Picking a main cosplay?

So I decided that since I can never seem to start/finish cosplays I want that I am going to pick a certain number of cosplays, make them, and then just stick with those. And if I ever make a new one, I get rid of an old one. Then I am not in a rush to sew things (like I always am) or feel like I need something new.
The hard part? Trying to decide what to make/keep. I don't have any cosplay completely finished nor do I really have an absolute favorite series so it's hard to decide.
My most finished cosplay is my Fem!Shippuden Sasuke which just needs to have the pants, belt, and shoes redone since they ripped at Kumo last year. That one I'll probably keep since I have contacts for it and everything.
But I'm trying to find a few others. More than three so I have choices and a variety but not so many that my closet is full of them.

How do you guys decide what your main ones are or do you just make new ones every year?
I figured this would save me time, money, and stress in the long run. Maybe...?

Well, for me, I look at what I really like.  Then I sort out which ones will be the most feasible (which usually means least expensive for me).  I do plan on this Kumoricon being the first one in which I'll have (at least) two cosplays during one con, and if money is too tight, I'm planning on it being the return of Sailor Neptune (or Mantune... XD) and Lina Inverse.

I have to say I picked my favorite 3 that I really like to be which for me are Sasuke Uchiha, InuYasha and Shinji Hirako (use to be Kira Izuru) ... This year I have added one more to the list and that is Kiba from Wolf's Rain.

I have Sasuke's Curse Mark tattooed to me so he is always apart of me as it is but I really love being him.... Also all the outfits are super comfy so I do not mind being them... I always add more characters to my list for Kumoricon for the fact it is my home con and I can drive to it.

I don't really like to use cosplays over and over again. But I do agree that if I had to I would choose the one that I liked most. Either had the most fun wearing or i thought was the most attractive on me or that I think needs more time at a con.

Such as my Mion costume. Which I only wear on sundays when I spend very little time at the con. Since it's easy to wear and has never had a full day I like to wear her then. (=

I decide based on the ones I know fit the best and are the overall most comfortable. They're the ones I work at maintaining and upgrading pieces at a time. It's also generally the ones I put a lot of effort into, or have large parts of them that were made sturdy enough to survive more than one convention.

I like to just pick one character and do iterations of outfits for that one character.

that's a pretty good question..
I would normally want to pick a main cosplay ..
but I have so many I love - I'd hate to center one cosplay ??
Cycling them out and improving them is pretty good ..

But I personally like to try and wear a new cosplay for two cons before I think about swapping for a new one.
But in my case I got two new ones in one year .. so.. i want to wear both..
and the one i got for LAST year too ..
yet i love my other two cosplays.  normally I also wait for the fandom to die so its less of a cosplayed thats over dressed ??

Like Govi, I have two costumes that I love doing every year and plan on making variations of them so it keeps things fresh, but it's still the same character.
