Vendors?
« on: January 28, 2011, 12:56:02 am »
I'm not sure if this goes here or in Live Programming, but I was wondering when the information for being a vendor at the con will go up.

Also, where is the dealers room going to be? Which location?

Ok I'm sorry to keep bumping my own post but I was told it would be up after Sakuracon, so...now does anyone know?

I'm going to assume it would be in the parking garage at the Hilton like it was in 2007. However, now that there are two hotels, that could change. Book in the Hilton if you don't want to walk or want to be "right in the action". Perhaps bring it up at the next General Meeting.

Yeah, I emailed and only got a general "we'll have information up after Sakura Con". Then nothing.

Actually, though the Powers That Be have not yet approved the final map for release yet, I can assure you, as the Assistant Director of Relations (and thus one of the people in the know about this sort of thing), that the Red Lion at the Quay will be your destination for Shopping.  Both the Exhibit Hall and the Artists' Alley will be located there.

Thank you for your patience!

All right, that's good to know.

When can we expect the rest of the information to come around? Like the price and size of the space and all that?

Sweet. I already reserved our room at the Quay due to the lower level of wallet squeezing plus a riverside view and queen sized beds. I personally don't understand why the Hilton is more expensive considering that the Red Lion offers so much more in terms of amenities and things like that. It was a no-brainer for me honestly.
Why yes. I did draw that myself. How could you tell? I'm sorry too.

Has there been any word yet? I really don't want to come across as pushy, but at the same time I've got to have time to prepare and make all my arrangements, and I know I'm not alone in that. Even those potential vendors who aren't a one-person operation need to have time.

Agreed, and you're definitely not alone in that.  We haven't heard anything from anyone about when merchant registration is going to be available, and we have something like 6 people to register for our booth...

This is honestly very strange. Everything else seems to be up, or at least partway up, but this is like a giant gaping hole.

I know they say it's some legal thing, but...really I can't imagine it being that much of a different contract from anywhere else. We've done at the Hilton there, and MEWcon had vendors at the Red Lion before...

Frankly though that's another issue. Will people be willing to walk there for the vendors? Is there some reason we can't use the parking garage of the Hilton again? I mean, if there is that's fine, but with NO word at all, my list of questions just gets longer.

I sure hope there'll be some major events at the Red Lion to draw people there, because I really can't see people being willing to come to a dealer room that's so far from the rest of the convention, and those who do I can't see them being willing to spend near as much, either money or time.
