I subscribe to TED.com and I get weekly e-mails about their new videos.  I really liked this video, titled Ron Gutman: The hidden power of smiling.

So, since we can only discuss this video for so long . . I'd also like to know: what makes you smile? ^_^  Pictures, videos, stories, etc.

Lots of goofy things here make me smile.

Music often does.

Ducks making an outstanding play in football.

Huskies lost. UNless they are playing another conference in a bowl.

Lakers lose badly.

My union local president telling me he's working on getting us pay raises to be closer to what other co-generation engineers earn.

And someone showing a flash of brilliance/beauty that I was not expecting to see.

oh, and knowing today is my Friday!

Hehe.  I enjoyed that as well. ^_^  SWEPT, NO LESS.


So, today I was outside on my lunch break (around 2pm).  I was sitting in the grass in my front lawn.  I live right next to a middle school, and sometimes they do their marching band practices in the neighborhood.  Well, today was just one of those days.  They ended up stopping near the row of mailboxes just outside my cul-de-sac, so I stood up to watch 'em.  I'm not entirely sure what was going on, because everyone was just sort of randomly banging their drums, playing their flutes, blowing their trumpets, etc . . And I can see the band teacher trying to get everyone's attention.  As I'm sitting there watching the scene unfold, suddenly an overpowering sound of saxaphone fills the air.  Some kid was straight rippin' it up and he didn't care one bit.  It was so dang funny I had to turn myself around and laugh for about a minute straight.

Feelin' pretty good right now. ^_^  I received a letter in the mail from my school saying I was selected by a member of faculty to attend their annual Alumni/Student dinner. ^_^  Now, I wonder who it was? XD
