Hey there, everyone! As many of you know, Chan_Highwind and I are having a baby.
Before I go any further, please keep in mind that there are some members of the KCon family, both on and off the forums, that wish to be unaware of the gender and/or name options.
We'd like to share with y'all who are interested what the two names are, and are hoping for some feedback.
(This can also include new name ideas, but keep in mind that there's a chance for rejection, so please don't be upset).
Oh, and one more thing.
As of now, the baby will have both my last name and hers, set up as McPherson-Rochette.
(Rochette will be dropped if we end up getting married, though).
Option One: Alistair Victor
- Alistair is the Scottish variation of Alexander, which means "Defender of mankind." (Complete opposite of Al the Great).
This started when one of her role-playing buddies recommended the Icelandic version, which I couldn't even pronounce or spell, and therefore shot it down.
Besides, neither one of us is Scandinavian at all...
She liked Alexander, and found a way to make it more "blood-line" relevant.
- Victor, I guess, was a joke at first.
I, however, liked it, because it reminded me of a guy at one of my old church's that I highly respected named Victor.
As we understand, the name literally means "One who is victorious."
- Together, this hints at "The defender of mankind will be victorious."
Option Two: Altair Leòn
- Altair means "The flying eagle" (or bird, to some) and was inspired by the star Altair in the constellation Aquila.
This was chosen in remembrance of the Tanabata festival of Japan, and the star represents the male involved in the love story.
(Originally, the middle name to go with it was going to be Vega, but we opted out of it).
- Leòn is the French form of Leon, which obviously means "Lion."
We went with the French way for Chan's sake, since she's half French, and because I hate the way "Leon" sounds.
- Looking at these two definitions, put them together and you've got "The flying eagle lion." ...a griffon?
