[Gryffinclaw Princess]

I must regrettably close this panel for 2011.
I have asked for this Panel to be pulled and I have received conformation for my request.
I apologize for getting anyone's hopes up or anything but things just are not working.
I will be working over the course of the year on a way to better this panel so it will work next year.
There will be changes and things worked out so look forward to next year if you are still interested.


This is the KumoriCon version of Puttin on the Ritz.
For those of you who don't know, Puttin on the Ritz is a drag show beauty pageant.
So, this would be done as a crossplay pageant! (Men crossplaying as women.)

Categories:
Back Stage Interview Contestants will be interviewed before the show by the judges.
On-Stage Interview Two on-stage questions will be asked. One from the interview earlier, one from a fishbowl.
Talent Contestants will preform something they are 'good' at.
Swimwear Contestants will show their health/fitness and self confidence.
Formal Contestants will wear a fancy attire to show their beauty.

FYI: When we announce the winners you may pick the outfit you are wearing! Best bet would be a default/their original outfit or your formal attire.

3 Extra Minutes!!



First: Rules of Event!
- Swimwear must follow BOTH male AND female dress code for con. (Nothing 'nasty' shows.)
- Do not pressure your competitors into your fads. (We all know Reppy shaves but you don't have to.)
- This will rated PG-13 so please keep things pleasant.
- You may have up to one onstage helper for your talent, they must be in all black, and they can not speak.

Second: What I need!
- I need listed contestants to confirm they are interested!
- Pictures of contestants outfits! (Interview, Talent, Swimwear & Formal)
- A script or video or your talent! (We can also do a Skype conference call if need be)
- Two more guest performers! (Suggest to me or have them post here.)
- Photographers! We need evidence of this amazing event!


Third: My Questions

Fourth: Answers
- Time limit for each event is unknown until we have our final number of contestants. (Current estimates are posted above.)
- I have requested a one hour slot.
- Backstage Interview will be done before the pageant starts.
- Between each event we will have guest performers so you have time to change.


Fifth: Guests
- The two slots left are: After Interview and After Formal/During Talley.
- Quick set ups only! They won't have a lot of time and they are only here as fillers for you guys.
- They will have up to three minutes (one song) to perform so you are not rushed.
- Final slot will have five minutes!
- I will be placing them where I believe they fit best.


Sixth: Donations!
- If anyone wishes to donate anything for prizes that is wonderful! (This includes art, collectibles, costumes, coupons to your shop, ANYTHING!)
- If not all donations are given out, they will be kept for later years.
- You can donate your assistance in making anything! (Sashes, Umbrellas, Gift Baskets)
- Monetary donations will go to paying for supplies (Sashes, Umbrellas, Baskets, et cetera)


Seventh: Winners/Prizes
- Miss Kumoricon will be given a Sash, Umbrella (designed to match that year), and something else.
- Runner Up will receive a Sash and something else.
- Miss Congeniality will receive a Sash and something else.
- The "something else" is being voted on currently. :3

The only danger I see in this is the crosplaying swimsuit issue....

Please remember that these lovely gentleman must still obey the conventions rules regarding coverage while they are cosplaying...

And since they will be lovely ladies, they must abide by the female rules for exposed/covered areas.

All outfits will be pre-approved by me and I will take pictures of them all in case any staff member has questions before the show starts.
Also, this will save my ass if the contestants decide to change anything after I approve the outfit and end up getting us in trouble.

Supposedly, they are not allowed to change anything after I approve it in person and anyone who does will become ineligible for the title. And I will have them sign a contract that keeps me out of trouble if they violate any con rules on their own doing.

The difference is kind of important; regardless of if they are crossplaying, a guy cannot wear less than what covers the entire groin area and buttocks and the clothing cannot be tight enough to reveal genetalia.

A guy in a female swim suit would not be adhering to these rules.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm being a stickler, there was a Swimsuit contest in 2009 I believe that had to be shut down due to a "banana hammock" sort of incident, and I certainly don't want your girls being shut down because they are showing to much groin area.

Crossplay gets tricky, you basically have to obey BOTH clothing rules.... but I know its possible to do it! I'm sure it is!

It is male to female and what I was saying was that along with their lower half having to be covered, they have to fully cover their 'boobs' as well to have the outfit be acceptable.
Trust me...I don't want to see any single bit of their groin area. How big they are should forever remain an unknown mystery to me. D:
But swimwear isn't always a two piece or school suit. Some girls wear shorts swimming or long shirts. There is also the more sporty side with body suits and the like.

If this portion does become too complicated for the contestants, it can easily be changed into Sports Wear or Summer Dress. ^^

Seems like fun. I second substituting something for swimsuit for the aforementioned reasons. My question: Will the individuals be answering as they, outside of character, would answer the questions? Or will they be in persona the entire time, answering as, for example, Chii would?

Having spent KC 2004 crossplaying Tuxedo Kamen, I'd also love to see the FTM crossplay parallel of this event.

Individuals will be answering as if they are their character. ^^ The point is that they are like Drag Queens. They are men pretending to be women. But in this case, they are pretending to be specific women.



Another thing I would like to have:
"Companies" of the forums supporting our contestants!
For example, we would have a Miss Spoon Castle, Miss Pocky Club, Miss Fun Size, et cetera!

The winner of the pageant will get a sash, crown, and (Hopefully I can find one) a case of ramune.
The winning support group will also get some type of recognition/prize. I just can't think of anything right now.



Swimwear
Take into account that this says swimwear, not swimsuit!
Contestants would not be required to be in a bikini or one piece!
They can wear wet suits, a bikini with a wrap, a long, baggy shirt, shorts with a bikini top/one piece. There are many choices that can be made for this!

If the contestants cannot find something to wear or do not feel comfortable then this category will be changed to Sports Wear or Summer Dress.

Ackbar is probably best known for his "It's a trap!" line in Return of the Jedi - if you click on his pic in the original post, there's a link to that scene.

In some quarters, "trap" is slang for a guy who very convincingly looks like a girl. This almost certainly came about from attributing Ackbar's "It's a trap!" line to someone who belatedly finds out that the girl they're attracted to isn't a girl.

There's ways around it.  One is a gaff, another requires a trick that I learned from a member of Portland's drag queen court.

I'm thinking about going as Lina Inverse for this, since that's the only female character that's currently on my list of maybes.

Yeah, I know.  In fact, I've been contemplating what to do for a talent...  I've been thinking about singing, but only if I take some sort of lessons, and if I can find an instrumental piece for a song that'd be good or funny for Lina to do.  A dance of some sort is another thing I've been thinking, mainly since I got lots of love for my Mikuru dance in '09.

I'm not sure where else to advertise the contest to let them know, but I've seen serious crossplayers at other conventions who I haven't yet seen at Kumoricon. Hopefully five will just be the minimum, and you'll end up with considerably more? (^_^)

I'm going to Aki next week but I doubt there will be that many crossplayers there. It seems like a pretty small con.

I do hope people who see this will tell their friends. I have a seen quite a few crossplayers but I also don't think a lot go on the forums.
