Lolita tea party
« Reply #150 on: January 23, 2007, 03:43:31 pm »
Lolita is a fashion from Japan. Here are some examples;

There are several large name brands such as Baby, the Stars Shine Bright http://www.babyssb.co.jp/, Anglic Pretty http://www.angelicpretty.com/ and Metamorphose http://www.metamorphose.gr.jp/english just to name a few. Because it is acctual clothing and not a costume, the prices are generally very high, although alot of people but it from second hand stores such as Closet Child or make their own at home.
It's a conservitave fashion, and has many strict guildlines (Length of skirts/dresses shouldn't be revealing) and the "gothic" part is no where close to the western gothic, such as what Hot Topic has done with the Gothic Lolita things in their stores;

Is not Gothic Lolita.

A lolita Tea Party is just that, a group of people, dressesd in lolita fashion, drinking tea and eating pastries and other sweet foods (finger sandwhiches, scones, etc.)

Thanks Tom. :) That's really helpful.

To be even more helpful, I've made the map.

http://pockyclub.elite-otaku.net/temp.html
It's huge.....

The rounds are in the back. behind the Main Stage and across from the Live Events panel. If you want peace and quiet you'll need to schedule carefully.

Wow, I just want to say Neko_Chan your explanation was superb. I know people all the time who hear "gothic lolita" and instantly think hot topic or something like it. Maybe I'll print your explanation and stick 'em to their foreheads. XD;

And Tom, that map rocks. *nod-nod* Very helpful indeed. ^_^

You know what would be cool a table top war game with a Gothic Lolita theme.  All the figures for the soldiers would be in GL with weapons that matched there outfits and the Giant sized Mechs and Tanks would have lace and ribbon

who me a sadist never.  All the stories I write are chick action team stories and of the 10 story ideas I have outlined with say 5 ladies in each thats 50 chicks and I only killed off one (but it is a nobal repentant death) and no serious injuries.  Of course they call me a perv but they call the guys who invented Xena and Buffy Genious.

The concept of mixing @$$kicking with GL fashion would be a real hot seller

I wasn't really into it for '06, and I won't be able to make the con for '07, but if there's an EGL tea party at '08, would I be allowed to come in EGA?

If you dress properly. :) (I saw your EGL Sasuke costume, and it's cute but there's a "no cosplay" rule so we wouldn't accept you if you came in that, sorry.) EGA is good for the Tea party.

When I wiki'd GL there is a related thing for boys and Buster Brown's turn of the century victorian boys outfit is about right for that.  That and the GL Mary Janes are named after Buster's sister Mary Jane and eww even little boys wore them.

I know what got me stated ( on the idea of @ss kicking Gl's ) playing the Dark Alice Game, there is a movie in the works but it will star Sarah Michell Geller I'd rather it was Willow as Dark Alice

That wasn't me @_@

Anyway, I've been thinking of buying Aristocrat stuff off the internet.  There's some rather nice stuff I like, I just need the money, and more chances to wear it before I bother buying it.

I don't have anything yet, but I'm looking at Fan+Friend.  I love their merchandise.  Looks very nice.  My friend bought a Suigintou (Rozen Maiden) costume from them, and it's very high quality.

Once I have more money, and more excuses to wear it, I'm gonna start buying all sorts of EGA stuff <3

Hello!

I'm very excited. I just recently (moday, haha) bought some new clothing.

Jumperskirt in pink and Alice bow in pink

Cute!

I'm planning on going as lolita on Friday, Saturday and Monday of the convention. I'm hoping to wear all sweet/hime lolita (pinks, reds, light blues). What are you doing? :)

Oh, awesome!
Caroline you will look so cute in those~
I want to see what you look like, in them~!
<3
I really like that bow. It's VERY cute!

I actually might make a cosplay this year, as well.
In this photo, in the lower lefthand corner, the figurine with her leg kicked up. :3

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000BMKHP0.01-A3MMXL6X9N5WAS._SCMZZZZZZZ_V40875474_.jpg

(Sorry the URL is so long)

It looks so interesting, so I thought I would try to make it.

Awee you're so lucky, though! I haven't been able to afford many lolita items, lately.
Although I did buy a few accesories from a very cute site @ inthestarlight.com

I think I will dress in lolita for two of the con days, though. : )

hey kids this year I had the idea that instede of donating all my left over lace and ribbons in a foofy sewing box I should make a Mana Pinata and fill that with lace and ribbons and you all can hit it with your parasols
