The costume idea

Is there a specific anime theme to this convention.

If I came as like a Sailor Scout would I be totaly out of place?

Or if I came as a character from a game?

From my impression, anything goes as long as it's anime related. At other cons that generally stretches to allow anime and anime-ish video games as well (such as Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Soul Caliber, etc). And from the talks of all the Sailor Moon cosplaying peoples on the board, if you went as a Sailor Scout then you'd blend in pretty well  :P I've heard they're looking for enough Sailor Scouts to have two teams of scouts battle it out in a cosplay skit...

Skits are encouraged, but not required.  If you have a great costume and would like to enter it in the costume portion of the competition, you are welcome to do a "walk on."  

Also, we award Cosplay in the halls.  Different members of staff and volunteers will be giving out "Hall Cosplay" awards throughout the whole convention.  You might not have a fantastic "overall" costume, but let's say someone happens to notice that you did an amazing job with the shoes or a prop or something.  We'll also be awarding things like that as well.  The Hall Cosplay portion is very causual and it's just a matter of being "caught looking cool in costume."

so yeah, this will be my first time at a convention, so i'm still a little unclear. so if i was in a skit, would i be doing the whole thing by myself, or with my friends, or will you select people to come up and do one? :?  :?  :?

Hi again Dani.  We'll be having a panel about how to do a good skit at the con, so that should really help you get more of an idea of what to expect.

As for a skit, some prepare months in advance, some make someting up 10 minutes before they go on.  It can be a group of friends, or people you just meet at the con.

The best advice is to have fun, talk really loud and always face the audience, and keep it short and sweet (under 3 minutes).  I'm sure there are some web sites out there with descriptions of people's skits.

hey everybody this is waffles  um some people might have seen me at the con well yeah i was wearing  the hotel robe or a jason mask  yeah yeah i know not that good of outfits so i have finally thought of my cost for next year its going to be narakus baboon outfit and something else under it will it be ash from pokemon or sasuke or anybody i dont know hey everybody i told you guys so please don ttake my idea if u want you can but hey whatever      well see  everyone next year.... P.S. did anybody see my friend as miroku he was the only good one

Hi Waffles.
(I'm speaking as just a cosplayer now, not a board moderator) Usually, I don't do many cosplay commisions anymore,  but I make a really nice Ash jacket.  Because of how I'm standing, it's hard to see the pockets and the yellow trim.  



It's something that I'd make for about $40 (I'd throw in the two color green fingerless gloves for that, but you are on your own for the hat!).  I can also make it totally lined with real pockets as well for more.  All you would need to do is find or make the hat (I don't make them, but I could make a white patch with the red logo to put on a hat...maybe an extra $5 for that), a black t shirt, jeans long enough to cuff, and then some sort of black and white shoe (I wear black converse hightops with them).

Come to think about it, I need to get sewing.  I promised a few of my husband's little cousins I'd make some for them.  :)

nah, its ok i think i will do it myself so then i could be a true cos player well thanks for your  input and help but thats just a thing i might be under it who knows just look for a 6ft5 person walking around as the naruto outfit  lol and  thats me waffles... well i hope i get that outfit done.

I say cosplay anything you like at the time.  That’s what I do even if the character doesn’t really fit me.
