2011 Photoshoot Locations~ [updated 2/22/11]
« on: November 14, 2010, 02:15:48 am »
FIRST THINGS FIRST: This is NOT the 2011 Photoshoot thread; It's just a list of locations near the con next year so you can pick a place to hold your photoshoot (but dont post that here).

I've never been to the Vancouver Hilton or Red Lion so I wouldn't know where to hold a cosplay photoshoot by the con next year. Do any of you know some great areas for meetups or photo-taking? If so, please tell me! I'll post it on here so other people unfamiliar with the area can check it out too...!

Photoshoot Locations near the Vancouver Hilton::
- Esther Short Park
- Smaller park-like areas a few blocks East and/or West (less people)

Photoshoot Locations near the Red Lion::
- River-view spots

The biggest and most prominent location is actually Esther Short Park, directly across the street from the Hilton. It is a beautiful park with several different "types" of terrain (grass, trees, brick, etc) with a big clock tower and water feature, too. I went in 2007 and it made for some amazing photo shoot opportunities.

I very much agree with that. Having been to the park myself for the last time Kumoricon was there I can tell you the park is a great and safe place during the daylight hours for photoshoot.

There's a smaller park-like area a few blocks to the East, as well.  the only significant advantage to there over ESP is that less people go there.  There's also some possible good areas just to the West of Hilton (if I remember correctly).  I'm actually planning on going to downtown here pretty soon (most likely Monday), so I can take a look around.

^ NICE!!!

I'm hoping to see about getting at least one photo shoot done at Officer's Row.  It's a national site, so I think some people would love that.  There's also the Academy building that'd be great.

I still haven't gotten around to looking for sites for y'all yet, but those are some possibilities.

ironmonkey, totally digging the Cowboy Beebop.  I'm thinking of crossplaying Vash the Stampede.  you should look up Tainted Donuts on Youtube.
