I started working on my Azula dress and I have a question about the fabric choice. My fabric is pretty much the same fabric she used http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3066541/ It sits about the same (bunching in a few spots but it will sit beter once its ironed and finished but it will still bunch a little). My question is does it look alright or should I try something else?

I like it. It feels more natural that they would use silky fabric for their clothes, so I think it should be fine.

I still need to fix the shoes, make the arm sleeves, and then finish some small details(like figuring out how to put the hair up >_> )and it'll be done. Also want to tan more since it's just mainly my arms that got tanned so far from riding my bike all the time.

So....I may get convinced into doing Aang this year instead of Bolin...

I need to talk to my Mako and Korra about it...Between having problems with the padding and other things that I'd want more than a couple months to work on, and everyone cosplaying from Korra (even though we'd stand out a little more), and I know there's a group of my friends doing Last Airbender this year....It probably will happen that I change.

Now, to decide which outfit~

Bombadillo, tip on the Ember Island character, I say only do them if you have a group, even if it's small. That way people will actually understand you as being them and not just a bad cosplayer.
A Kyoshi Warrior would be AWESOME!

So, right now I just have everything planned for Aang. I wont be able to get anything til I get money. Though, I will be searching Goodwill for cheaper fabric and pants. And maybe even shoes bases.

For the moment I'll be focusing my efforts on doing avatar Kyoshi. Kind of motivated by the idea of getting a 'family portrait' of the avatar incarnations that people are cosplaying - like Kyoshi, Aang and Korra all together

Ben Nye cream foundation. Use Ben Nye final seal before you put it on, put final seal on after you have the foundation on, and final seal on before you do any shading or other makeup, and then of course put the stuff over the top for a final layer. That stuff won't come off until you physically wash it off (trust me on this one, I'm a Theater Arts student and a professional clown taught me the final seal trick, they usually just tell you to use setting powder but that's not for all-day wear).

Either Krylon or Ben Nye. My friend cosplays a lot with body paint so I'll probably look at Ben Nye since thats what she uses.

But I would need to commission Kataras Apron and shirt and no one has gotten back to me so I'm on my own xDx
I'll probably have my grandma help or something.

I just bought some from a halloween store in Beaverton. I'm trying to find the color I got. I got it for Darc (picture in my signature) So the color I got should work for Korra too. The one I got was on the third picture in "ma-4 Rich Cocoa"

I have some that came in my mandatory theater makeup kit. I'm usually an L-0 (and even that turns me orangey) but I did my makeup test for Tarrlok with L-3 and it got me decently dark. It's probably not very dark to someone looking at me, but for someone whose usual makeup comes in a color called 'catfish belly white' it looks like I've been baked in the sun all my life.

I'm debating getting a darker color though, if only because I feel like the stuff I'm using just isn't dark enough.

I'm technically making it for Aki-Con 'cause my friend is doing Amon, but if I finish it in time I'll definitely bring it! He's not attending but I'm sure I could find another Amon to hang around. Omg you have no idea how excited I am to read this! we have a huge Avatar group going this year and at the last moment our Azula got an internship out of state so she won't be able to go. We desperately need an Azula! my husband and I are being mai and zuko. My daughters are being toph and momo. My little sister in law is being ty lee. Our friends are being: appa, suki, and katara that I'm positive on and I think we may have a jet, aang, and iroh coming too. But I hate that we have ty lee, zuko, and mai and no Azula! it just isn't right! I love Azula too, but it'd be a little weird for my husband and I to cosplay as brother and sister.

Was just curious if anyone had a suggestion on the type of makeup I should use for avatar Kyoshi. The white base is easy enough to find, but I'm not sure what to use for the red and black above her eyes. Besides that it's coming along OK - just need to get the fabric, and the Frankenstein'd pattern is ready to go (currently a mix of jedi/Mongol/priest patterns for various parts).

I wont be doing anything this year, but I saw the design for Kya and I'm tempted to be her next year...Along with Aang of course ^^
