Cosplay, What to wear?
« on: June 23, 2004, 12:24:56 pm »
I have a problem. I want to cosplay at kumoricon but I have no idea what or who to cosplay as. Any suggestions for a guy who needs them? Nothing too difficult

What's your price range?  Do you want to make something or buy it?

Cospa in Japan just started having a few lower priced costumes available and there are a few for men.

This DBZ outfit is only about $100 US and it's really nice:

http://www.cospa.com/cgi-bin/netshop/database.cgi?search=1&W1=%8bT%90%e5%97%ac%93%b9%92%85&ITEM=%83R%83X%83%60%83%85%81%5B%83%80

You have to be no bigger than about a US large for it.  They have tons of other stuff, but unless you have unlimited funds, it might not be an option.

Here is a link to their whole "Catarog" if you want to browse:

My husband bought a Sailor Moon General costume from Limebarb.  I'm good at sewing, but I can't do tailored men's clothing for anything!  She charged only $138 and he is 6'5 and weighs about 250lbs, so it was an amazing deal.  It wasn't perfect, but the quality was AMAZING for the price.  She has a link on cosplay.com.  I was really impressed with the job she did on the pants.  They really looked like pants one would buy in the store!

Limebarb is great, that's where my friend got her fuku (that I borrowed last year). I'm planning on buying some stuff from her as well.

You could go as a Crazy 88.  The only difficulty would be the mask, though I'm sure there are instructions on how to make one online, I haven't looked. ^.^
No, I'm not insane.  I'm just... happy.

I've seen a lot of people getting rid of those on Yahoo Japan auctions.  You might try there.  You then had to bid through celga.com or rinkya.com, but you might find a good deal.  Or someone like Limebarb might be able to do an OK reproduction of it for much less.

I think I may go as a character from my own story that i wrote. all I need is a glove design. I'm trying to figure it out right now. How to make it anyways.

If you're going for dirt cheap, find an anime or game you like with a character wearing normal clothes. XD  I have a friend cosplaying as a Silent Hill character and it took her a week and maybe $15 to put it together.
It doesn't matter whether you win or squelch, but how you play the tuba.

Oh sweet robotic goodness! Did he have prop weapons and stuff? Where did he see out of?
And now I'm a catgirl?

For one of my cosplays I went to Jan's Fabrics and found a really nice fabric, and it was really inexpensive, oh, also try goodwill, those places have some neat things. That's where I'm going to look for my other cosplay.

Ichigo is very much insane methinks. I do actually have a battle scene with an armageddon type feel. In fact the story takes place on post WW3 after nuclear war and stuff. Where mutants run wild and plastics are antiques. I will tell the whole story at the con...well not the whole thing...to anyone who will listen
