Hetalia World Meeting 2012
« on: September 06, 2011, 09:50:35 pm »
~This year ChibiOrochimaru and Mitsukai Mizu Amaya welcome you to join in~
Yes, here it is....I mean hey the world is suppose to end in 2012 right? I think we need another World meeting then.
Sense we had to turn down almost 100 people who waited in line (I'm very sorry about that to everyone who did get turned away) We did tape it for you to see.
Here is the world meeting from 2010http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41pP12xb8R4&feature=related

Here is the one from this yearhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubaL0gWJ9wU

Alright, Lets get this panel figured out early, Sadly though we won't be having an 18+ one again because of what happened at this one. Several con rules were broken and it was a bit of a mess as a panel, so bad in-fact me and one of the others leading the panel went around apologizing for some of the cosplayers that were there.
I do want to say thank you though to everyone who did help in this last world meeting. You all did great <3 <3 <3

On a happier note though, I'd love to hear from people intrested in being in this next years panel. I mean its never to early to start on next year~

Agreed, the 18+ got out of hand a couple times.

Also, I would like to oppologize if I did anything that offended anyone.

I can't say for sure that I'll participate in 2012, but time/money/schedule permiting I will.

I love to join again. Though I'm torn between going as Nyo!Japan or Hong Kong again. I'm more familiar with Japanese culture/history and still feel I have a long way to go to make a good Hong Kong... otz

What kind of topics will be the theme next year? I'm sure if we tackled some light-hearted subjects people are concerned about- like different animation/comic censorship across the world- would bring some fun perspectives.

I would be in love if I could join again. Probably as Ukraine, even though I wanted to try making a Switzerland costume for next year. Still, it is a year away. Who knows where all of us will be by that point.

You were such a cute hongkong though x33333
As for topics i've been thinking about that too, the ones we had this year were errr.....well harder to go off of or really just centered around America or Englands cooking. the censorship would be a good one though, It would be fun to discuss like diffrent foods some countries eat (IE Korea and their love for kimchi and so on) And see how other countries react to that but once again I see it going back to Englands cooking.

Augh, thank you so much! =¬= What I'll be will most likely be centered on what writingfast and I can come up with. If she becomes Switzerland, then I will definitely be Hong Kong. Perhaps I'll do Bussinessman!HK, and talk about my fabulous banks and complain about China the economy next time. XD

Korean food = <3 How about this? A rule that won't allow people to talk about overdone subjects? The punishment if such a rule is broken they are no longer allowed to talk until that one subject matter (or more) is over. That should put people on their toes!

Yeeeea sorry about usually having it trail back to Englands cooking; I guess its amusing to do because of the overeactions of Englands xD

Also we should try to figure out an earlier system of how people are seated in; need to make sure we have a list of people so they can get in.

Ill probably have Fem Turkey, Fem Greece and Fem Germany next year. Or atleast I hope to.

God help me for suggesting this, but: "Pasta/Noodles around the world" about how different countries deal with pasta/noodles or even dumplings (English vs Chinese vs Pirogie{yes they're technically dumplings}) though I think we'd have to limit how much Italy can speak.

Another good subject would be mythology. About everyone has their own version of dragons. What cultures consider good/bad luck would also be amusing.

About the 18+ panel....quite honestly I didn't think it was that bad, but that's probably cause I'm used to much worse.  Honestly, if it got THAT out of hand, as the people running the panel, you guys should have stepped up and put a stop to it.  You guys could have escorted the troublemakers out, or stopped the panel long enough to tell us we were going way out of hand, and threaten to stop it early if we didn't shape up.  Instead, you guys barely stopped us.  It's unprofessional that you didn't, really.

If I go to K-con next year, I might come.  Not sure yet. :/

If things were getting out of hand then yes, it is up to the panelist to control their panel.  But the attendees also need to take some personal responsibility... an 18+ panel is not an excuse to get away with anything.

As for professionalism.... all panels (except for guest/industry) are run by fans, for the fans.  Yes, they need to be prepared and in control of their panel, but they are fans as well, and are not perfect.

Well yes, I do agree that the panelists needed to take a step up. I kept wanting to remind kyo of how we got everyone's attention in Japanese club.

OI MINASAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But yeah, just the same even if they should have done something, we are..... "adults" a scary thought I'm sure. We should have a bit more control on ourselves. I could have been a bit less rowdy but I wasn't all that bad. I actually got a hug for good behavior. =^w^=

I like hugs

Anyways I think if we do do it again, you should point out that we should be able to behave better than the minors, which we didn't. PUT US TO SHAME!

^0^ SHOWER OF SHAME!

Atleast we know better for next time, honestly it was our first time with any type of 18+ event and wasn't expecting things to get so bad. We had one of the panalists almost fainted from a stress headache and another went off to join with the events taking place in the room. I'm not going to go off and blame one party or another, We as panlists should have yes stepped up for what was going on. And yes the people attending should have behaved better.

Anyway! I will be going as Scotland for the panel!

Alas I have many regrets upon not attending this conflicting yet amusing panel. My mind being of derp and caffine imagined that a hetalia panel would wish for Hetalian cosplayers. Seeing as how Latvia cosplay was uncomfortable and Italy's pants were evading me........I was to remain Grell. Had I went anyway, I realize now that I might've made it in. I, for the life of me, can't believe I forgot that anyone could join the panel......*headdesk* Oh well there's always next year.

Speaking of, I'm thinking of being N.Italy since I really enjoy the cosplay but I don't know..we shall see.

Yeeeea sorry about usually having it trail back to Englands cooking; I guess its amusing to do because of the overeactions of Englands xD
Lol...my bad too...I like to be England for all of this type of stuff but when I asked why everyone bags on UK I was serious...it was getting to be too much for me and I was getting bored of pretending to cry/reacting over things so I ended up just drinking my tea...

I said this in my post for the 2011 thread but here it is for this one too. ^_^ It has to do with the little scenerios people would do in the middle of the meetings.
"What we could do is be a little more organized and have set skits or scenerios if we have them. Like me as England putting the collar on to Seychelles at the 18+ pannel, that was planned by the two of us but I had no idea when to do it...I mean little things like that can be entertaining but maybe in a set area of the meeting instead of all happening at the same time or in the middle of someone's sentence. So if someone wanted to so something like that maybe ask the people in charge via the forums before hand and ask 'when would be a good time to do___' and then they could say 'slip it in after ___ topic' or something like that."

I mean I kept seeing the yaoi books at the under 18 pannel which was handled well and kept the Under 18 part of the pannel in tact but...it happened 3 times. Then the 18+ we pretty much just little skits/scenerios and not a meeting at all.

As for topics there should be rules such as "If we bring up as topic such as food, it is not a valid reason to bring up England's bad cooking." I mean I know I'm not the best cook either and I like pertending to over react as UK over his terrible foof but after a while of people always bringing it up I was getting bored of the topic and I was little hurt myself as well. I mean think if you were cosplayed as England and people keep talking about your bad cooking...It does kinda hurt even if it's not specifically you.

Same thing for Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist(not hetalia but still it's just good cosplay etticet and it should be followed). When I was Ed it was the ONLY thing brough up...my heigth...and it didn't feel good to be called short exspecially when my 16 year old bro is 5'10'' and my 12 year old bro is 5'9'' when I'm only 5'4'' as an 18 year old...I knew I was short but it hurts to be reminded and people didn't know I had two EXTREAMLY tall brothers but I wouldn't know if there an America who was over 200 lb. before they lost the weight and got smaller and then I call them fat, which would hurt alot.(I personally fear it and almost never want to be America cause I know I'm not small) You never know and it's just respectful to not bring it up multiple times just in case it might hurt someone...

...Totally didn't mean to write this long of a reply...Sorry but I mean it's to be respectful. *bows*I am sorry for getting off topic and kinda ruining the mood...

Back onto the topic of the meeting in 2012 I think we should talk about Flags and I am totally willing to be UK again. ^-^

F.A.: I totally empathise with the hight issue. I'm 5'2" and am only the 3rd shortest in my extended family. And I've had "Edward Elric" moments myself. Which is why when I pick on an Ed, I usually use the milk angle. It may also be the reason I cosplayed Olivia Armstong, the only one who could get away with calling Ed short.

Also, as Poland, I get tired of people pushing Ponies on me. Yes it's fun the first few times but it gets old quick.

ChibiOrochimaru suggested it in the 2011 forumI don't remember who said it (and I can't seem to find it) and I agree with the Q&A style panel for next year.

Q&A does sound like a good idea; though it sounds also like it could get chaotic quite easily. Would we have timed sessions or a set amount of questions?

That was for the 2011 thread. I read that too. XD It sounds so much better that way.

Well, Chibi and I ran the Kuro panels, and both had Q&A type sections. What we did was this; the panelists were at the head of the room, facing the audience. Audience members raised their hands when they had a question, and the panelist in question would answer. I'm thinking this'll run similar, with a few changes. If we get a bigger room like Live Events, not having room at the head of the space shouldn't be a problem. Instead of character specific questions, they'd be topics for the panelist countries to discuss. Chibi and I will facilitate it and make sure a particular question doesn't run on too long. We can also have particular questions planted that activate skit type things, such as a discussion about colonies ending with England slapping a collar on Seychelles and France having a fit.

Having a Yojimbo in the room would help out too, though things should remain civil for an under 18 panel like they did this year. This IS Hetalia though...

The separation of panelist nations from the audience should hopefully stop more rowdy behavior. And in a larger room, Like Live Events, we'd all be on or around an elevated stage. We could still interact with the audience though.

And one other idea I had... no matter how much we may want to, don't go pulling missing nations from the line outside unless one of us knows them and can vouch for them. That might've been some of the issues during the 18+ panel; some were pulled from the line to be 'main' nations, and no one knew them so no one could predict if their behavior would get a bit... rowdier than con would've liked.

And the aforementioned microphone idea. People listen to you when you have the ability to blow their eardrums out 8DDDDDD -ahem- And it stops one of us from having to yell/scream over everyone to try and get order.

I agree. We need a microphone! XD

I remember Chibi saying(I think it was her)that there should only be 1 cosplayer per country. Should we start getting the word out and let peopel join? (P.S. I can help you guys in anyway you need. ^-^)

I also have a question about Fem!Nations. My friend AlisonClark was Fem America at the under 18 pannel but for this one would she be allowed? Would she still count as America or would a Fem!Nation be concidered different?

I'mma let Chibi make the decision on that one. xD Maybe limit it to one male version (Like with France; Austrian Succession, 18th Century, and regular would all count as one) and one female version?

Or maybe limit the total number of panelist nations to, like, 20, along with the aforementioned rule, and if no one applies as the original, non-genderbend versions, then it's opened up to the gender-bent ones?

I'll leave it up to her. xD I'm mostly the one who figures things out and yells at people u.u

By the way... totally making a ginormous tuna plush for next year.

I think we should run it like the kuro panel and like scar said one to one with nations and then whats left have other verisions if wanted. ( I really don't mind but its what you guys think too) And FullMetal your definatly in for next year >3

I was one of the pulled nations at the +18 panel. I was a little confused over what was going on and tried not to over do anything. I am so sorry if I did. I would love to rejoin as Scotland next year of course.

Whee! So now I'm thinking I wanna do one of Poland's crossdressing outfits, or maybe Iceland. Since they're both gonna be done in the next year.

Were you the Scotland that showed up to the Hetalia Photoshoot on Day 2 and asked the Waiter England for a picture with you?
