Marvel/DC 2013
« on: September 19, 2012, 02:38:25 am »
So I wasn't very aware of there being a specific cosplay photoshoot that was held during con this year. I saw a few Tony Starks, X-Men and Batman Villians wondering around, but I recall their being a pretty good turn out in 2011 when both groups came together! I was hoping to do something like that this year.

I saw that there wasn't an option up on the topic board for the next year and so, I figured I'd jump on it since I have a Marvel cosplay planned for sure.
So, If you plan on coming, I'd like to hear suggestions on where you think the shoot should be! Also, by all means, progress! :D The best part about cosplay is seeing peoples progress!

I'll list the people coming and their costumes! So I can get a good idea of the turn out.

Marvel:

Captain America- Naruchan, Neko's friend
Lady!America- Teddy_Bearxx
Bruce Banner- nekovamp13
Iron Man/Tony Stark- Neko's friend, ironavenger
War Machine- ironavenger's pal
The Tesseract-Kisa-chann
DC:

Poison Ivy- CyberIncision

I have a couple Marvel costumes that I'm planning on taking to Kumo next year. Well, one for sure; not sure about the other, it depends on the rest of the group. XD

The gazebo is always a good choice, and the usual. I think we should meet somewhere and maybe go to a couple different places around the park, like the grassy area, the gazebo, the fountain, etc. I don't know how easy that would be, since there will probably be a pretty huge group like in '11.

8D That's exciting! Are they Avenger cosplays, or? There are so many Marvel Characters it can be silly sometimes. If you know the size I'd love to know!
I was thinking about that, but, I'm not sure it's superhero worthy, seeing as most superhero's tend to be more in cities.
The main stage area worked out pretty well for '11, so that may be the spot for this year as well.

I don't know if it's really "Marvel," buuuut I don't know where else to put it) so I was thinking about cosplaying a humanized tesseract next year. I really want to but first I have to figure out how that's going to work out, haha...

Any ideas?

Haha, It is, technically, it's a major plot device used in the Avengers, and that's a Marvel owned dealy.

Hmm, Well, did you wanna be like, a gijinka of it, or did you want to walk around as a giant glowing box with a head and arms. XD

Ah yeah, that's true. c:

I was wanting to be a gijinka of it, but I can't think of any way to make it clear I'm the tesseract and not some random girl wearing all blue

I was Riddler this year and had fun with my outfit. Probably wont wear him again to a con, but who knows~ My group had loads of fun as Joker, Scarecrow and Catwoman ^^

Also looking to add to our group.

@CyberIncision- 8D Awesome! I'll add you the roster I'll be making!

@Kisa- Well, you could always make a more boxy type dress, and make it a textured shiney dress. So that when it catches light it looks like it's kind of lighting up. I'll see if I can try and remember the name of the fabric. But when I think Of the Teseract I don't just think of it in blue, I think of it with some purples and greens in their too. 8D You could always make an actual one to carry around with you as well. They have pretty good tutorials on youtube and what not for that.

@Neko- Yes! I saw in the progress thread the evolution of your costume and liked it alot since Riddler is my favorite batman villian. If the group could make it to the shoot that would be awesome! Gotta say, I adored your ice king. <3

@Teddy- Lady America would make my life, you have no idea. :) But whatever you choose I'm sure it will be awesome! Not that many Starfires running around, so I'd be pretty impressed!

I'll somehow just end up doing both.
If I have the money for Starfires armor- it would have to be commissioned.

@Devils- Awesome! I love the character design!

@Teddy- That'd be dope! Let me know which one you'd most likely be wearing to the shoot. :)

@Neko- ufdslvibadflivb I'm So Jelly. I don't have any friends that are willing to be Tony for me, even if I make them the armor. XD So, That's exciting. 8D Are you being the suited up versions of casual?

Naruchan- Avengers and X-men are the two groups we have. And there are (hopefully) going to be 6 of us in my group.

Kisa- That would be awesome! As my group does the Avengers, you would be SO COOL to have to take photos with. XD

Teddy- How are you thinking of doing your Lady America costume?

@Hieis: I'm not quite sure yet. I was thinking of having someone help me make it from pleather if I lose enough of the weight I wanna loose (already lost 10lb <3), but if not I was thinking of making it like a modern day casual outfit. Long sleeve jean jacket that cuts off under the bust, blue skinny jeans and his sheild. The shirt would be hand made like a regular tshirt. Its confusing I know.

@Naru: I'll probably be Lady! America for the shoot. I wont be able to do Starfires armor, but If I have the time and money, I'll make her default and wear it for a little white at the end of the shoot, unless we do two.

Heeey what about Dynamite Entertainment? It's a smaller comic line sure, but oh my word, just in a year, the amount of titles they produce has doubled.

I'm going as Kato from the Green Hornet next year and don't want to feel left out!

Dynamite has The Lone Ranger, Zorro, The Shadow, The Spider.... lots of others...

@Teddy- That's exciting! I put it on the main post!

@Iceytina- Smaller comic lines are awesome! The last thing I want is for anyone to feel left out! :o I've heard of The Shadow, when I have time I'll make sure to look into some of the titles!

@Neko- You could look up what other Banner's have done. If they do Battle ready, you could always rip your clothes a bit and make them look stretched and worn, and do face make up like you're in mid change. XD Just a suggestion, I know the hulk is difficult to cosplay as. XD I'd love to see one though.

8D SO maybe one day? It would take a great deal of time. I'm giving myself an extensive time limit on Cap, mainly because I plan on this being as accurate as I can get it. XD I also plan to be a beef cake in a year. I've started a work out plan that is gonna kick my butt. So, here's hoping I pop up at con looking like Chris Evans. Hahaha

Oooh, that sounds like a good idea! I'll try and look for fabric like that as well, and if you remember the name of it that would be even better! And yes I was thinking of carrying around an actual tesseract, since it does seem pretty easy to make with this one tutorial I found.

@Ironavenger- 8D Not a problem, I am a super fan on people who can manipulate foam that way. XD The main reason I'm also on RPF (Replica Prop Forums) Is because I love seeing all of the Iron Man Suit development! 8D Nice Shiney cubical Battery!

@Kisa- The fabric I was thinking of is Organza, It's very fine, but is basically a kind of tightly stitched mesh. You'd have to layer it, or have a layer underneath, but the outer effect would look cool. It looks like this.
In certain lighting it has this kind of effect.
The skirt obviously, and you can layer it differently, but, yeah! 8D It would look pretty nice. Also, be warned, you can't actually iron this fabric, unless you have a towel or a thin sheet between the iron and the fabric, because it's really good at melting onto your iron.

Captain America is a maybe, a friend of mine still has the commission money, but I need to come up with an outfit.

Put me for DC as Artemis from Young Justice, and my friend as maybe for Wally. We will be causal too if she doesn't fix his superhero costume on time. My dad will be maybe be Green Lantern.

I am planning on bringing Thor to Kumoricon this year. It's shaping up that I'm going with an Avengers movie version.
