it seems that I will most likely be skipping out on K-con this year. Got a lot of other things going on. But I will be going to S-con.

Though I might stop by for a day to assist my friend Josh with his Crossplay.

But otherwise I need to do some touch-up's on Tao, grow out my hair for Helga, and get everything together for Cure Passion. Honestly things are going well for the most part cosplay wise. Got it all figured out and what not.

A bit ago people were dying wigs with RIT dye and I can't find tutorials for that x.x So I'm wondering how it's done...? If it's done like fabric and how you keep the dye from washing out so it sets properly... And if you can do it with the brand "Dylon" maybe?

It won't dye it too much with RIT because RIT is for natural fibers and wigs are synthetic, also you need to take into consideration how heat resistant your wig is because you usually boil RIT with fabric, but this will melt a wig.
I think someone said that they take the boiling water+RIT off the heat for about 5 min, then only put the wig in for a short time (based on swatch test!). Always do a swatch test first if you have enough fibers in the wig to cut some off.
Line up:
-Kageyama (Haikyuu)
-Cordelia (Fire Emblem Awakening)
-Marauder Ashe (League of Legends)
-??? Who knows what else. Probably a cosplay I can wear my glasses with.

Yo, so far I have dyed two wigs with RIT, it's awesome and easy. Just keep in mind:
* Make sure to turn off the heat before you put your wig in
* If you want a lighter color don't let it sit for too long. When I did my Scanty wig I pretty much took it out right after it turned green
* Clean everything right after so there's no stains
* Common sense things

Ah I don't boil my RIT water XD I have hot tap water and I sit the fabric in a plastic tub when I dye stuff. But i'm curious to know how long I should let it sit and if I rinse it in cold or hot? Normally I rinse fabric in cold.

Completely depends on how light you want the wig to be. Just to be safe if I'm going for a weird mediumish color I'll put it in, stir it around, pull it out and rinse it in cold water and see how it looks. If it's too light then I just repeat those steps!

Just added Mitochondria Eve to my list. I'll probably take off regular England and Monica to make room for her, and if I get this cosplay done how I like, then it's definitely going in the contest. Drywall stilts, animatronic arms, etc. @.@

She's in the sketch and planning stage right now, and I'm getting help from the university theatre department on her.

I have to style it first bbies.

No cosplay progress from me in too long, I got fleece for my Magikarp kigurumi a while ago but only about half the amount of what I need because I was po', and I ordered my Starfire wig but that's not really anything exciting.

SO MUCH FANIME PROGRESS OH MY GOD toomuchtotakepicturesof

Taras' jacket needs one more piece of raised bias and to fold/finish all of the rest of it, and then it needs sleeves, strandy things in the front and the badge and it's done. Which is nice. It looks kinda derp though.

Gavrill's wig is almost to me, as are her fangs, boots and contact lenses. Need to find a coat, make her headset and finish her arm/leg bracers and she's done. All the parts are cut out for her arm bracers, and one of her leg bracers is partially painted and in need of assembly.

My Keiji wig now has feathers and it is beautiful. Gonna take it to Fanime too so I can hang out with SenBasa bros from the internet.

That's a good idea! I'll try to see how the Dylon dye goes and see if it even sets in the fibers. If it doesn't, I'll have that to report before I get to the RIT :D

I know it's for cosplay, but seeing a Nazi iron cross does not make me uncomfortable. Sorry, Jacob. I don't think I can give you the reaction you're going for. Dressing up as a Nazi even if it's Hetalia's Germany is something I couldn't do on a moral level. That said, I'm not judging you, and you'll probably look quality. I'm sorry if I'm coming across as an ass again.

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I didn't know that type of cross was specifically linked to Nazis. In fact, I just looked it up a bit, and it's linked to Germany and has been for a very long time, since WAY before Hitler or the Nazi party, and Nazi-specific iron crosses have the swastika in the middle. Plus the oak leaf in the middle was made to replace the swastika after WWII since Germany didn't want to be associated with the Nazis.

And mind you, I'm half Polish with that entire half being Jews who were in concentration camps during the Holocaust, so I'm not a big fan of Nazis or anything, and I don't find that offensive in the least.

ANYWAY, Taras' jacket just needs sleeves and fiddly accouterments. I'm torn between thinking it looks good and thinking it looks really derp.

Keep wanting to say derp, but then I look at dat collar and can't decide.

I do understand where you are coming from but this is actually a WW1 medal of honor, it was also awarded to prussian's as well as germans.

I'm not current enough on history to know whether the Iron Cross was used in WW1, but a medal dated 1939 isn't a WW1 medal.

1939 was WW2 (the one with the Nazis in it), not WW1.

I'm 99.5% certain that no cosplayer would wear Nazi paraphernalia with the intent of showing high regard to the Nazis. But I often worry that it's just a matter of time until a Hetalia cosplayer who's unknowingly wearing it (or who gets mistaken for such because their cos is so similar) gets in a nasty fight, legal trouble, and/or gains infamy in the corporate mass media with the headline "Anime fans think Nazi Germany was 'cute and misunderstood'".

Yo Jacob I'm backing you up, just sayin'.

But although the medal is dated 1939, Jacob was smart and got one with the leaf rather than the Nazi symbol that a real medal from that time would have, am I correct? If I saw a random Hetalia cosplayer wearing that I wouldn't be offended or even think about it twice.

If I saw a Hetalia cosplayer with a swastika I would slap the ho.

fleur - I have no doubt that anyone who actually knows what they're talking about (like you, who's familiar with Hetalia, or a historian who could no doubt point out several inaccuracies that make the medal an obvious fake) wouldn't be offended by virtue of thinking it was intended to glorify the Nazis.

But Average Joe on the street, or a news reporter, isn't going to know what they're talking about. They're going to see "someone dressed up as a Nazi with one of them there medals that looks Nazi and it's dated 1939" and think they've found the Nazi equivalent of Civil War re-enactors.

Again, I'm 99.5% sure no cosplayer would ever have the intent of glorifying the Nazis. That doesn't worry me at all. What worries me is that someone is going to eventually be mistaken as such, possibly even someone who innocently managed to get ahold of real Nazi paraphernalia and is proudly wearing it without knowing, and get themselves and/or the community some nasty publicity or worse.

Jacob - if the medal is actually from 1813, which is somewhat hard to believe given its condition, it's still not a WW1 medal. What it looks like to me is a somewhat inaccurate replica, but I'm hardly an expert historian. I just know that WW1 wasn't in 1939 or 1813.

No it didn't come from 1813 that is when the medal was established.

Nobody has saluted or shouted 'Seig heil' yet, so let's all just assume there are no Nazis here, hmmmkay?

Hitler was a bad dude, yes. But he's dead now and the people that continue to follow his example are a constant thorn in the side of civil rights. But you know what? People have the right to wear what they want and pin on whatever medals they choose, just like they have the right to walk around two stitches and a hankie away from naked or practice their religion or draw stupid caricatures of the President.

Is it worth debating?

Honestly this is a bit like catty lolitas sniping at a girl behind her back because they don't think she should wear the dress she's wearing.

Point taken. In a word, no. If someone genuinely cares, Google image can show them what the real article would look like.

And for the third time, I'd agree - I don't think intent or lack thereof to glorify the Nazis was ever the issue.
This is my serious voice. Otherwise, I'm just another anime fan, not a moderator.

Just got my skirt for my Twilight Sparkle Gijinka that I'll be wearing to Akicon.... It definently poofs out (and is larger) than the seller initially advertised, but since I have so much time until I have to wear it I think I can make it work.

The poofiness is what bothers me more than anything.... I've got "dem hips" so I really don't need that added volume at all. =/

Time for me to actually start planning what I want to do in terms of a shirt and such...

No, I suppose you don't...

Well, I've submitted some pics to "my tailor" for the Sailor Neptune costume.  It looks like it will be more to the effect of Super Sailor Neptune, just because of the shoulder area.  I also need to purchase a bathing suit for the "Miss" Kumoricon pageant I'm in.  I've got some ideas, but I'll have to wait & see what's out there.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh
