I'm watching "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" right now. Very good anime. Very confusing at parts as well. One of those anime that makes you think.

A while ago I purchased the Ranma 1/2 movie collection. I've seen the first one a few times before, but I've never seen the second one. I think I'll watch it when I get home tonight.

At Anime Friday we watched two Lupin movies, First Contact, and Castle Cagliostro. In Cagliostro, we were playing which later character was a female character in a later Ghibli film.

Later we watched some Chobits rip-off Buttobi, I think is the name. A more ecchi version of what Chobits, or what most guys think should have been happening. It wasn't the on/off switch anymore!

Yes, the show is funny, but it just didn't work for me on some level. Perhaps it's just a little too self-aware. The breaking down the fourth wall thing was great as a novelty, but dragged out over 26 episodes, it gets a little trite. Also, the fact that it's clearly designed to have a central non-character through which the viewer can insert herself into the story is a little irritating. The lead role, Haruhi is not actually a character at all, but rather a placeholder for the viewer, so as to enable the fantasy. That is why she has no personality whatsoever.

I suppose you could level the same criticisim at shonen romances like OMG and Love Hina, but in those cases, who among us (males) would actually want to be Keiichi or Keitaro?

very true but you know you thought about it once or twice like.... hey I would not mind being keitaro minus the whole getting my arse kicked every other minute of the day n stuff... but yeah I can understand where you are comming from which is surprising since I am about as aware as a brick right now of what is going on

I fully understand that haruhi is a placeholder for the fans to be like... OMG I so wanna be her (if you are a lady)

But worse still, Keitaro only gets laid in poorly written fanfics.

I just started watching Pretear. It's good, but makes me want to know what I am missing from Cardcaptors, as opposed to Cardcaptor Sakura. The magical girl change, is tasteful, yet makes ones eyebrows raise at the same time. To say more would be to spoil it all.

I was hoping wed start watching it in anime club but instead they voted for chobits... >.> Which Im not sure is school appropriate but oh well, so Im going to borrow it and watch instead xD Ill have to check out the manga too, I didnt know there was one. I usally prefer manga to anime too.

haha, well, that's nice. Seemed like too cute a story to bring down with repeatedly dirty jokes. ^_^

Midori Days was good. I really enjoyed watching it.

Watched a double feature Friday night, Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers. Both really good movies, aside from being outstanding anime.

Started watching Fushigi Yugi the other day. It's good, but I haven't decided if it is as good as say Twelve Kingdoms. Only watched the first 3 discs.

Tokyo Godfathers is amazing. The animation as well as the plot is just stunning. Great film!

So here is a question. How do you guys go about just watching and "testing out" different shows? Do you have networks, or do you use Youtube? OR do you just buy a lot of anime? Just curious, cause I'm kinda stuck in a rut of what I already have. I don't really like sitting at my computer and watching anime, cause I can't stare at my moniter for that long.....hmmm....I wonder if I have ADD.....

- Soukou no Strain
- Giniro no Olynnsis
- Bleach (ep 127? This show really should have wrapped up in 52 eps. It's suffering from the Narutard/DBZ/Gundam effect - goes on for YEARS...)
- Death Note. (Neat, suspenseful, but also a little too long. Luckily, it's supposed to END at ep. 37.)
- Shakugan no Shana.
- Lucky Star <- HILARIOUS!
- Seto no Hanayome (also pretty funny.)
- Code Geass (waiting for the final two eps to air this July...)

Just Started Red Garden. but we might let it go.

Also, just watched Sousei no Aquarion OVA #1.

I saw elfin lied back in the fansub days, really cool kinda strange at times but there are some awesome scenes.
