The contest starts at 5pm local time. I will be setting up and doing sound checks and play-testing about two hours earlier and we have the exhibition show before we start the contest.
The last category should finish at 7pm this evening. Then we will be counting ballots. It may take a few hours to determine the winners.
The Judges' Choice winner was selected by the judges at their selection event this past July.
That entry will also be revealed along with the other official results.

There is one AMV that I am considering for a personal Honorable Mention (also called Coordinator's Choice) but I have not yet committed to making that award or not.

Now the excitement is BUILDING!

The staff are aware that you would like to download a copy of the contest for your personal storage.  As well as possibly getting previous years contests and videos that have been collected over the years.  To help you with this we have set up a FTP server for everyone to download.

We have TEN PRIZES to award!

TWO prizes were awarded AT THE CON because I their creators were on-site.
This is always fun and I am grateful for the opportunity to congratulate the
winners in person and encourage them for NEXT YEAR. (Hint!!)

This is also especially satisfying to me because the AMV contest is truly
international in scope. Local talent that withstands international competition
even to make it into the playlist can truly claim to be world-class, and
this really is no mean feat.

PRIZE STATUS:
TWO Prizes were awarded on-site at the con. The editors of the "Best in Show"
and the "Trailer" category were present at con.

I mailed FIVE prizes today (4-Sep-12) and I am preparing packages for the last three.
US domestic winners should receive prizes by early next week.

International winners should receive their entries 4 to 6 weeks from now at
the latest. The only snag would be customs delays.  I will be staying in
contact with the international winners to confirm that they receive their
prize packs.

UPDATE 6-Sep-12: ALL Prizes have now been mailed. Winners in USA should receive
their prizes on or before 12-Sep-12, and international winners should recieve packages in
2 to 5 weeks depending on distance and customs inspections.

For some reason, I can't seem to access the files for the AMV contest through Filezilla. I keep getting a message saying "The file ____ cannot be opened: The associated program (_____) could not be found. Please check your filetype associations." Does anyone know what's going wrong here?

EDIT

From 6,000 miles away I could get it to work.
Open an explorer FILE browser window and type " ftp://ftp.contestamv.com "
(without quotes.)

The file side of the explorer window turns blank white.
Then right-click in the blank space and one option that appears is "Login"
Click that and you get a big grey Login dialogue box.
Use the username and password above and then the directories appear.
You can then drag-n-drop any or all files.
