Ok guys, some misunderstandings here.
First off, the difference in bandwidth will be negligible. The front page is already nearly 1/3 of a MB. Repeated page views will be cached. Also, the issue with the server we have been having is
not bandwidth, it is memory usage, which is completely different, and is probably being caused (or was being caused, if it has been reduced) by some errant code somewhere or issues causing the server to block in the middle of some page requests. Simply adding some images isn't going to matter.
Secondly, yes, I already do have web staff who contribute code. It is not just me. They have access to our source code (but not live data) and use a developer site for dev/test so access to the live operational site isn't an issue.
However... yes, more staff are welcome, or even volunteers, if you'd just like to contribute one thing. For example, the countdown timer at the bottom of the forums was a forum mod made by a staffer (in a different position) but doing an extra volunteer item for web.
We could have an additional forum theme for this. However, thus far, it has not been a priority to create one. However, if somebody would like to volunteer to specifically do this, then it will happen.
