So i'm looking for anime to watch.
« on: October 24, 2011, 10:39:33 am »
So, some of you may have heard that i've bet boycotting anime for the past few months because Kumoricon was coming up (new anime = new characters that i want to cosplay as = me being sad because i already spent all my money on cosplays OTL).

Anyway, now that Kumoricon is over with, i'm trying to find new animes to watch. The thing is though is that i'm a bit picky on my anime. Here are some things i'm looking for:
I like animes with vampires. No, not "i'm so sexy and emotional. I give cold looks to everyone around me but that only makes me look more attractive" vampires. I mean badass, blood drinking, human/ghoul killing vampires with grins that would make the Cheshire cat jealous.

I also like animes with ether lots of girls, or lots of guys. Those tend to be animes that i really get into because the slash fan pairings make me happy. I know it's silly, but still, i like them...

I like "slice of life" style animes with silly, pointless plots as well, such as Lucky star and Azumanga daioh. Stuff with new things happening all the time.

I also really like it if the series is under 30 episodes long. I normally watch one anime series at a time (if it's complete already), so trying to watch something that's two-hundred and god knows what gets kind of boring for me after a while. Oh, and i hate filler episodes *shudder*.

I'm also looking for animes with ether catgirls or catboys. The only thing i've seen really is Loveless and Magical nyan nyan Taruto, so it'd be nice to see what else there is...

Also, i'm looking for anime that a lot of people haven't heard of. Stuff where the fandom isn't insanely huge and if i happen to want to cosplay as a character from it, it would be more original. Plus it makes me happy to know that there's really good anime out there, rather then just what's popular.

Oh, and a little fanservice. You can never go wrong with that. And really hot men. Because my yaoi fanfiction and fanart urges demand it.

Things that i'm NOT looking for:

Animes with nothing but tons of fighting.

Animes that remind me of Pokemon.

Animes with Mary Sues. Seriously, i couldn't even watch Fruits basket or Vampire night because of those two chicks in them...No offence to people who like those animes, by the way. I just can't stand Mary Sues.

Animes from the 80's and older. The style just doesn't please me in the way that newer animes do...

Animes with really annoying characters that show up all the time because they're trying to be kawaii desu ne but they only piss you off.

Yeah that's about it. Note that not EVERYTHING i wrote down needs to be in one anime (i'm not looking for a vampire catboy slice of life anime with lots of boys and fanservice here xD), but those are just a few things i'm interested in. I would also love to have recommendations to anime movies as well. I haven't seen very many of them besides the Studio Ghibli fims, so it would be nice to see what else Japan has to offer.

Thank you to anyone who took the time to actually read this and post stuff here xD

I'd recommend Karin, just because it's funny.  Not a "badass vampire" series, but still fun.

I also like animes with ether lots of girls, or lots of guys. Those tend to be animes that i really get into because the slash fan pairings make me happy. I know it's silly, but still, i like them...

Tenchi Muyo.  Easily one of the best harem animes of all time.

I like "slice of life" style animes with silly, pointless plots as well, such as Lucky star and Azumanga daioh. Stuff with new things happening all the time.

Definitely Genshiken.  The second season isn't that impressive, though...

I also really like it if the series is under 30 episodes long. I normally watch one anime series at a time (if it's complete already), so trying to watch something that's two-hundred and god knows what gets kind of boring for me after a while. Oh, and i hate filler episodes *shudder*.

My favorite such would be Blue Seed.  It's 26 episodes, with 13 Omake Theatres, which are usually 3-7 minutes long.

I'm also looking for animes with ether catgirls or catboys. The only thing i've seen really is Loveless and Magical nyan nyan Taruto, so it'd be nice to see what else there is...

...the only one that comes to my mind is Outlaw Star.

Also, i'm looking for anime that a lot of people haven't heard of. Stuff where the fandom isn't insanely huge and if i happen to want to cosplay as a character from it, it would be more original. Plus it makes me happy to know that there's really good anime out there, rather then just what's popular.

Well, I love Geobreeders, and know of only two people that have seen it before I introduced it to them.  Also, there's Project A-ko, a very great anime that inspired many trends in anime today.  I know that you said nothing from the 80's or earlier, but this one will be worth it.

Oh, and a little fanservice. You can never go wrong with that. And really hot men. Because my yaoi fanfiction and fanart urges demand it.

As for the fanservice... High School of the Dead.  Really hot men... The Wallflower.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

I agree with Black Butler, Tenchi Muyo and The Wallflower.

I also suggested Fate/Stay Night. I think it's about 24 episodes, not very well known and absolutely beautifully drawn. There's a girl running around wearing basically nothing and the concept is just ridiculous (Holy Grail war xD). There's so many pairings in this show it's crazy... And if I ever saw a decent Fate/Stay Night cosplayer (that wasn't wearing converse...) I would squeal SO LOUD.

Oh, and Black Cat. One of my first true animes, not very well known. It's got a good plot to it (I haven't actually watched the whole thing in a while... I re-read the manga at least once a year), plus lots of cosplay possibilities. Rinslet was my sister's first ever cosplay.
Kumoricon 2019:
Axel (Kingdom Hearts 3, end game outfit)
Kylo Ren (Star Wars)
Keyleth (Critical Role, opening look)

I suggest Glass Fleet, and Nerima Daikon Brothers. The second  one is a raunchy Musical Anime.

Phi (Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward)- 95%

Hmm..  For your cat ears and dog ears try Dog Days.  It is just plain fun.
I would also recommend Ao no Exorcist.  Everyone I know who has watched it, likes it.
You may try watching Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, or Kore wa Zombie Desuka?.
For your senseless comedy, try Shinryaku! Ika Musume or Nichijou.
That is a good start.

Come to my Anime Friday in Eugene some time.  with over 3 terabytes of fansubs, I'm sure to have something you would like.  ;D

I wasn't sure if you were still looking but Descendants of Darkness I think would suit you well. Whil its a older anime it is also a very light yaoi about grim reapers who go out to try to stop an insane mad scientist, who is in love with the main (male) charcter. While it is bloody it still holds comedy and almost all the characters are men. Also its not rediculously long at 13 episodes. :)

I hope this helps.
