Hoy! I meant to post up pictures of my latest creations but the digital camera, which is my dad's, needs new batteries! So they're charging up right now.
I've made a Tohru so far, a Yuki, Kagura, and a Kyo! ^^ I've also got Ayame's and Momiji's body finished, they just need heads.
The finished dolls, they all, at first, had their faces drawn on with a permanent marker (thick too!). I thought it looked not very good with the rest of the work I put into the dolls. So, yesterday, I went to town with my parents - the whole family went because it was dentist day. No cavaties for Vicky! Anyways, I stocked up on felt as I have recently cleaned out the local craft shop of all the skin-colored felt.
I found a perfect shade of brown I've been needing desperately - a light brown, not the really dark or barely brown color. I'm going to use it for Miaka or something else because I'm only going to do the main characters of Fruits Basket before I move onto to another series.
(Should I do all the Sohma's, will they sell even better because there are no other UFO character dolls available for them? I'm planning on doing Shigure, Hatsuharu and that's it, for Fruits Basket.)
Ahem, and yesterday I was looking for fabric paints, mainly black and white to paint on faces for the dolls because I thought it'd look much better/professional. I found no cheap fabric paint, so I bought acrillac paint hoping it would work. I got home last night and tested it out and it worked beautifully! I was so worried it might not, but I bought many paintbrushes, though rather cheap, and thin ones too! So the dollies, I'll post pictures of, and that's that!
Oieeeeeeee! *hops around and hands everyone some pocky* I'm so happy! Yesterday night as well, I made up a new doll pattern! I'm going for bigger and larger! Yes, I'm making just over a foot dolls! I think I'll do more than one.. ^^; *gets ruler out*
Ah, yes! I've got the body all finished - torso with legs (up to the calves) part, and have sewed the arms on and have a neck all ready. 12 inches reaches just above the armpits! XD I've never done anything this big before! Yayyy!
Yesterday too, it was a great day to find crafty thigns, I went to 2 thrift shops. I absolutely LOVE thrift shops, great to find cheap fabrics and crafty things! It was $5 bag day at one of them, so I found a leather skirt to add to my fabric collection, and an odd sort of pair of pants - it's like leather but not really. It's not thick enough to be so, and it feels more plastic-y than leather. Anyone help me out on defining the fabric type? It'd great, thin enough to sew, I think, and will surely be of use in my 6 month goal of making 50 dolls before Kumoricon!
It's a brown/dark burgundy color!
Right, at the thrift shop, I bought a thick plastic-ish bag, a light blue for a pair of high-heel-ish shoes to sew onto the calves of this "+12Feet" doll. I bought some funny light blue shorts and made them into *tight* pants, with a thin black line running down each leg. And a line running from the top of the pants to the crouch ^^;
I found a dark purple/brown pair of pants, and bought a shirt a purpler shade, to make a long-sleeved lapel coat. I did everything today, except the shoes, that was last night's work! And I need to make a t-shirt, add some defining to the coat, which will have a black fur collar, and fur edging around each wrist cuff.
The t-shirt will be a light lime green, but I'm using a slightly darker shade, I hope no one notices it! The coat I made is supposed to be a bit more dark purple than it is, but with my reference, the series saved on my computer and viewed on my DivX Player, shows the coat in different shades. Ah well, it still looks good! And I need to do a belt at the top of the pants, so I don't have to hem there. I'm really doing my best at this big doll, I want it to look great!
I need to do a head too, with felt hair, glasses, and I have to do a superb job on the face! And I have to put white bandages around the neck! Which is good, because I'm horrible at connecting heads to necks - the bandages will cover this probably messy job.
Can anyone guess what this doll is going to be? I don't think there is any offical doll of this character, and I hope to make $20 on this one, if I'm very lucky! ^^ It also, to my surprise, stands on it's own, tilts a tiny bit to the *checks* If it's facing the computer screen and I'm looking at it from behind, it's tilting to the left just a bit. Ah well!
Guess who it is! ^^ And I hope all of you are doing great! <333
Oh and thank you, Leashy-Chan, Remmy-Chan! =D Maybe you can have it in your home, Leashy-Chan, if you're quick enough! I'm only doing one doll of each character, so the 50 doll-goal will of 50 different dolls, no extras or anything ^^; I'd rather diversify with many different "tastes" (dolls) rather than do 10 of Tohru, and 10 of 5 different characters ^^;
Your PM sounds interesting! I'll reply to it next!
And Remmy-Chan - ground breaking? XD Hasn't anyone else sold handmade dolls at a Kumoricon convention before? Ano, workshop? What do you mean by that? I thought it was just a table that I run, workshop, sounds like I'm going to teach others to make them or something. ^^;
Much love, and guess my "+12-Feet" doll's name and series!
