In one of the most off beat saddest things I've heard, The Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin has died while doing a documentary about stingrays. He was fatally wounded in the chest by one.

So sad  :cry:
It's hard being pinq.

I found this out sometime this morning. So sad! ;_; State Alchemist and I are always saying, "CRIKEY!" and whatnot. She even does an awesome Steve Irwin voice. I always looked at Steve Irwin as someone who can't be killed or something. He does so many dangerous things, I guess we should have seen this coming sometime. But it's still so sad. That poor guy, but at least he died doing something he loved to do.

I heard about it on one of the TVs at the airport! During the cosplay skits, one group did a rippoff where a girl was stalking a cosplayer. I was so happy with the skit, but finding out Steve died just makes me sad now.

I know. :(

He was a daddy, too. It makes me sad.

It was kind of ironic that one of the cosplay skits was a spoof on the croc hunter, though. And then he died. D:>

Ya know, honestly. I never expected Steve to die this way. He was a very outgoing person, so I expected him to die from a poisonus snake bite, or from a croc related incident.

The man handled with his BARE HANDS some of the most posionus creatures on our planet, and what gets him is a stingray?

Honestly, as sad as I am, I am also angry. At least Steve was doing what he loved at the time.

to quote my friend

"he poked one to many critters"

i think its true,  i heard that it was the poison from the stingray that did him in, and not the actual wound, since it was on his cheast the poison went straight to his heart.
its realy sad though, his kids are like 6 and 2,  his wife is from eugene.

According to an article, he died in a one-in-a-million way: this is only the third death from a stingray in the history of Austrailia.

Rest in peace, Mr Irvin.

You will be missed...

I saw a bunch of old shows about him on Animal Planet, not believing that he really died, and when I found out, I started to cry. He was such an awesome guy tht absolutely loved what he did. ;_;

My friends and I thought that he would be klled by being eaten by a friggin' croc. ;_;

I MISS HIM ALREADY!!!!!! T_T

This was mentioned on the Congress Of Awesome board too. It makes me sad, because Steve was awesome.

One of the forumgoers, Muhznit, said "Is that the thing about the crocodile hunter finally dying again? That guy had it coming."

If I could, I'd send Muhznit to the Eternal Sleep, along with Jadeite.

i didn't cry when i heard the news, cus i think i was in shock but when i read the news report online i began to cry

condolences to his family. we will all miss and his messages will stay strong

I was a part of the skit that was doing a parody of Steve Irwin, Cosplay Hunter Goes Down Under,(I was the cosplayer being documented) and I actually collapsed when I got off stage. Feels like bad kharma or something. Well he was a really cool guy and a great inspiration.

I was watching something on him earlier this morning... it showed him being interviewed and he said that the only thing that he'd regret or fears would be leaving his children behind without a father... I wanted to cry. He must've been such a great father.

I saw the news the morning of. I am still a little astonished that he is no longer alive...\

..but I think something about his cheeriness and all around outgoing nature made him such a pleasure to watch on TV. He shared a lot of dangerous creatures that not many could ever get close to in a lifetime.

I liked his passion a whole bunch. Something very likeable about that bloke. I will miss him. TT_TT

To all in the skit "mocking" Steve:  I don't think you should feel bad for the skit.  Instead of seeing it as mocking, think of it as paying homage to a wonderful man, an icon, people's hero...etc.  I bet he would have found it entertaining  :wink:

I never really watched his show myself, but he was none the less somewhat of a costant in the tv world.  It's really wierd to think he's gone.

So would now be a bad time for my friend the shoe doctor who is sort of built like the croc hunter and does a good impersonation (when wrestling with the Alligator skin shoes) to film the TV commercial as the Shoe Hunter.
