Makeup thread
« on: February 09, 2011, 08:51:31 pm »
Basically for discussion of makeup and people who want help or etc etc etc.

Makeup plays a big role in cosplay, I think every cosplayer looks better if their makeup is done correctly. We're in a forum full of cosplayers, I'm sure everyone won't mind sharing their tips and techniques.

This is a makeup discussion thread, so if you are anti-makeup, this thread ain't for you.

I'm having problems with my eyeliner...It smuges by the end of the day and makes me look like I haven't had sleep in a long time. I use this stuff right now.

Oh yeah, Shay, what eyeliner did you use for Scabber's whiskers and nose?

Haley, I recommend NYC Liquid Liner. It's what I use right now, everyday; It's under 3 dollars. Best liner I've ever used of the drugestore variety, I absolutely love it.

(They changed their packaging, but it's still the same thing as before.)

I'm sorry I recommended the marker liner hahaha, I never had problems with smudging. The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that it wasn't very black.
I can just get that at a place like walgreens right?

So I don't wear makeup at all usually and am therefore clueless about it, but I want to get some for my Tsubaki cosplay. The biggest thing I was wondering about was foundation - I don't really have acne, but I do have some freckles and very bright red cheeks that I wanted to cover. Does anybody have any suggestions for something cheap that I could get at like Walgreens? Because I have no idea what to look for. ^^;

Also, besides foundation, is there anything else you would recommend I get/use for the cosplay?

Anyone looking for a great foundation or under eye concealer should check out Clinique. It's more expensive, but I've found that some things in life are just worth the extra money. Foundation is one of them.

This is what I use: http://www.clinique.com/product/CATEGORY4900/PROD541/Makeup/Foundations/index.tmpl And I love it. It lasts long (both wear and the bottle of product) and has great coverage. I highly recommend it. :3

Dana: I've used this for under my eyes and have had a great experience with it: http://www.clinique.com/product/CATEGORY4896/PROD858/Makeup/Concealers/index.tmpl However now I just use the foundation I linked to above for under my eyes and I've found it works pretty much just as good.

Thank you, I'll try that.

I dont reccomend the e.l.f. make up. I got some for Christmas, and it gave me a horrible rash on my eye lids. Also, their eyeliner would not come off, no matter how many times I used my eye makeup remover. They have some good make up yes, but their eye products are horrible. I reccomend cover girl, hardcandy, and wet n wild for eye make up. All of my make now is hardcandy and its great. Not very cheap, but its at walmart so you dont pay too much. They have great colors that you would wear for cosplays.

Okies, soo i have a really bad nose >.< I dont have acne anywhere else, just black heads and dry skin on my nose. I use face wash, and this youth stuff from cindy crawford to get rid of the bags under my eyes, but my nose is my worse problem. Anyone have any sugguestions on how to.. i dunno, stop being bad lol Like just get rid of the dry and dead skin. I cant use scented lotions either, and most lotions i have found for your face are scented.

Elf products are usually fine with me. I use some of their eyemakeup, including eyeliner. You might have had an allergic reaction or something O_O

Ummm using lotion on your face is a bad idea..... use a moisturizer FOR YOUR FACE... also using acne wash and keeping good hygiene and also eating a good diet.

Bags under the eyes? Stay away from drinking water a while before going to bed.

@meep Thank you ^-^ I'll look for some moisturizer that hopefully wont make my face turn all red >.< And I agree, I probably did have a reaction. It might just be me, I dunno.
