You need two grunts and a third flunkie to be Cassandra's attendants and her enthusiastic little helper dude. The walking doodle?

Then you could occasionally break off a conversation and order them to moisturize you.

So I have this friend who is adorable and quiet and sciency and has curly brown hair and likes purple (see where I'm going with this yet?) and she was talking to me the other day about wanting to cosplay a Doctor Who character at next K-Con (she was a Team Rocket grunt last year).

So.

I need to convince her to be Nyssa. NEED TO. She'd be the best Nyssa ever! She's like, exactly Sarah Sutton's height and everything! It's crazy.

I would probably end up making the costume though. So. WOO.

/derailed the conversation, I did I did

IN OTHER NEWS I love Eleven so much oh my god I hadn't really finished watching S5 because I'm terrible, but I watched Vincent and the Doctor yesterday and I CRIED SO MUCH sweetest Doctor ever omg he's quickly become one of my favorites. He's like, the sweetness of Nine and Five and the sillyness of Two and Four and the wonderfuladorablesemisadness of Nine and the spazzy wizeness of Ten and oh my god he's perfect he's so perfect and he's SO ADD and I love him so much and Amy has grown on me a lot.

Also that actor looked a scary lot like Vincent Van Gogh. Just sayin.

Enthusiastic helper dude, Chip, would be fun to get body painted as anyway. I do have some doctor scrubs and even a doctor lab coat or two somewhere though they tend to be the actual hospital olive drab and not white per the show. Definitely will have a spray bottle or two handy.

I think it would be funny to also be accompanied by one of the Adherents of the Recurring Meme. And have one of those mechanical spidery things on remote control.

So this guy who comes to Anime Friday at Wuntvor's (who apparently used to be a panelist at Orycon) said last night that next Fri he will bring me his fold-up clothes rack on wheels for me to see if I can work with it for Ory OMGYAY

So far all I have is: -The shirt (Unfinished)

And I think that's really it.  xD

Also, should I get a sonic screwdriver? :0
I thought of a picture idea of like, all the doctors hands on the sonic screwdriver, or one of us fighting over it. -w-

You lot have it easy with the crazy pants and the bowties and the like. I have to make a turn-of-the-century frock coat out of velvet. You can all find your costume pieces! It's either make mine or pay someone to make it for me D:

8's worth it though. So it all kinda levels out in the end!

Okay okay.
Richie, you chose probably the hardest Doctor outfit, well, ever.
But since it will turn out absolutely beautiful it doesn't even matter.

I had an idea, guys!
We should have a Doctor Who photoshoot! I mean, like, outside of con!
Maybe meet at someone's house afterwards and watch some episodes?
As much as I'd like to suggest my place, no one but my parents, Analee, Robert, and I live here, and there is no train to get here with.
If you'd like to have us come to your city, we can arrange it xD

Katie, you are staying at my house fo' sho' this is already a thing.

Also, if Robert (or Nick) are involved, Morgan has a guest room that I'm more than sure she'd be happy to pimp out, because she pretty much is love with them.

And my house would be a sweet place to pal about and watch episodes after said proposed photoshoot! And there are so many cool places here!

I'm in Eugene and have a car if such would be facilitative (e.g., getting folks from bus or train stations to a shoot or viewing).

At Orycon, we folks from Creation Station are having a workshop on making "sonic screwdrivers". I will try to see if I can keep a few.....

Lady Cassandra, the last human, cosplay update & seeking your advice, please!
I have been loaned a wheeling coat rack from Dan from Anime Friday at Wuntvor's. Going to experiment with it for Orycon if I can get the rest of the pieces by then, otherwise MEW.
(1) It is 4 feet wide. So I got 4.5 feet of 45 inch, peachy-copper, organza. It looks kinda sorta "flesh tone"y and it is about half-see-through. I could also scouted St. Vincent de Paul Seneca last night, they have in their curtains etc. some materials that are more pink and more cotton/linen if folks think that would be preferable.
(2)Anyone have ideas where to get metal clips large enough to fit the poles of the coat rack to be able to hold the organza in place?
(3)Anyone have opinions about the visible arteries? Am I better off with just drawing them with red sharpies or other markers? Or Finding some kind of ...I dunno...Halloween prop fake blood stuff to make thin lines with that are more 3-D to maybe be more visible?
(4)Anyone have ideas how to do the eyes & lips? I was considering looking at craft stores for "googlie eyes" and Halloween candy/prop aisles for wax lips? Or should I paint/draw them on? Or should I just have slits & put my own face through??
(5)I have found various of my hand-me-downs from my dad's former hospital days of scrubs in various covers (actually wore a green scrub for Frank introducing Rocky in the lab at Rocky Horror last night). So I have 2 matching small (just past waist) white lab coat type jackets. These could either be worn by people carrying spray bottles/squirt gun type things or I was thinking I would wear one if I put eyes & lips on Cassandra without having to use my own face. Still don't have white scrub pants but could look for them used somewhere. Face mask/gloves I could try hardware store.
(6)I have to figure out whether to adapt a spray bottle or a squirt gun. I am thinking spray bottle because of peacebonding rules albeit that squirt gun would look closer to canon. Gardening season being largely over, not sure where I'll find one.
(7)I have no idea what to do for the thing that sits at the bottom of her wheeling cart, that I guess is supposed to be where her vital fluids circulate through, that looks like a big metal canister/pump that is linked to the rest of the contraption. Ideas?
I think in one image it looked like it held blue fluid and perhaps her brain? The closest thing I've seen is a lava lamp....

That was a crazy layout for a post and made my brain hurt D:

If you're looking for a 3D look, then I'd go for puff paints. They're pretty easy to find at a craft store.
For the drawing of the face, I would honestly think it would be more cool if you put your face through it :3
The first place I would check for metal clips would be Wal Mart, because if you do find them then they'll be pretty cheap. I'd think they'd have them in a fabric store or a craft store as well... (Unless I don't understand what you mean, in which case my response is completely useless D:)
I love it! They should have water bottles. I would laugh so hard with contentment every time I saw you <3
Look in a hair section for a spray bottle. Many people spray water on their hair while styling it and thus need them :3
I would laugh so hard if you used a lava lamp. With joy at your creativity, of course, not like "HAHA she used a lava lamp" :P

SAM: God you're cool.
And I saw that post... for the wig... ilu

Ooh, sorry about that...I should be more thoughtful in forum post layout for all my co-astigmatics....I will go back & edit for layout.

I do not know what those are, but thanks for the tip!

I will experiment with how easy it is to make slits in the fabric. I have to have the clips in place first, though, to know where to put the slits for eyes & lips! (Having it hanging as a "dress rehearsal" & seeing at what height I'd put my face, etc.)

I am sure you are following; I need some way to adhere the fabric to the frame. I don't own the frame, so I can't use like Super Glue or Gorilla Tape.

I would laugh so hard if you used a lava lamp. With joy at your creativity, of course, not like "HAHA she used a lava lamp" :P
The only place I've ever seen them for sale is "head shops" (& it's been years since I've been in one). But if I can find one, & find a way to adhere it, I sure will. It would almost be like an homage to the shows origins in the 60s...How cool is this, Doctor Who & Lava Lamps both debuted in 1963! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lava_lamp
That settles it, I'm looking for one!

I have now obtained the following towards Cassandra:
(1) Squirt bottles. One regular/see-through, in case I'm required by a con for security to be able to see it's empty. One grey/black, because it looks closer to the canon. It would be more canon to have something that looks like a squirt gun, but that might have to be peacebonded.
(2) Zip ties and clamp-resembling pieces of metal. Rather than actually physically screw the clamps onto the poles (which are not mine, thus I can't drill holes), I got these random pieces of metal that look like clamps and zip ties to hold them into place. The hardware store guy suggested I put the zip ties through the fabric and through the holes in the metal to stretch the fabric to look as though it is clamped on.
(3) A white cloth face mask with green goggles. This of course is for the "Moisturize me!" minion from Series 1, "The End of the World". As for the little white head covering, I might be able to turn inside out my white steering-wheel warmer.
My dad is going to see if he can get from his former hospital an unused authentic white lab coat for me.
How are everyone else's coming along?

I'm glaring very hard at a pile of cut velvet, satin and tailoring interfacing. Hopefully my insofar-imperfect Oncoming Storm glare is enough to make them assemble themselves into something resembling my frock coat. Unfortunately that's probably not the case, and I'll have to either perfect the glare or sew the coat myself.

Decisions...

I vote for "perfect the glare" as it will save time in the future.

I'm going to agree with Sora. Perfecting the glare seems more useful in the long run.

I FOUND A COAT FOR TWO.
My friend Evan is going to send me the site where he gets all of his bow ties :D
Next order of business: PANTS.

Still trying to figure out whether to do anything to the organza for eyes (I have googlie eyes, but...) and lips (haven't found wax lips yet) for Cassandra. Or, I can stick my own face through it.... Meantime last night I watched my 1st ep of Torchwood. Since I've already cosplayed Gwyneth I could see being Gwen sometime. I used to have police cosplay from political guerilla theater....I can look around.

We need a TARDIS for Sakuracon. If I drive I'll have space in the back of the SUV to bring it in pieces, but I hate driving that thing D:

And I'll make sure to perfect the glare. Don't you lot worry about that. Now if only I had a companion. At this rate I'll end up hanging out and smoking hookah with the Steampunkers for all the recognition I'd get as Eight.

Progressing through Torchwood series 1. Best: Greeks Bearing Gifts.
Worst: Countrycide (ugh).
Creepiest smile: That on little Jasmine in Small Worlds when others are being hurt around her.

I'm now very into seeing anyone's Torchwood cosplays.
Carys from Day One could be fun for someone.
Huge props to anyone who could pull off Lisa from Cyberwoman.
