Kino no Tabi Cosplay

My cosplay died. It's stuck in my dad's garage and isn't even the same color as Hermes. Right now I don't even have the money for spraypaint so I can't even make a ghetto Hermes. I put the meet up at 11am, Monday.

I still have to sew a lot, and do a few edits but that's about it.  Monday at 11 is fine for me.  I'm still working on my boyfriend's Shizu costume.  I might just have to give up on thrift stores and ebay everything.  My haircut looks pretty good and I got my goggles and my revolver in the mail last week.  I'm going to start working on her green jacket right after this post, actually.  XD 

Any ideas on where to meet up?  Since we don't know the layout of the hotel yet, how about at the main front door?  That should be easy enough to find.

My cosplay progress is pretty much none unfortunately. It looks like I may not finish this year, but I'll do the costume next year, for sure. I'm still going to come to the photoshoot this year though. I could always wear my "brought some Kino type stuff from my closet and put it all together so that this almost looks like a cosplay" cosplay. XD If I wear my black wig it could even double as young Shishou! =D

Oh!  I saw a jacket at Old Navy one day that would make a great Kino jacket, except that it comes only in khaki or black and needed to be hemmed a bit.  It was about $40 I think...  If you could get that much you could try dying it. (it was mostly cotton, I checked.)  The only reason I didn't get it was that I had already gotten fabric and a pattern for the jacket.  I might actually get it still if I happen to screw up my sewing, lol.  Also, try thrift stores.  I've gotten some really nice cheap fabric and patterns there before, and you can do her anime version khaki pants for cheaper if you don't have green ones.  And they almost always have tan trenchcoats that would work.  I wouldn't mind making a few extra pouches for you if you decided to do the jacket thing. :3

Now I just need to figure out how to get really really really small belts like the ones she wears around her ankles. Hmmm... You have any ideas? Plus I need to get some boots and a trench coat and a belt. Also, I'd appreciate some pouches if you wouldn't mind making them. Now to figure out how to get my hair to look like both Kino's and Chika-kun's... XD

The rest you should easily find at a thrift store.  Belts, boots and trenchcoats should be easy to find there.  What I did for the small belts is buying two thin regular sized ones and getting some belt buckles that fit.  You should be able to find belt buckles at Michaels or Joann's, and if not, they're cheap on ebay (that's where I ordered mine.)  You just cut up the normal belt and use some super glue for the new buckle.  Punch a hole in the new small belt with a nail and hammer, and you're set.  :3  Also, irl the black jacket doesn't look quite as dark as it does in the online photo.

I'm going to have my overalls anyway for my Mario costume. I'll see if there's a guy with a beard and overalls.

I think at least one of the three men along the rails fits that description. :3 And I just ordered the Kino jacket! =0 I already have the pants and the shirt (which are also the ones for my Ouran cosplay... I should probably wear my Princess Mars cosplay one of the days or I don't imagine that the results will be very pretty. XD) Now I just need to get the trench coat, boots, and belts! GLEE! I can't wait! This photoshoot is going to be soooooo awesome!

XD thanks.  I bought the goggles.  They came all the way from Peru @_@ They took forever.  I'm making the pouches as we speak, so I'll have a picture up when I get done with one.

Update:  I made one pouch.  Here's a picture.  It's not completely done yet, but this is pretty much how it will look:

I made the box shape out of cardboard, used duct tape to make the corners less abrupt, then made a cover for it out of fabric.  It will velcro shut and will attatch to a belt with a loop on the back.  Itr will be useable and should hold a small wallet.  It's not EXACTLY accurate, but it's close enough I think. :3

Yeah, I'll make you some, no problem.    If you want to pay me a couple of dollars, that's fine, but the only thing I'm really spending on them is for the butons.  XD  I got the cardboard from used cereal boxes and got the fabric at the thrift store for like 4 dollars for 7 yards.  XD Taking anymore than a couple of dollars would be cheating you, and you dont' need to pay if you don't feel like it.

Hey guys, I took a trip to Vancouver on a whim the other day, and I checked out the neighborhood.  It'd be great if we had our meeting at the gazebo in the park across the street.  Kino pictures should be taken outdoors anyway.

So Monday at 11 in the park?  Is that fine for everyone?

Also, my jacket will be done in probably about half an hour.  I'll get some pictures up sometime today.  I'll try to get a picture of my Shizu up sometime in the next couple of days too, as soon as I can get his shirt finished.  We bought a silly plastic sword for him at Party City, since his real one isn't allowed (I think).

OK, I failed at doing a Hermes costume but I think I can make up for it by whipping up a cheap costume from stuff I already have. I'm going to download and watch the first few episodes again for inspiration. If I can make a costume for one of the train track guys I'll totally do that.

If I see a big enough cardboard box out by the dumpster I might just make a big cardboard cutout of Hermes and hide behind it.

I've looked at the schedule and it would seem that they are showing Galaxy Express 999 at 9AM on Monday! =0 For those of you who don't know, Galaxy Express 999 was Keiichi Sigsawa's (the author of Kino) main inspiration for creating Kino. Are any of you guys interested in watching it together and then having a discussion about the parallels and differences between Kino no Tabi and Galaxy Express 999? (Yes, I'm a major geek. XD)
