2012 Karaoke Contest Rules & Sign-Up

Karaoke contest sign-ups are now being accepted

Sign-up forms can be found here: Registration Form

Once again, there are two categories: Kumoricon Idol and Karaoke Cosplay Hybrid.  Whether you are singing by yourself, or have a group, there is a place for you

Sign-ups are open until August 25th (or all spots are filled.)  Forms will also be accepted at con if there is space, so be sure to sign up ahead of time to secure your spot.

No, Disney music will not be in the Karaoke book.
Now If you have Disney music on you and it is either,
Korean, Chinese, Japanese, or an Asian language I will think about it.

I have two questions.

If one were to perform a character song from an anime, will that be allowed as well as opening and ending songs?

Also, are Vocaloid songs allowed too?

Yes that is allowed, but do keep in mind that I (the judges) will want to hear your voice not someone else's voice.

For the contest, is it like regular Karaoke or Idol? XP I'm basically asking if the songs must be memorized or if i can have my lyrics to look at.  (I can memorize them, it just takes a lot longer to accomplish)

This is just an idea but I think this year, you guys should change the time of auditions to a little later than the time last year. Maybe like around 1 in the afternoon, that way, no one will get stuck in registration lines and hopefully everyone would be checked in by then so no problems would arise. It would probably be easier to have everyone audition at a time where everyone can be there instead of having to schedule some people for later. Just a thought!

The auditions are scheduled early enough in the day so that there is time for the judging and decidint the order for the contest, and to post it.

If you think you are going to be stuck in the registration line, then you can email karaoke@kumoricon.org and let us know.  Or, come let us know the day of.  I have, in the past, pulled people out of the line to make sure they get to the auditions okay.

I'm sorry if I'm being a bother, but I was wondering about the Audition List. I saw on the site that it was supposed to be announced yesterday. I'm sorry if I'm being a pest, but is everything alright over there?

I'm hoping the list gets posted soon, I would hate to not be able to check due to not having internet at where I'm staying for the next couple of days. PLEASE POST LISTALONES PLEASE? (that's probably not list in spanish, work with me peoplez)
