I'd love to get to talk with all of you at the Festival. I'd like to get there at about 12:30pm, because that Kendo demonstration sounds like fun. I'll be sure to bring a digital camera!

This is a festival put on by Uwajimaya to celebrate spring blossoms.

I will be attending the festival for the first time this year and from now on if things go well.

sakura is the "Cherry Blossom Tree" a non fruiting relation to the Cherry Tree we know.  They go into Bloom this time of year in japan and it is a big whoop ta do.

I think the first time I went to this festival was either in '03 or '04.. I can't really remember. I've only been once, and it was pretty interesting. I attempted to go in cosplay, but due to a last minute stepping-out-of-the-car-and-having-the-velcro-holding-my-dress-together-come-off
issue happen, it wasn't a very good experience. I'm hoping that this year will be much better, as my almost-done Shadow cosplay that I'll be wearing is velcro free. (Thank goodness..)

Anyways, I'm hoping that I'll see some of you there! I'm going to try and make it in time for the Kendo demonstration, and hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to some of you!

I'll be going with two of my best buds ... I will also be cosplaying, too. It's my outfit from the last Kumori-con so i'll be easy to recognize. :3 I cut my hair very short though, I may look like a Japanese school boy in drag -- !

What time does it start, though .. ?

None of you fear! Your local K-Con Weatherman is keeping his eyes on the forecast models to see how it's looking for the Sakura Festival. Right now, it's looking to be partly cloudy and highs in the low to mid 60s. Looking nice. Things may change though, accuracy this far out is low at best.

Unfortunately I know of no way to get a table out there in time, or a canopy. I know some people with a tarp though. and you could always buy a lawn table from Freddies with a parasol in the middle. Maybe I could help contribute since I get paid that Friday. Hmmmmm.... I could use some porch funiture......

So I suggest that Pcoky Clubbers try and get there at noon so that we can hang out and eat before the kendo demonstration. I'll be leaving later in the afternoon for some gaming stuff (especially since I plan on seeing Silent Hill late on Friday night) but I plan oin being there around 11 or so.

*Raises hand* I'll be going on Saturday! ^^ In cosplay. It would be great to go to lunch, but I don't think that'd go over real well with my parents. T_T But  at least I'll get to see you guys there and hopefully get a chance to talk with some of you.

I'll be going on Saturday! As for where to meet? Uhmm...Kinokunya?
I won't be hard to spot, I'll be wearing lots of red, and carrying a basket of strawberries(fake of course)
And of course, near someone in a banana suit.
Now I know what time the festival starts, so I'll probably try to get there somewhat early. (it's gonna be fun wearing the costume I'm wearing on the bus, and max train, and walking from the station to Uwajimaya)
I'd say more, but ACK thunder! Must disappear!

I was thinking about going by MAX, but I heard you have to take lots of normal busses to Uwajimaya. Is it difficult ... ?

No it's not, take the MAX to Beaverton Transit Center and hop the 54, or if you're in SE Portland take the MAX to Mall/SW 5th Ave and hop the 54 in that direction (I'm Tri Met bound, so I know lots of different ways to use the system).

I've never actually hopped onto the 54 to get to Uwajimaya. I ride the 20 from my apartments to the Gresham Trandit center, and ride the blue line to Beaverton Transit Center, and then walk the rest. lol. I guess now I know which bus to ride. XD

It's getting close. The rain chances are being pushed back to later Thursday (last time I checked, which was last night) but Saturday looks to be pretty good.

Personally, I'm against going out to lunch before the Kendo demonstrations... That puts a time limit on eating and just hanging out with the K-Con group. It should be held afterwards so we all don't feel quite as pressured to make it. Besides, the demonstrations shouldn't last that long, it'd still be early afternoon.

The 54 from Portland stops right across the street from Uwajimaya, the 54 to Portland stops less than half a block away from Uwajimaya.

Okay, so we have people for lunch after the Kendo, and before... Let's take a vote. BECAUSE THIS IS AMERICA AND IT IS WHAT WE DO. >DD

I think that Eternal Yamcha has a good point. I vote Lunch Afterwards, but we can have pocky before. ^_^

i vote for after kendo also because people always arive late, and then they haven't eatten yet then theres two lunchs; and its a good meeting spot, and i agree with neko n company   vote cuz i don't know how early and dont want to have to rush to the to the kendo demonstration, we want to get good spots to see  :D
on a seprate note, I'm  starting to bend i think i'll wear my sakaki outfit from azumanga daioh, its not very good but you know we don't get a chance to dress up often you know? i have to every so often or else i get weirder and start to act out
so yeah i'll cosplay (and feel like i'm gonna puke till i see more then three people in cosplay )
peace

superjaz3p - While I'm not the biggest fan of the show (by no means is it terrible) my girlfriend is and is, I believe, a huge Sakaki fan. So for her sake I want you to wear the costume... For my sake I'll have to drill a hole into my head because undoubtedly my girlfriend is going to sing the opening song. -_- Thank goodness for CD players.

So lunch after Kendo demos? Cool with me. Does anyone know the prices of the restaurant and if they have/their California Rolls are as good as Sambi's were?

Ouuu, I'll be there early then. I went to Orland, FL, and I went to Epcot Worl Show case (Where I got my first Kimono) and my mom looooves Taiko.

Yay! ^_^ I ca'nt wait to see everyone again. Yay for Pcoky Club and stuffs!

Oh, a question, is it okay if we just hang around the Kumoricon booth? XD Because I have a feelnig I'm gonna be hangin' around the booth for a while waitin' for people to arrive.

That would be great to meet up at the Kumoricon booth. ^_^ I probably won't get there until about 12:30-1:00. And it looks like the Kendo demonstration isn't until 1:30, so that gives me a little extra time to get there. I'm still trying to get two of my friends to go. I sure hope they can make it.. I don't want to go alone. ;-;

DAMN! I have something planned for that day! I might be able to make it, but it would be after 2pm probably. If I happen to be there I will be wearing the top half of a black and purple sailor fuku, and probably the black fullmetal alchemist hat that I practically live in

Forecast is still looking good. The rain is slated to start tomorrow (Thursday) and the chances stay alive until Friday... Leaving Saturday in the low-mid 60s under partly cloudy skies.

Looks like I'm going after all! No sense in going to a card tournament when I hardly play any more.
