What do you use to put your prints up?
« on: June 01, 2013, 09:19:18 pm »
Last year I borrowed a friend's grate..like..thing?? (it folds open and closed) last year so I could put my prints up. However, I'm going to need to buy my own this year!
So I am wondering when you are selling prints what do you use for display? And where can I get the materials?

I am looking at wire cubes on amazon right now and for 4 it is $30. Is there anything cheaper than this that is sturdy as well? Or is there something else you would recommend?

I have seen a lot of people making a large arch out of PVC pipes and then hanging their art off of that. PVC is pretty cheap and light and easy to haul around.

If you aren't feeling in a DIY mood, you can always rent display fixtures. I have used http://www.portlandstorefixtures.com/ a couple of times now for different events. THEY ARE AMAZING!!! And their rates are very reasonable.

If you hit up google image search and do "artist alley displays" you'll find a treasure trove of usable ideas. Good luck!

I have these (the same thing you have):

BUT!! At fred meyer, they are a 6PACK (I think, if not, 4, but I'm pretty sure I got 12 out of 2 boxes) for $20!!
They can be stacked however you want. And I stack them like this:

I have a crap ton of those "backing packs" that you get with comic books, and I will use one for each pic I have, and use binder clips for on the wires to hold up the pouches.

You're welcome. Be forewarned though, Those things are pretty weak..If you push too hard to get the connectors in place, they can break..I almost broke one..Good thing I have more then I needed (I didn't need all of the cage sides or connectors). But yea..Thought you'd like that info..

Also, when you're home, they make good storage bins (which is what they are SUPPOSE to be used for lol) in between cons.
