Just started One Piece three days ago. I am at episode 31...So far, the battles are a little drawn out, and it is a little similar to Naruto, although One Piece came first. "I am going to be the next Hokage." "I'm going to be the next Pirate King." And of course, battles that seem to last a ridiculous number of episodes. Still enjoyable, though.

Just finished watching Hotaru no haka (Grave of the Fireflies) Live Action version done in 2005 as a made for TV Mini-series.  It is 2:28 minutes long.  I think I cried more during this than I did during the anime.  :'(   It really gives you more of the details of the story, and more of a look into the Aunts behavior.  It also implies that the oldest daughter/cousin, Natsu, had feelings for Seita, and doesn't understand why her mother is behaving the way she is.  It also goes into more detail about why Seita leaves the house with his sister to live on their own, and why he is so stubborn about getting help.

I recommend it to anyone who likes the animated version.  I found the torrent on BakaBT (BoxTorrents).   ;)

I got my 21" monitor hooked up to my wife's computer to watch the discs I got from Wuntvor's computer, but her CD player is CD-RW, so the discs are not visible. sigh, always something ain't it?

Anyway finished Code Geass yesterday. I think it could use a season two, but... that's up to the creators.

Tokyo Majin wasn't bad. Kind of funny that I had Ghost hunt and this coming from my Netflix queue at roughly the same time. But I hope they come out with more Ghost Hunt, than I do of Tokyo Majin.

Have Fun

I'm watching YU-GI-OH and Baccano.

This is one thing that always makes me mad. NARUTO came 2nd (I'm not targeting you, and I know that you explained everything, I just have always wanted to rant about this) and One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho are infinitely better, because everyone knows that a copycat wannabe is nothing more than that.
Naruto:
Story Line: Stolen From One Piece
Characters: Relatively original. As in, NOT ENTIRELY.
Attacks: COPIES OF A MIX OF ANIME'S! I CAN BARELY FIND A SINGLE ATTACK THAT IS NOT FROM ANOTHER SHOW, BE IT LIVE ACTION, OR ANIME.

Naruto is a wannabe, and I get why people love it, he managed to copy shows less popular than his own, so most people think that One Piece copied Naruto, or Touya's ice moves are a copy of Haku's. I also understand that Naruto is a good show. I too was obsessed with it. Hell, it's what got me in to anime. I loved it. I have a Tsunade cosplay in my closet for pete's sake! Do not come after me saying "Naruto is the best" yadda, yadda, yadda, because I get where you're coming from, but you've got to get where I am coming from. I was utterly depressed when I began watching the animes Naruto and his gang jacked their attacks from.
You've gotta know that I enjoy Naruto, but that I enjoy Yu Yu Hakusho, One Piece, pokemon, digimon, and Sailor moon to enjoy it as much anymore.

I should shut up now.

Love,
Sarge/Katie/Soundy

Vallie and I are watching Gunslinger Girl; Il Teatrino right now. It's got a bit more cohesive storyline than the first series, which I like. Vallie noticed that some of the characters seem to be drawn older while others seem to be chibi versions of themselves.

Our next series is going to be Hetalia.

anyone got a good Shonen anime you think I could get her interested in?

Umm..  There is a season two of Code Geass,  I have it here if you want it.  Just have to figure out how to get your computer to let you see it.   ;D  You can buy a DVD burner for your computer for about $40 new.  May be your best bet for an upgrade and allowing you to view my disks.

Julie and Julia may be the kind of chick flick I like and my wife won't. I used to watch Julia Child when I was a little kid. Leastways when I was home from school sick.

I watched Wolverine last night. I about forgot it was a Marvel comic book movie. And it actually worked for me to have brand new story lines from original canon. Well my Weapon X vs. Hulk comic book from the 70s ought to be worth a pretty penny about now, eh?

Spent all day yesterday watching anime.  I started with a couple of movies I just recently discovered.

I watched Sword of a Stranger.  I was looking for shows like Moribito and this was one that was recommended.  I have to say that I was not disappointed.  A great movie that I recommend strongly.

I also watched a Korean animated feature.  Chonnyonyeouu Yeouubi aka Yobi the Five Tailed Fox.  I found this to be a rather fun movie.  Strangely it deviates from the normal way Korean kumiho (nine tailed fox) tales go.  Unlike the Japanese kitsune the kumiho is almost always evil and malevolent.  Yobi is mischievous, but far from evil.

I also found a whole bunch of ecchi pantsu/boing shows that I hadn't seen before.  I like silly comedy with some poor slob who has girls fighting over him.  Watching Girls Bravo, Raimuiro Senkitan, Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun, Tokimeki Memorial, Sekirei, and Kanokon.

Yeah!  I think I have had my fix for awhile.  At least until the next Princess Lover episode comes out.   ;D

But we might find some time for something Ghibli between diaper changes and fresh bottles.
It's never to early to start a kid on Japanese and good anime.

I'm watching Midori Days again. This one doesn't quite seem as good the second time around. Perhaps maybe because my wife comes to look when our hero's sister is in the hot tub, and showing all the top half of her. SHe says "oh, boobies" And so I have to explain, that sometimes you get them in anime.

But on a technical note of this series. THe backgrounds, start out with an amazing amount of detail, but lost out over time. I think the contrast between highly detailed backgrounds, and slap dash characters were too incongrous, or that the production company lost money that was going to show up, after they got the backgrounds done, but before they got the characters drawn in. Dunno. It's evening out by the end of the first disc.

Up next after this series is Eden's Bowy. Anyone seen it?
