I felt like starting a new topic on this, just because.
If you could change something about the world, what would it be?
It can be ANYTHING at all : )
I would change the worlds perception of fantasy. Make the idea of magic being real more acceptable to the 'business/harsh reality'  kind of  people. Because everyone needs something to escape to now and then.
Kumori-con 2013 cosplay plans:
Day zero: Sollux Captor
Day one: Meenah peixes
Day two: Fem! Grand highblood.
Day three: We leave at about 1:30 pm, and it's a long drive home, so no cosplay on day three. Too much make up to take on and off, haha.

I'd take away currency.  Paper money, coins, and definitely banks.  I'd abolish every form of the stuff.  Money has corrupted trade and commerce beyond reason.  It's turned the world's people into drones of the system, enslaved to the wealthy by it's control over everything.  It continues to feed heinous corporate machines that in turn feed the dirty campaigns of self-interested governments, which now seek to ban one of the few good things that money has brought about: the free trade and exchange of information and knowledge via the internet.  The money is controlled by the government, which is controlled by the money in a cycle that leaves the people out of the loop.  The only people who have enough money to truly influence government (voting is only an effective form of democracy in very small scales; it's something the bureaucracy uses to fool people into thinking they're free and in control of their own fate) are the wealthy, and far too often, they use that influence to further bolster their wealth rather than to stand up for the interests of the people.

Unfortunately, far too many feel that our technologically modern world would not be possible without money, corporations, and massive governments.  I'd argue that anything a corporation is capable of, a skilled and determined individual or small group of individuals is capable of implementing far better, just on a smaller scale.  Look at the auto industry.  The best cars in the world are made by the smallest auto companies.  As another example, Wikipedia's website is run by fewer people than this convention is.  Standardization and macroproduction (ultimately both byproducts of money) enables streamlining and production efficiency, but discourages innovation and progress.  As individuals, we are designed to think and create freely and pursue the path in life that calls to us.  Put 10,000 people in a megacorporation and try to make them all move towards a joint goal, and there's no creative momentum because there's no joint motivation; every force in that conglomeration of creative potential is pushing and pulling against others, and ever person's unique ability to contribute is lost in the vastness.  Without money, the glue that holds these corporations together - social prisons of the modern man - is gone, and the creative potential of the individuals trapped within can run free and DO SOMETHING.

I'm of the belief that the meaning of life is to be, to create, and to appreciate that which is, was, and will be.  Money has become a thick and restricting cover which holds us back from finding meaning in life; people trudge through their dreary lives each day just so they can secure the money they need in order to continue their dreary, joyless lives, then they make babies so their babies can make money and have their own dreary lives.  It's an endless cycle of boring, unfulfilling, adventure-free existence.

I understand.
I've been thinking about what the world would be like with out money. I mean, we've  dug ourselves into this huge mess, with debt and all that jazz, and I think the only way we  could ever change it is to start over completely.

Simply put: for me to be declared the supreme master, with the ability to execute any opposition with a simple thought.  I could EASILY end many of the world's problems... :D
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba

I would do away with all forms of organized religion, nationality, and ethnicity.  I am a human being, my country is the world, and my religion is to do no harm.  I think we would be better off.

And as for currency, I think we need to go back to the barter system so we are not so dependent on corporations.  Bring back the market place and always visit the "mom and pop" store.

This would probably be a literal pandora's box; but I would change the rules of reality at a fundamental level such that anything imaginable is possible, including entering in to fantasy and bringing back powers/skills/technology/magic from that fantasy (and it would -all- work; though not necessarily through the same rules as in the other/sub universe).  Meeting my other true selves would make Persona 4_a's shadow selves seem tame in comparison.

If it has to be more realistic, I would want... hum... Lelouch from Code Geass had about the right idea, even if how he had to go about it was a brutal maze of destruction; something like that but without the magic like powers leading to it's occurring.

If I could change anything in the world I'd do this. I would end the blight of SUR-Reality T.V. and lead an anime evolution, a stiooryteller's revolution in the T.V. Indiustry. Why so? For too long I've sat back and watched as shows such as Jersey Shore, and Mafia Wives have been running amuck on the airwaves. All put on by uncreative execs who are onl;y interested in the bottom line and are willing to stoop so low as to circumvent the various unions in order to sate their pocket book. T.V. may a be a mass prduction industry but it's also a creative industry. And the stagnation the T.V. industry is going through now is the sort of thing Stan Lee warned us against, "We mustn't become so comercial that we're only thinking of the deal. (Or in this case the bottome line.) Because basically we're storytellers"> The T.V. industry in my opinion is way overdue for a creative kick in the kaboodle and I want to lead that charge by mixing Japanese animation with American storytelling. I've heard all the doubters say it can't be done, but with all due respect I beg to differ. If a legally blind guy can get a 2nd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo then nothing's impossible.
One cannot truly live life without having a sense of honor.

Magic. Both the kind with and the kind without consequences. Of course, we'd still have the technology we have today, as not everyone would be the biggest "believer" in magic, if you know what I mean. Ah, fantasy...

Second choice would be the ability to bring fictional characters to life in the real world, or to travel to the fictional world that the characters live in. I'm sure many cosplayers would approve of that (though not all of them)!

You stole mine. . . lol

I would put an end to bullying.  Unrealistic, I know, but I hear all these stories about the terrible things people do to others and themselves because they're "different".  I say, this is a world of snowflakes.  Everyone is different.  People just have to accept that.
KumoriCon 2012- Maka Albarn, Alois Trancy [from OVA](maybe), Matryoshka Gumi (maybe)
ECCC- Annabeth Chase, Kuro Lolita or Matryoshka Gumi

I'd establish the Right to Privacy into the Constitution. The Founding Fathers could not possibly have imagined a world of public surveillance cameras, grocery 'cards' that track your purchases, and even fun community blogs like this - where 35 years ago we had CB radios (you didn't have to "log in' to turn them on and participate in the community that met every Thursday afternoon on Channel 29 Lower Side Band...)

So I'd like to establish that if you pay cash, you never have to produce identification for ANYTHING.
That's real freedom.

When I finally got my first job out of college, I closed my bank account and rented a U-Haul, loaded my stuff out of the parents' house in Massachusetts, bid them a farewell, and Drove West. I had nothing but cash on me, the rented truck, and my stuff. Stereo, colllege books, longarms, and personal mementos.

It occurred to me that I could have (and had the legal right to) take a right off the highway, and drive to Who Knows Where, rented an apartment (or slept in my car or under a bridge Anywhere, and tried to make a go of it.

I was really free. I didn't have to tell Mom or Dad where I was going, and nobody really knew EXACTLY where I was.

THAT IS FREEDOM, and I want to preserve and pass on a piece of that "You can go anywhere, do anything, and when you pass through town you don't even have to give out your real name" kind of American freedom. I could have blown it all in a casino or in a "house of ill repute," and that would have been no one's fault but me...

Anyways I want some of that "Nobody Gets to Know Who the Hell You Really Are" feeling...

and you do that by establishing the Right of Anonymous Purchase, Travel, and Hotel Lodgings...
That is, as long as I pay cash up front, no one has any right to record my identity, and no one can offer a lower price in exchange for identifying information. (Just like it's illegal to charge different prices because the customer's race or sex, for example)

The second would be to make this invention work.=Okay when gas prices go up I joke about meeting a milk car a car that would run on milk.  My family teases me quiet a bit, but think about it gas has Gorton more expensive them milk. And the car would run on milk and thru the process the milk would power the cart and turn into cheese
