Nintendo Game Boy repairs

I recently purchased an old-school Game Boy.  I'm not sure if it MUST have a game in it, but when I turned it on there was noting on the screen.  In the event that it is broken, does anybody know of a place I can take it to get it repaired?

You might need to have a game in it.
My Gameboy's screen doesn't show a portion of the screen on the left- so if Pokemon is in, I can't see the little pixel bouncing characters on the far left when you view them as a list. I can see like the very edge of them.
So it's probably some kind of issue with the screen and not have anything to do with the game itself. I'd say stick a game in to be sure.

There first ones, the grey ones with the green screens, they don't do anything without a game. You have to have a game in it to get the game boy on screen

If you have a used game store near you, go there. Not like gameatop, or something, but like we have 2. Ones called als gaming and DVDs, and the other is caked intrikit. They buy games then sell them

^^ The only one that I knew of in Clark County closed about a year ago.  I'll either have to find a new one or go down in Oregon somewhere.

its a cedar hills mall near the powells there and I highly recommend this store.
I was there with my mom and she was looking for a wii fit board but she had seen it cheaper somewhere else and they beat the price.  So when Chris had gathered a box of games and such to see about trading in (you can take them to Game Stop if you want pennies...)
So I suggested them and he was able to get a good chunk of store credit, my younger brother did the same and was please with results.  They have a ton of old games.

So, according to a friend up here in Vancouver, my system is broken.  She put in one of the earlier Pokemon games, saying that it was still new enough to work on this thing.  (From my understanding, it's not, but what do I know?).  Now I'm gonna Google map this Game Traders place...  is the address 3205 SW Cedar Hills Blvd.?

What Pokemon game did she use? Only the very first original red and blue work in it. The made red abs blue for gbc as well. Make sure it's not those ones

The casing was red, I know that much.  Oh, and I think she said the game was made in '95.  It had the little notch in the top of it, so that the game would lock into place, as well; she said that this was a sign that it was compatible.

The only way you're gonna know if it's the right one or not, is on the top of the game itself, it'll say either "GAMEBOY" or "GAMEBOYcolor"..The first one will work, the other won't.

hay i have some old game boy games you can try at the con if you want / they ones that work all have gray cases with a few exceptions like yellow ones

Video Game Wizards is awesome and even stock some replacement parts sometimes. They will also replace cartridge batteries and have a nice variety of stock despite the small shop space.
