Your "longest-running" cosplay
« on: May 07, 2012, 09:07:36 pm »
Ahaha, I have trouble wording things... Basically, I was just hoping people would share the cosplay that they've had/worn/used/etc. the longest, how long that happens/happened to be, and maybe even when you retired it/plan to retire it.

For me, it's (currently) my only cosplay: Luxord (KH2). I've been wearing that one since MEWCon 2010. Let's see... MEWCon 2010, WonderNW 2011, Kumoricon 2011, and Sakuracon 2012. So that's technically 2 years? Of course, I definitely plan to bring it to Kumoricon 2012!

For me, it was Ranma Saotome.  I began him at Kumoricon '07 and finished him at one of my college's club fairs during the '08-'09 year.  I'm planning on (most likely) bringing back Sailor Neptune, so she'll be lasting about as long, if I do.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

If we're talking characters (and not specific outfits), mine is Barret. I've cosplayed him (AC and VII versions) since Kumoricon 2007 (which would be Kcon 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011...with some little mini-events in there too). I have no plans to retire the cosplay yet. I don't plan to wear it this year though. It may make an appearance down the road, but I want to move on and branch out also.

Mine would be Haruhi FUjioka from Ouran, however I change her outfit every year so I don't get bored with it and lets see how old...... Lets see Male uniform and First episode was Kumoricon 2009, and Lobelia Uniform was Kumoricon 2011, and Female uniform will be premeired this Kumoricon. And as for retiring <.< male uniform and first ep are retired, and in full Haruhi will not be retired till i make all 20 something of her outfits xp

I'm gonna give away my age here and say, Aerith Gainsborough.  It was the first costume I'd ever made from scratch (and my second ever), and I debuted it at Sakuracon 2003, back when her name was still unquestionably spelled "Aeris".

After that, I wore that original costume to Kumoricon 2003, Sakuracon 2004, and Sakuracon 2005.  Then I created an Advent Children-style Version 2.0 that I wore to Sakuracon 2007, Tokyo Game Show 2008, Summer Comiket 2008, Summer Comiket 2009, Winter Comiket 2009, Kumoricon 2010, Animation On Display 2012, and a handful of local anime/cosplay festivals in the United States and Japan.

So, overall, I've cosplayed as Aeris/th over a dozen times, spanning nine delightful years.   ;D

whippersnappers.  ;)  :D

The oldest costume I own - and it STILL FITS by the way - which I will never retire (well, unless the fabric dies) is the green medieval dress I made in 1987 for the SCA.  I've had to mend it several times, but it's still wearable, so I won't get rid of it. I like to occasionally pull it out and wear it just to remind me that this is where I started (I used French seams to finish the seam allowances, and bias tape as trim for everything). I also still have the wool cloak I made the same year. It's a little battered, but still wearable.

The oldest costume that counts as Cosplay is my Karna from NieA Under 7. It was originally made in 1994 as a Middle Eastern outfit because I needed to have additional hot weather clothing for Pennsic War.  NieA Under 7 came out in April 2000 (so says Wikipedia), and shortly after seeing that series, I remembered my red middle eastern outfit just happened to be about 85% of Karna's outfit. All I had to do was buy a bit more red fabric to allow me to turn the tunic into a cheongsam with high collar. I then added yellow trim to the sleeves & neckline, applique'd on a panda face and made a pair of bun covers. Instant "Karna" in an evening. (Note: the most amazing thing was the fact that despite numerous washings, the red poly-cotton blend fabric I'd used originally was EXACTLY the same color as the red fabric I found that I added onto the outfit).

Princess Buttercup. But that's quickly turning into my TARDIS variations; since I'm planning on retiring/putting on hold Buttercup until I can get a new group of Princess Bride cosplayers since I lost my Dread Pirate.

Think mine is either Zidane (FFIX) or Orochimaru, both of them have been to their fair share of cons and still fit.

Mine's definitely Erica from Sakura Wars, as that one's been active in the rotation since MEWcon 2010-11.  Also probably the least recognized of mine as well!
2018 Plans: St. Gloriana Girls College tanker (Girls und Panzer), Kanan Matsuura (LL! Sunshine), Kitakami (KanColle) and possibly cafe maid.
