Uhmm hello forum people!
I'm not very well known here... at all .___. But I felt like starting a topic! Tehehe >:3

Do any of you play an instrument?
I'm in my school band, I play the sax~ But my friend is also teaching me piano..!

^Well it takes years to learn,it's a very difficult instrument! You actually have to play on something called a chanter for about a year before you can play the actual instrument, and once you get the instrument, it usually takes you a couple of months before you can play it to work up your stomach muscles and lungs to handle the blowing.
I couldn't teach it to save my life xD;

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? If you're under 18 I know a really great lady that may be able to teach you, but you'd have to fork out the money for a chanter and some beginner books. All of which you can get at the Scottish Country Shop in Portland.

^Hmm, that's starting pretty late, I don't know if she'd be willing but you could always contact her, since her main focus is on youths for her and her husband's pipe band. If you go to this site:

and go to "information" at the bottom there will be a phone number and a e-mail link in which you can contact her. I think e-mail may be your best bet for starters, actually. Just send her an e-mail telling her you're interested in playing the pipes, tell her your age, and if you're too old, who she can refer you to help you. On the "getting started" page of the website they'll tell you what you need for a beginner. The lady's name is Robbi Brewer. You should also ask her what books you should start out with.

I used to play the trumpet in middle school. Oh the memories of Hot Cross Buns... I still have it and can play fairly well after a bit if warming up.
I can also play the ocarina. (Yes, Zelda influenced me. xD)

From 5-15 I played the violin, I was really good at it when I was about 9-12 but the last couple years of me playing it I wasn't taking lessons and just picked it up on random occasions, until I finally ended upreplacing my passion for violin with theatre at 16. I still love watching people play, and about once or twice a year I'll bust my old violin out and play a bit, but I get all frustrated because I don't sound as good as I used to. XD

I would LOVE to learn how to play piano though, I feel like it has a lot more versatility and is more relaxing to play.

I play violin, piano, mallets, timpani, and crash/suspended cymbals. I also had a dream last night where I learned trombone, that was weird. .

I was in my school's marching band's pit this year, actually, hence all the random percussion instruments.

I miss Marching Band much more than I miss Symphonic Band. I played clarinet in both, but sadly haven't played in years. This is in part due to having developed asthma. *Sad sigh.*

Piano is the first instrument I really learned to play, but I didn't continue with it. I can play a few songs by heart on it (Tetris theme is my favorite) and I can pick out pieces slowly if I have the sheet music. :B

I can also play the clarinet, since it's what I started with in band and I've had to play it every year for marching and pep band stuff, but I'm not that great at it.

I acquired an accordion this year, but I wasn't allowed to use it until I had gotten my college apps done. Now I'm super excited to be able to learn, just need to find the time. 8D

Keyboard, Keytar, Bass, and Vocals in one band, Bass and Keytar in another. I also used to play Piano, Xylophone, Vibraphone, Marimba, Bell Lyra, Tympani, Chimes, and Aux Percussion in Band in high school and middle school. Only instrument I've had formal lessons in was 4 years of Classical and Jazz Piano but I have an uncle who teaches folk guitar who gave me a few lessons when I was starting out. Other instruments I play are: Mandolin, Dulcimer, Violin, Contrabass, Organ, and limited amounts of Harmonium, Accordion, Panflute, Tin Whistle, Recorder, and Drum Set.

I like me some musics :3

I sing Bass II, sometimes baritone.

I played banjo for some years, and built a 33-string harp which I also enjoyed.
Played clarinet as a schoolboy but never made much headway. Tried a Scottish chanter too.

I like singing maritime music, polyphony, chant (especially at Mass,) traditional religious motets, Tudor fun, R. Vaughn Williams, and barbershop when I can.

Love singing the 'rest' of the Messiah, also Bruckner's 'Te Deum,' and Beethoven's 9th 'Chorale.'

Did the Verdi Requiem back in the day and that was a bit of fun too.

^ Violin is intense. I'd suggest learning it once you get the treble clef down on piano.
