Just thought I would submit some pumpkin carving ideas from previous years.  Feel free to try them out.  Let me know how they worked for you.

I am working on Alphonse from Full Metal Alchemist for this year.  I'll let you know how it turned out.

Awesome. I think I'll try the Alucard one. Sure beats my "^_^" pumpkins I make. :\

By the way, uh, how exactly do you carve the outline? do you just like, tape the paper to your pumpkin and carve away or what?

You tape the paper to the pumpkin using masking tape.  Start poking the pumpkin with a push pin along all of the lines, about every 1/4 - 1/2 inch.  Make sure to put a pin hole at every corner.  When done remove the well perforated paper from the pumpkin and start cutting along the lines.  Peel the skin off of the peel sections and cut out the cut through sections.  Have fun!

That Alucard one is just AWESOME!

I was going to carve the VGCats design for the Church of Later Day Summons, but there were no more pumpkins left in Laramie, WY by the time I went looking. ^.^;
No, I'm not insane.  I'm just... happy.

Aww, wish I had seen this BEFORE Halloween. I was looking all over for an alucard one.

That's really cool though!  I'll save it for next year. ^_^

-edit-  Wait a second... You're Jenny's dad! LOL.  If I had known I would have just asked you for the alucard stencil. Oh well. XD

Every year my sister and I talk about carving pumpkins. Every year. And every year we put it off and forget until it's too late to bother. :( I guess we aren't motivated enough. No one we know is likely to see them, and we don't have any kids to use as an excuse to carve pumpkins.

Excellent work, Wuntvor. ^_^ I'm going to have to remember your advice so I can attempt to carve something as fantastic as your creation.

...Well, okay, maybe not quite that fantastic. That Hellsing pumpkin looks like I'd be biting off more than I can chew.

(Bite? Chew? Mmmm... pumpkin pie....)

Oh, by the way... I'm not exactly skilled at the carving part, but if any of you want to try a pumpkin next year, here's a bit of advice:

Instead of cutting a circle around the pumpkin's stem, cut it out of the back of the pumpkin, opposite of the face. That way, it 1. leaves more room to carve the face, and 2. makes it safer and easier to insert a lit candle when you're done.

Well here is my pumpkin from this year.  It is Alphonse Elric from Full Metal Alchemist.  Let me tell you this one wasn't easy!

Let me know what you think.

Wuntvor, that is just an awesome pumpkin.  If I had seen that on a porch where I live, I would have given the carver some of my candy!
