How tall are you, Schemer? . o .

Also, seeing as how cheer work outs are 2-hours a day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they totally kick my butt, I've started to get more muscle and lose fat. * U *

JUST GOTTA LOSE DIS STOMACH FAT AND I AM A-OKAY FOR SUMMER.

I'm 5'4. I grew an inch recently. :P

The world is conspiring against me!  D:  Today, I decided to start making a log of all the food I eat.  My dad is having pizza tonight.  My brother bought a ton of Papa Murphy's pizza.  And my friend ate pizza earlier today.  WTF.  D:

<-- eating canned chicken, canned kidney beans, and canned black olives for dinner tonight.

Dude. Totally know how you feel. I do an awesome workout in the morning. Later that night my friend Misse wanted to go to Olive Garden. I couldn't help myself. They have amazing food. To top it off we got those Zeppole(italian donuts with powdered sugar) and I felt like I could die happy eating them. I like eating... ^^'

You try to stay away from the unhealthier foods and suddenly everyone around you is eating nothing but pizza and donuts and all that junk food.

And black olives are delicious and I eat them out of the can all the time. *w*

hehehehe.  Yes, they are soooo goood.  I bought some more yesterday, plus some manzanilla olives and pepperoncinis (for some reason, everyone in my family just loves eating them as a snack.)

I've been trying to cut back the amount of carbs I eat in the afternoon/evening.  I started following the diet from my workout plan a little more closely.  Figure I'm doing the workouts, maybe I should give the nutritional advice a shot too, huh? =)

I have a love/hate relationship with part of my workout.  There are "cardio" exercises that you do before the weightlifting / body weight exercises.  Each week, they get harder (more reps).

On one day I will do,

10 jumping jacks, 10 mountain climbers (5 reps each side).

and on another day,

10 split jacks, 5 squat thrusts.

Repeat each set a total of 5 times with no rest in between sets.  Do them as fast as possible.  (You'll probably need a few seconds to catch your breath, but your goal is not to rest.)

Techniques for performing the split jacks and squat thrusts are here.

If you want to give your butt a good kicking, give them a shot at the beginning of your workout. ^_^

Was talking to my brothers girlfriend yesterday and we both used too play varsity tennis in high school, so we made a pact that once the weather stops being sucky that we'll go out to the park a few times a week and play. Tennis has always helped me trim up a bit, so I'm hoping it'll get me back on track!

Since I have to quit school during the summer, I've decided to try doing this working out and dieting stuff AGAIN. If I can't do it this time, I'm never going to be able to. I found I when I went to the doctor that I weigh the most right now then I have in my entire life. It's not that terrible, but it still made me feel really bad. I've been dieting for 3 days so far, and I think I'm finally starting to get the hang out it. The last time I tried to do it I quit because I was so hungry all the time. I realized this time around that I was starving myself because I wasn't reading the site correctly and was eating 1300 calories a day and then burning off 500 doing cardio. I didn't know you were suppose to eat enough so you had 1300 calories to make your body run throughout the day, stupid me.

Also I have a Myfitnesspal, if anyone else does, so we can be internet bros on there.

Also, question, is it that important to meet protein, fat, and carb goals every day? I never hit how many carbs and fat I'm suppose to get in a day but I always go over in protein. I'm always under my calorie goal and not hungry but I was wondering how much that would effect me getting into shape.

I've been trying to restrict my carbs to the morning only.  So eat your carbs in the morning, and taper them off as the day goes on.  For dinner, eat protein and vegetables.  (The current program I'm following recommends to eat berries with your dinner.  I think they have a good amount of fiber in them, and probably have less sugar than other fruits.)

I don't know how it is for women, but for men it's recommended to get approximately 1g of protein for every 1lb of body weight, if your goal is to add muscle.

The other day I did some judo push-ups (also called divebomers, Hindu pushups, and a hundred other names).  He shows 2 different variations in the video, I did the second one because it's easier, it's been a long time since I've done these.

I am one sore rep rep today. :<

@Reppy: So, I just tried the Goblet Squats today at the gym. THANK YOU! I haven't been able to do deep squats for yeeeeeears, but those Goblet Squats did the trick. It was incredible. Did 3 sets of 15, and got ripped apart, lol. I'm feeling it all over. Just feels great to finally have a way of doing full, body-wracking squats again. Thanks for suggesting them, Reppy!

No problem.  I have problems doing regular squats as well, but that's because I have such poor wrist flexibility it's hard to get the bar set up properly. :\

Have you tried using kettle bells instead? They might contour to your grip better than a bar.

I think my gym has some kettle bells but I don't know how much they weigh.

Eventually, I will find someone that knows how to squat properly and have them teach me. ^^;;

My mom has started a thing where she's not going to drink alcohol until 4 July. I wanted to join, but then I remembered that I don't drink alcohol to the point where cutting it out of my diet for a month would do anything, so I decided that I'm not going to drink anything but water for a month, and keep all sweets/snacking to a minimum. Hopefully this combined with the fact that I've made friends with fellow parkour enthusiasts will help me slim down/tone up enough for all the cosplays I have planned in the future... Mainly the superhero cosplays, since female superheroes have ridiculous bodytypes that I don't feel anywhere near confident enough to pull off now.

Also I've learned I hate working out in a gym because it feels so forced, but I'll run around with friends all day and feel great. Climbing trees and bus shelters and playing soccer is way more fun than lifting weights or running on a treadmill.

Things have actually been looking up recently. Physically that is.
Once I get to union station I walk to work everyday. Rain or shine. That's 12 blocks there and back. Plus I have to walk another 9 blocks to get to my house from the bus stop when heading home(my dad usually drops me off at the stop in the morning). Nothing has changed as of late very much, but I'm feeling healtier and more alive. hopefully the sun will stay out more and then I can do even more.

Status: 22, 137lbs at 5'2". It sounds like I'd be fat but I have a pear shaped body so all the weight I gain generates in my hips and boobs so it just makes me look curvier. If you looked at me right now you'd just say I'm skinnyfat, not even chubby.

Goal: 125-120lbs. It's where I've been throughout my teenage years, but I gained 16lbs from birth control two years ago and have since failed to lose it. Even if I don't reach that goal (which I totally can if I just stick to my friggin diet), I'd like to at least gain some muscle back. I want to be toned.

Plan: I'm on a fairly stable diet at the moment (at least I have a plan to, but I keep messing up because people fill my house with snacks and take me out to dinner all the time) so if I stick to that I could lose the weight within two months or less. I also plan to start jogging every other day during the summer. I get out of school on the 10th and I'm not taking summer classes so I plan on sticking to a regular schedule like I did with school- go to bed around 11 and wake up around 8. I know, 9 hours of sleep seems like a lot since the average is 6-8, but I was just born the type of person who needs more sleep than others. I like waking up, eating breakfast, watching some news for an hour or so then going for my jog. It wakes me up. Other than that a little bit of weight repetition and I should be just fine.

I was a competitive athlete for eleven years so fortunately working out comes easy to me and I know how to train my body. UNFORTUNATELY I'm a lazy butthole.

Sounds like you've got a solid plan, Roah. That's great that you've got the athletic background. Like you said, with all your preparation, if you stick to your plan you should have no problem losing those few pounds. Don't forget about strength training though, if you're trying to get toned. Just running and dieting can't replace the muscular stimulation you get from lifting or any kind of strength training.

Best of luck!

Thanks very much! Man I could definitely benefit from some strength training. I have some weights, I usually just do a good bout of repetition lifting. I do squats, push ups and sit ups as well, plus sometimes if I'm up to it, I'll take the weights with me when I jog or walk. Jeez, when I quit sports, within two months I lost 20 pounds of SOLID muscle. It's ridiculous. Definitely one of those things you have to keep at or you'll lose all your progress. Bodies are weird :x

I have stopped working out since I got my puppy so I am going to change that. I was on the elliptical for 30 minutes today while doing arm exercises. After that I did some push ups various ab workouts and some butt workouts. The I took Chewbacca on a walk to the bank. Once he gets a little older he is going to be my jogging partner and we will jog to the store at least twice a week (its a mile to the store so two miles total)

Recently realized how much I need to do strength training. When the tire of the car went flat, I couldn't turn the wrench the slightest bit to change the tire, even when I jumped on it. Luckily some guy helped me, but it'd be nice to be stronger and do things like that myself. T^T

Had a good work out today. Although, no jogging since it's only been raining all day and I'm already sick, but it made me feel a bit better. :D

Ah, don't feel too bad about the tire thing, Emo. There are some of us (not me of course!...I'm super awesome... ;D) who have the same troubles. Changing tires can be a tough thing, depending on how old your equipment is.

It's good to have that motivation, though, and know what boundaries you want to cross within yourself. Keep it up!  :)

Speaking of swimming, I was finally able to find some swimming trunks, so I am going to try to start swimming laps daily. I used to for a couple weeks and it was quite helpful, especially since my knees are so bad.

As far as progress goes, though, I am still hovering around 345 lbs. Just can't break it.  :-\

I did burn about 1380 cals at the gym today though, so that's a nice workout day for me.

Swimming! My grandpa lives in one of those big retirement neighborhoods that have private pools, and before my mom worked full time she would take my brother and I there. But now that both my brother and I can drive, we'll be able to go on our own!

Also I tried to go running last weekend but had an asthma attack because I was out of one of my prescription medications for it, but now I've gotten the refill and I'm going to go running next weekend when I'm at my mom's.
Just curious, what music do you guys listen to to get pumped up or motivated? The song "Magia" by Kalafina (aka the ED for Puella Magi Madoka Magica) is SO CRAZY GOOD and I feel like a badass magical girl when I listen to it.

I have a Metal playlist I listen to whenever I go to the gym. Presently 1777 tracks, I listen to it on shuffle. Everything that could be considered metal, from progressive metal post-rock to melodic death metal and extreme black metal. Anything super brutal and vicious gets my energy up (lately I've been listening to a lot of Amon Amarth and The Black Dahlia Murder...can't beat that when adrenaline is what you need).

Okay, you and I need to hang out, Reppy. Metalheads within the con-community...we gotta stick together!

And you've got a great list there. Lots of bands I need to check out. I have a few viking metal bands I really dig, but I have not listened to any of the first list, so thanks for that.

And your second list is full of fantastic. Behemoth, Ceremonial Castings, Orphaned Land...great stuff there. Reminds me of some albums I need to pick up, lol.

Edit: And to keep this on-topic . . I just weighed myself at 173.2lbs.  ^_^  I think when I started about 5-6 monthsago, I was roughly 180lbs.  If I could lose 2-3lbs more of body fat while putting on some more muscle I'll be lookin' good.  :D

Yeah, I do remember seeing you at that concert, haha. Actually, now thinking about it, that was the last show I've been to. I need to get back out there.

But yeah, metal...great workout material. Have you heard of Becoming the Archetype? They are another band I was listening to for a loooong time during my workouts. Their latest album, 'Celestial Completion', is all kinds of experimental brutality.

But anyway, I think I've thoroughly derailed the thread, so...

next week is gonna suck for me workout-wise. I have to work 5 of 7 days, thus won't be able to workout but for 2 days. That's gonna be rough, but hopefully it won't be too damaging.

So that means you missed Rotten Sound (if you love brutal metal, I think they pretty much define it), Ensiferum, and Finntroll? ;P

Can you even just squeeze in 10-15 minutes on another day or two?  Have you ever heard of Tabata style workouts?  This one I found on YouTube just now starts out sort of similar to the jumping jack/squat thrust workout I mentioned a couple pages back, but instead of more sets of the same thing, it has different exercises throughout the entire process.

Give it a try.  But do the movements as fast as you can.  She does 'em a little slow in the video, perhaps to show how to do it.  Guarantee you will be dying within a minute.  =)

Just checked out one of the videos, looks like a great routine to work into my non-gym days. Thanks for sharing that. I'm sure I'll be dying in no time with those, lol.

And yeah, I did miss that Ensiferum show. My friend's band was actually playing as an opener, and I would have loved to come out and support them and see that lineup but I was working that evening (as tends to be the case for most concerts lately, it seems). I just need more weekday concerts, but everything seems to be on Saturdays now.

If I recall correctly, that band didn't get to play.  =(  I remember because we were running behind and I was shocked to find out that when we were 15 minutes away that Rotten Sound was setting up to play.  We were running late, but not THAT late!!  I was sort of irritated since it also meant I didn't get to hear any Barren Earth.

So we are going to some sort of beach today and I was putting on my swimsuit and I noticed my belly is almost gone and I can start to see a six pack. I have always been able to see the top part but now I can see the rest faintly. If I keep this up I will be fine for Kumoricon :3

I'm lookin' skinnnny.  Starting to see definition and abs again.  w00t.  =D

Also, totally remembered a song you'd probably like Eve . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlRtG9ls3Ig  It's actually a cover of the song "Black Soul Choir" by 16 Horsepower, which is also a great song.  I actually prefer the original song . . bluegrass ftw.

Edit: totally unrelated, but I just watched that CC live video . . and I completely forgot about the part at the end.  I know both of those guys, pretty cool dudes.  Geddon especially.  hahahahaha.  He's a huge anime fan.  We hung out and watched like 10 eps of Ouran Host Club in a single sitting once.

Almost passed out at the gym today. I think it was a combination of dehydration...and only having eaten three cookies all day. Yeah, horrible feeling...passing out is not fun.

But, other than that, I had a brutal workout today. So, yeah, cool, lol.

-Yay Titus!

-Bad Eve >.<  You should always have something to eat a while before you workout.  Otherwise your body thinks it needs to hold on to it's energy stores because there is no food, OH DEAR!~  Yall need to remember to eat something, and drink water too :)

haha, oh yes, I know this now (I knew it before, really, but was just absent-minded today, apparently). Thanks for the advice, though. I'm gonna have to make more of an effort to always eat something substantial before my workouts, as I never, eeeeeeever want to feel that way again.

When I first started up my workout again, I would occasionally get nauseous the first couple of weeks.  I actually had to stop once because I felt like I was going to throw up in the gym.

I forget exactly what causes it, but there are supplements that will help reduce / prevent it.  Though, I haven't had any problems and if anything I'm pushing myself harder now.

Obviously I won't get down to the perfect size but I've lost 15lbs in the last 1.5 months.  Still have my own gravitation pull and probably affect the tides on the Oregon coast, but I'm too excited to worry.  I just ordered my cosplay Vash jacket and can't wait for it to get here.  Cheers.
