The first play I ever did: Always wanted to be a part of theatre at my school, was too afraid to my Freshman year because it was fairly competitive at my school, but I tried out my Sophmore year and got into a show after my first audition. From that point on I became heavily involved in the drama department. It helped me become a more confident person, and I met most of my closest friends this way. I also eventually earned "Outstanding Drama Student" my senior year which was one of the proudest moments of my life.
My first convention: Not only did it open me up to an awesome new subculture that I had always wanted to be a part of, but it was the event that caused me to really start spending time with the girl who is currently my best friend. =]
My first gift from a student: When I was first volunteering in a classroom setting there was a little boy who at the end of each week Summer camp would bring me a hydrangea flower and a picture. He was super difficult and rude when he first signed up for classes so seeing the transformation was such a good feeling. It made me so happy, and that's when I decided for sure that I wanted to be a teacher.
